Yup, I have friends actually saying that this proves she's a liar and if I care about Trump being a liar then how can I not care about Warren being a liar. My response is that only one of those people recently paid a multi-million dollar settlement for their lies, aka Trump University. They don't care. Like their hero, they will say and do just about anything to defend him. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Thanks for your advice. Next time make sure replying me, not husslr187. Well, clicking on 'reply' to the last post in the thread is common practice on here. But to your question: You intentionally jumped out over a cloud layer after the green light had turned to red and then the red light had gone out? I was taught right away when jumping from planes with the red/green lights (jumped from 182s for a long time before getting to a bigger plane) that if the green light goes out, do not jump. Period. There's a reason the pilot turned the light off. Depending on how strict your DZ is about clouds, you may have thought that it was just because of clouds and it wasn't thick enough to stop you. What if there had been traffic under the cloud? And the pilot turned the light off because of that? If I was in charge (and I am not and haven't been in that position for a while now), your past history and attitude at the time of the incident would play a fairly large part. But you'd be on the ground for at least a little while. You jumped into conditions you couldn't see. You jumped when you were told (via the green light going out) specifically not to. So... What'd ya get? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

What happened here is Trump followed his usual pattern. Call someone an insulting name, make a 'bet' based on it. When the person meets the demand and wins the bet, deny he ever said it. Then weasel and backpedal like the coward he really is. And the Trumpettes pretend it's Warren who is at fault, not Trump. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." What do you mean by "could be"? Do you have anything to back up the idea that the 'average American' has double the Native DNA? I don't really understand DNA and genetic testing beyond what the average person does. But, if I understand correctly, she had 5 genetic segments that are exclusive to Native Americans. Because of the isolation after the population crossed the land bridge from Siberia, they've got some fairly unique DNA. Warren has that. There's not really any question that she had a Native ancestor in the "multiple great" range (6 - 10 generations). Forbes has a decent explanation of it. Well, Duh. Trump makes claim that Warren is not of Indian descent, offers to pay money if she is. She shows that she is. He then claims he never made that promise. The Trumpettes then go off on tangents like "she's not a member of a tribe" (she never claimed to be), or "she's doesn't have enough Indian heritage (nobody ever set a limit). Has Trump been 'held to account' on any of the ridiculous lies he's told? Ever? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." FAA oversight of skydiving (was - Lodi incident)
wolfriverjoe replied to skyfox2007's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It ended up making zero difference in the investigation, but there was a tandem fatality local to me. TI got out of the plane in the face of an incoming squall. The storm came in while they were under canopy, they got blown out over a lake. The student was unhooked and made it to shore, the TI got out of the rig, but drowned. The cops recovered the gear from the water, and held it for a while 'pending completion of the investigation'. When it was finally returned to the DZ, the main canopy had a dozen or more cuts in it. Nobody could figure out how this had happened. The cops gave a bunch of different stories and finally admitted that it was full of water when they pulled it out of the lake and stabbed it with a knife to let the water out. Well, the opening line of the quote says it all. "I fell for a fast talking salesman." Properly designed, properly installed, properly researched solar systems are fine. But, as with anything like this, there will be hucksters and con men that go out and rip people off. I'll guess that the fella quoted above didn't do any real research on solar before signing. I'd bet that the sales creature had a 'awesome discount, but only if you sign right now' that turned out to be not so 'awesome'. None of that means anything about solar in general. But, of course, the detractors want to tie con men in with the legit outfits to discredit the entire idea of solar. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Political Correctness and Ft Hood Tragedy
wolfriverjoe replied to RonD1120's topic in Speakers Corner
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,582732,00.html Something interesting in this case came out yesterday. It seems that Hassan was a Koran "Literalist". He believed that his mother, who died in 2001 was burning in hell for selling alcohol. Somehow, he transformed that belief into the idea that killing the US soldiers at Ft Hood would atone for her sins and allow her into "paradise". The correspondence with the radical Iman had far less to do with it than originally thought. Link: https://abcnews.go.com/US/us-army-officer-turned-terrorist-thought-attack-save/story?id=58585738 So, rather than 'political correctness', it was 'religious idiocy' and literal belief of the 'sacred texts'. Several threads popped up in search. This one seemed appropriate. Link in OP is long dead. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Warmer climate = more power interruptions
wolfriverjoe replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
You're advocating the customer pay one rate if the power flows in one direction, but receive a different rate if the power flows in the opposite direction. There's nothing fair about that. So the utility should install & maintain the lines, transformers, and all the other "non-generating" parts of the grid for free? If a 'generating source' was willing to go to the effort (and expense) of getting the power to (say) the nearest substation, then I might say 'pay them what they pay'. If you rig a shotgun to your back door as a booby trap, don't use that door. Heard about it on the radio, searched and found stories. The radio said that the injury was severe enough that they had to amputate the arm. That isn't in this story. Not sure if it's true or not. https://www.gastongazette.com/news/20181015/man-shot-after-triggering-his-own-booby-trap "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Talked with the guy some at Summerfest. It's somewhat similar to a Hype-Eye, in that you have a point with a colored light on it. It can be set to change colors abruptly, or to 'gradient' through the spectrum. Sounds like a nifty idea, but I have no first hand experience (or affiliation). Brett Kavanaugh, how to get a SC Nomination

While it's nice that you acknowledge that much, some of your earlier posts leave the impression that you feel that there is a possibility of some basis in fact around the "pizza gate" bundle of lies. Do you now agree that the whole thing was a falsehood? No. Read his post about the one trusted friend validating an opinion that then becomes almost impossible to change. Gonna guess that he knows perfectly well that we would take his 'documentary' and take it apart claim by claim. He doesn't want his "facts" challenged, so he withdraws the claim. Google "YouTube pizzagate documentary" and you will find a bunch of them. No clue which one he thinks is 'accurate', but take a quick look at a couple of them, and read the comments. Reminds me a lot of the "Loose Change" 9/11 crap or the "Fake Moon Landing" garbage. P.T. Barnum was right. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Seriously? A 'detailed and independent documentary' claiming that HRC and the dems have a child sex ring centered around a restaurant? I've actually heard those claims going back to the 90s. Not necessarily any particular politician or party, but that the 'elite' enslave young girls, impregnate them and then sacrifice the babies. Most of the claims were made by people with significant mental issues. None provided any proof. They always claimed that the 'elite' (Illuminati, Rothschilds, ect) would silence anyone who brought it up. Also, go ahead and link it. The rules are pretty straightforward. No jokes about child abuse, child porn or pedophilia. Serious, straightforward discussion is well within the rules. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 50 jumps or no 50 jumps, that's full price (more or less) for a 5 year old rig. I would pass on that one. 2nd - As was noted, a 126 reserve is quite small for a newer jumper. There are a few places where you can find recommended wingloading for your skill level. Figure out what that is now. Base your reserve size on that as a minimum (going a size bigger is not a bad idea). Then pick your main size. Do not pick it based on where you expect to be in the future (either skill level or weight target). Pick your container based on those numbers. B613? Illuminati? I'd like to think you are joking and trolling with that, but I think you are serious. The 'super secret intelligence agency' is a staple of TV, movie and fiction writing. Bill needs to get rid of the trolls before SC devolves into a forum of just him and Kallend and anyone else who can not resist responding to Marc. Censorship, a primary tool of the progressive left as indicated by Google/YouTube, Facebook and, Twitter. If you don't like what they opine then don't let them say it. Hmmm... Who is it that, just last week, wanted protesters to be 'taken care of'? Who is it that asked supporters to 'rough up' a protester and even offered to pay for an attorney? What group calls for the banning of books the most? Particularly science texts for schoolkids? I think that the reactionary right's problem with the 'censorship' of modern social media is that they are starting to crack down on the blatant lies and propaganda. Insisting on truth and accuracy isn't censorship. But then, so many on the right have a very difficult time understanding what is true and what isn't. Ground wind changed when landing.
wolfriverjoe replied to swotcox's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Often DZO's will also point out where they don't want you to land for business/legal/financial reasons i.e. landowner X will confiscate your gear, landowner Y will have you arrested for trespassing, landowner Z will have the DZ shut down if one more person lands there. That's good information to know. Of course, every jumper still has to make good decisions on their own. If the choice is the alligator farm or the guy who will have you arrested, better to land safely and deal with getting bail than ending up lunch. And if the choice is the alligator farm, the angry farmer or the golf course where they don't mind you landing - that is VERY good information to have. ^This. SDC gives a pretty good brief on this. They have a bit of a situation, where the outs to the east are fairly far away (river and woods between DZ and the outs). One of the most attractive potential outs (closest and wide open grass fields) is a horse farm. Because of the potential for scaring the horses into hurting themselves, which has happened, and the extremely high value of the horses, the DZ doesn't want people to land there. They also understand that there may be times where a jumper has no other choice. So they explain very clearly that the horse farm is an out of last resort. Do whatever is practical to not land there. If you have to land there, after landing, gather up your canopy and sit still. Call in and let them know where you are. They will go to the owners, and you will be retrieved. If you land there and decide to walk out on your own, you are subject to a fine of several hundred dollars. You agree to this when you sign the waiver. Yea, right, which is why half the DZs out there do unsafe stuff, right? Skydivers have been killed from DZOs who conducted improper/ non-existent aircraft maintenance. Guess what, the companies are still around. Yep, they got sued, but it dident matter. That is what insurance is for. A DZO is not going to care that much if they get sued. Their insurance picks up the tab, not them. I know one DZ in particular that has been sued at least five separate times. They are still in business being doing shady stuff like they always do. What kind of insurance are you referring to? Do you actually think that DZs have liability insurance to cover skydiving accidents?
