Horizontal on opening?
justintime1983 replied to justintime1983's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You know I got that same advice durring AFF after the jump he was just like "when I said look, I didnt really mean check it." Never hurts to be aware though. I keep telling my friends skydiving will fix all your problems, Im a fibber you just let go a minute at a time. Choose what to do with it. -
Horizontal on opening?
justintime1983 replied to justintime1983's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You know I think that is absolutely the best response I've gotten on here. The article was great help. I will be practicing it cause I think proper deployment is the most important part of the jump. This weekend was the first time I jumped this canopy. Usually use a Nav 240 or 220, this was a 190 (not to sure about type though.) Could this have affected it? Before I here anything about wingloading just know I only weigh like 165. (Not directed at hook, just those who may jump on me.) Horizontal on opening?

I guess I do tend to make like a 45 degree left turn while pulling, and after reading your post I think Ill redo my AFF 1 jump; solo of course. I keep telling my friends skydiving will fix all your problems, Im a fibber you just let go a minute at a time. Choose what to do with it. -
Horizontal on opening?
justintime1983 replied to justintime1983's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yeah so kinda weird. Didnt really think much about it as it was happening, or until I went home. Durring opening I went horizontal (looking "up" at my canopy and seeing it split between land and air.) So that was a bit weird, but then the right side started to turn under the left, almost a twist. So I pulled riser's, either front back or both and leveled out. What was going on there? When do you consider yourself a "skydiver"
justintime1983 replied to mitsuman's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hold on there now buddy!!! 8 years 800 jumps and only a C licence. Not to sure you should be telling who's a real skydiver. At my pace Ill have your jumps in about a year and a half, whos a tourist? Sorry just thought your post was preaty rough. Im not really sure what defines "skydiver" For such a freeing sport seems silly to restrain it by definition. Good point and well put! also, going up with someone on their first sitfly attempt (as i see some "coaches" doing) is nothing more than freeloading. Sitfly attempt, I can sitfly. All I have to do is a front-flip and get stuck on my ass. Whats the big deal, I dont get it? favorite part of skydiving
justintime1983 replied to mitsuman's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm happiest when I exit till I pull. Once I exit I know theres no going back. Once I pull and its all gravy I know Im headed back to the "real world." Blah. I keep telling my friends skydiving will fix all your problems, Im a fibber you just let go a minute at a time. Choose what to do with it. -
Come on now I did my best. Not that I have much to offer but have faith!!! I keep telling my friends skydiving will fix all your problems, Im a fibber you just let go a minute at a time. Choose what to do with it.

You dont have to pay for a packing class. If you just watch people packing their own canopys you can figure a good deal out. Plus eventually someone will just show you once they realize your watching them. As for the coach jumps, see who's going solo, or even a small group see if any of them have a coach rating. Relative work is crap without something to be relative to. If your really that bored, which I was very quickly becomming, save some money and do hop-n-pops. Leg turns, remember I only have 25 jumps so you'll propably get much better advice, I think you drop a knee and kinda rotate your leg from your hip away from your body. For all those boring solo's I recommend first knee, see what happens, then both its fast and fun. Keep working on your form, first coach jump I just sorta floated way above my coach. Ohh and jump 10. Only took me like an hour or so. Didnt deploy till for 4 but stoped maneuvers at 6. Really long time not doing ANYTHING except watching my altimeter thinking "Gee I really hope I did that right." Think Ill keep packing cause A: I dont make 60 bucks an hour (5 min pack once proficient.) B: I like to know what all the gear is about. I guess this could all change once Ive been in the sport longer. I keep telling my friends skydiving will fix all your problems, Im a fibber you just let go a minute at a time. I think it's funny you say that. I have a friend who's boyfriend doesn't know how to put gas in his car. From what I was told he grew up in New Jersey where it's illegal to put gas in your own car (correct if I'm wrong that's what I was told as the reason). So when they drive anywhere outside of the state she has to put the gas in the car. Not to highjack the thread but it would take someone 2 min. to learn to pump gas. He is lazy. Seriously, I figured out how to change the head on a car without being told how; did have a book though. A lot of "firsts" today.
justintime1983 replied to PeregrineFalcon's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Dude or dudet? Be happy it was a cow, my dropzone this weekend was aviation day, flying over planes taking off and landing, helicopters rotors moving, and all sorts of other crazyness, so distracted I landed on the tarmac. First time I owed beer -
I only twist logic to people trying to get them to jump. Makes absolutely no sense to me, I've just stopped trying to figure it out. I keep telling my friends skydiving will fix all your problems, Im a fibber you just let go a minute at a time. Choose what to do with it.

My ass bag landing weekend!!!
justintime1983 replied to justintime1983's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
So yeah. I stood 9 outta my first 11 jumps relatively on target without a prob. This weekend sucked ass. 1 way off, 2nd super hard and then almost PLF (didn’t use proper form) right through my lines, 3rd sucked I forget how, 4th yeah this was the one where I landed on the tarmac. 2nd day. 1st jump thought it might be a great idea to eat shit over by the combine instead of landing on it. 2nd for the day actually went well, 3rd early flare resulted in like 4 foot drop to the ground, 4th landed half flare almost screwing my left ankle. Was going for my 5 target landings for A license, I think this may have thrown me off. I keep telling my friends skydiving will fix all your problems, Im a fibber you just let go a minute at a time. justintime1983 replied to jrcolo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions

Going for my AFF1 next weekend. things to know..
justintime1983 replied to mitsuman's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
LOL thats part of the reason I failed my AFF1 Passed the rest though, last one with flying colors. to the poster, there is a thread a few pages back talking about what we learned in AFF, but the biggest and only thing you really have to do is relax. I keep telling my friends skydiving will fix all your problems, Im a fibber you just let go a minute at a time. Choose what to do with it. -
Most people don't stay in the sport for more than a few years. It's really not worth alienating his family for something that he may be done with before he's old enough to buy beer. Whats the reason for this? I keep telling my friends skydiving will fix all your problems, Im a fibber you just let go a minute at a time. Choose what to do with it.

Irresponsibility is exactly why there are issues in the housing market. Im not sure if you have looked at any of the deeds of trust on the properties that have been forclosed, but I would say 99% have the ARM rider on them. (Almost seams we should open a new thread in the bon-fire forum). If you dont believe me go to the courthouse, register of deeds office, look up "trustees deeds" then you can look at all the ARM riders. All I need is a roommate, solves all the problems. The question here is really just like $300 bucks, its not going to make or break me. Not finding a roommate thats dependable could after I had to change jobs because of school getting in the way,but $300 sure I can find that in a MONTH, and if the other issues arent sorted out then this month didnt really matter did it.
