Nicely done. Purposely misunderstand the question. No, explain your hypocrisy. Someone else quotes the constitution and they are using "The classic fall-back position when logic doesn't work. Appeal to the authority of 250 year old dead white slave owners". When you quote the constitution, it is OK. That makes you a hypocrit. Derek V

Care to explain the hypocrisy? I get it, when you agree with the constitution and/or amendments, you quote it. When you disagree with it, you point out that quoting it is, "The classic fall-back position when logic doesn't work. Appeal to the authority of 250 year old dead white slave owners". Nice strategy, you can't lose! Derek V

You never did provide a link....... I am not following. You said; "Except they aren't very well regulated at this point. Hence the problems we're seeing." I asked you what problems militias are causing. You said; "Unnecessary deaths and shootings, irresponsible ownership and storage resulting in shootings, lack of proper background checks, illegal transfer of weapons. " I asked which militias are responsible for these problems. You said; "Seems your Google is broken. Have you not been paying attention? " I am just asking you to back up your claim regarding poorly regulated militias causing these problems you describe. Can you provide a link? Derek V

Why would weapons just be made available to well regulated militias? Isn't the original intent of the 2nd amendment was for the citizens to own arms so that they could be recruited into a "well regulated militia" if necessary? Derek V

I am just asking you to back up your claim regarding poorly regulated militias causing these problems you describe. Can you provide a link? Or are you trying to apply the 'well regulated' to 'arms' instead of 'militia'? Derek V

I have been paying attention and I do not see where poorly regulated militias are responsible for; "Unnecessary deaths and shootings, irresponsible ownership and storage resulting in shootings, lack of proper background checks, illegal transfer of weapons." Can you provide a link? Derek V

Which poorly regulated militias are responsible for: ??? Derek V

Wait, are you saying poorly regulated militias are responsible for; ??? Derek V

Kallend: Kallend: I borrowed the tactic from you...... Do you think the entire Constitution should be tosses, since it was written by, "250 year old dead white slave owners"? Derek V

Is America finally ready to talk about guns?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Nice_attack Or running them over with a truck? Further gun control laws are not going to be effective. The assault weapon ban demonstrated this. The background check and magazine limit laws here in CO demonstrate this. A law's effectiveness is based on many factors; Is it highly enforced or not enforced? High penalty for getting caught, or minimal penalty? What is the reward if you get away with breaking the law? Bill Von said that drunk driving decreased dramatically from education, enforcement, and stiff penalties. High chance of getting caught. Stiff penalty for when you do get caught. That would really offset a lot of the potential reward side of the column. Throw in some education..... Why not apply the same recipe to guns? Wouldn't it work there as well? Law abiding gun owners are not affected and rates of gun-related homicides go down. Win-Win. Derek V -
Cleveland Police Union Calls for Weapons Ban During RNC

Are you saying that some constitutional rights should be limited easily and others more difficult to limit? Again, I think open carry is a bad idea. Derek V -
So do agree that reducing the number of guns is the only fix? I was not trying to mislead. Derek V

Again, language like this makes having an adult conversation with you very difficult. Derek V

http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Data-Gun-Deaths-Plunge-Firearm/2016/07/13/id/738434/ "The firearm homicide rate in 1993 of 6.6 per 100,000 dropped by more than half by 2014, to 3.43 per 100,000." "The number of privately owned guns ballooned from 192 million in 1994 to 357 million in 2013." Maybe the issue is not a simple as you think it is. Firearm homicides cut by almost half while the number of guns almost doubled in the same time period. Derek V

I suppose the same reason you can't yell "fire" in a crowded building, but you can protest a soldier's funeral. Derek V

I do agree with you that open carry is a bad idea. I read an open carry group's position on the matter and they basically say they want to open carry because concealed can be uncomfortable. Poor justification in my mind. "Rambo wannabes"-Kallend "Pussies"- Normiss This language makes it difficult to a) not fire back, further degrading the conversation by adding noise and, b) is completely unnecessary to make your point. I question whether your motivation is to discuss the issue or just argue. Derek V
