Even got a bunch of jumps with other sit flyers to make sure I'm not sliding all over the place!! Beautifull weekend! We are getting rediculously lucky with the weather here If your gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough. Your mom goes HandHeld

  4. Welcome! You're gonna LOVE it!! I got a question though. . .Colorado Sky Sports allows you to jump @ 16??? I'm wondering because my li'l sister just turned 16 and I took her to the tunnel last night because I didn't think anyone would take on 16 yr old jumpers. . . If your gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough. 8. Hey all, I have a question about risers. I recently got my I&R done on my (used) rig. It's a Vector2 with a Sebre1 170 canopy. It opens great (not the slammer I keep hearing about) and, I love the way it flies! I jumped it 4 times on Sunday and what I realized is that, I have to tippy toe on my butt cheeks to even think about reaching the dive loops!! The toggles stowes are a bit lower so I don't have a problem reaching those but, stowing the slider is pretty interesting. I check for traffic then I have to turn w/ rears to get one side low enough for me to reach!! On a side note: I did perform a flawless rear riser landing!! It felt better than some of my other landings! Anyways the question is are risers rig specific and I need to buy them new from UPT or can I just get some shorter used ones. I checked UPT's website but couldn't find any "parts catalog" if you will. Thanks any info/leads are greatly appreciated! Rich If your gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough. Your mom goes HandHeld
  9. I got my "A" in 25 jumps and it was fun the entire way!! Call me weird but I LIKE packing and I really enjoyed sitting with the pilot and learning about winds and weight distribution on an aircraft etc. . . I had some of the coaches even ask me, "do you go home and read the SIM every night or what??" To which my reply was, "yeah". The thing about this sport to me is that, the more you know the "safer" it is. Plus, I did my FJC with a couple of good friends adn our whole goal was to be able to jump together!! And, you can't do that with out an "A"! I wish there was a proficiency card for the "B" license. I think the card helps give me some direction in trying to aquire these essential skills. edited to add: Plus, jumping solo gets old. You have no reference on how your moving through the air. Sunday got four in- 2 track dives a 3way and a two way. + I owe beer for jumping my first rig!! If your gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough. Your mom goes HandHeld
  11. Congrats!!! Feels great doesn't it! I just got my "A" on monday!! If your gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough. Your mom goes HandHeld
  12. I'd have to agree with this post 100% !! As a climber it is necessary to be confident in you gear. I think that naturally carries over to skydiving for me. I like to know the ins and outs of every thing I do in a risky activity. Otherwize it's just blind faith. . . "Well gee, I dunno what's in here but, everyone els's looks the same so mine should work" I'm just a rookie (Just got My "A" yesterday) I've been packing since jump #16. Even packed for my 1st hop&pop and felt just a confident as if a packer had done it. To me it's just part of the game plus it gives you a minute to look over your gear, check for holes in the canopy, worn lines, twists, toggle stows, stows etc. . . 13. At least you waited for them to open the door before you "let one loose"!! If your gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough. Your mom goes HandHeld
  14. I'm pretty sure the terrorists wre linked to Al Quaida and I'm also fairly certain Iraq isn't in Afganastan. . . But, What do I know. . If your gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough. Your mom goes HandHeld

  16. got 4 in this weekend. I could only fly on Sunday because I was driving for the DZ on Fri,Sat. On that note, it was a very productive day! I left with a total of 22 jumps and 2 slots on my "A" card left; the #2 swop and dock and the "complete 25 skydives"! Even did my first Hop 'n' pop (on my own pack job)!!! 22 Jumps in a little over a month!! I lOVE THIS SPORT!! Now, back to my toast, Ramen noodles for lunch Yummmmm!! 17. I'd have to say, the excitement that wells up inside as you feel the plane leave the runway, the comraderie felt right before jump run when everyone's giving eachother high fives etc. .. the cooooool air when the door opens followed quickly by people whom you barely know but, have some sort of connection with, tossing themselves from the plane. Then, the awesome feeling you get when you look out to spot right before you jump, the speed, the air rushing by you singing a song you can't recite but you know the words to, The control you have over your body in high speed freefall and, the warm comforting feeling you get inside when an open canopy snatches you from certain doom. The breeze on your face when you're zipping around learning how to menuever this piece of nylon overhead, the ground moving seemingly fast underfoot on final approach the decceleration of a weel timed flare, the step down on a nice comfy landing followed by the settling of your canopy to the ground. The walk back to the pick up area while you reflect on waht a great time you had and what's next. The ride back to the hanger exchanging jump tales with a complete stranger. Wondering how long the wait is for the next load and trying to get packed before "now call"!! The peeople you meet for sure!! The willingness for the comunity to share advice in the name of safety for a newcomer. The stern lectures you get from experienced people when you do something stupid! The look on the tamndem students faces when they realize they just had the absolute best time of thier lives. Sounds a bit simple but, I think I love EVERYTHING about this sport With 18 jumps in 30 days I think the only thing I don't like is how much it costs!!! Now, back to my ramen noodles. . . 18. I've been watching this thread recently because well, I've been really wanting to learn how to spot and spot well. I love sticking my head out of the plane

  20. I feel bad for all those people who lost their jobs!! It doesn't say anything about false advertizing in the article though. Any other info? If your gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough. Your mom goes HandHeld
  21. Definitely some noob enthusiasm!! Not sure that it's gonna end though. Seems like each skydive is the best time of my life and each one after is better than the last!! Yeah, rock climb, breakdance (B-boy), snowboard, capoeira, now skydiving. . . too much fun for one person to be allowed to have!! "The Cookie Lady" huh? Nice! My breakdance friends seem to have labeled me Frijol Saltando or Jumping Bean Works for dancing and I guess it worrks out pretty well for . . .jumping out of airplanes!! Thanks for the great comments guys (and gals). If your gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough. Your mom goes HandHeld
  22. WoooHoooo!!! Graduated AFF this weekend (saturday) then went on to get 2 more jumps that day and hopped on the sunset load last night!! Don't worry after saturdays fun ended the beer began It's the craziest feeling. . .On my fist solo jump I did a bunch of maneuvers that I'd learned from AFF, diving exit w/ front loops, some turns, back loop, tracked forward (perpendicular to the jump run of course) did a barrel roll while tracking and STILL had alot of altitude left to hang out and relax!! I can't believe how looooong that 1st solo felt with no real agenda and no body around me!! Well, 10 jumps now, time to start really working on those "A" card check offs!! 25. Now that I'll wholeheartedly agree with!! I ve only been skydiving three weekends now and I already got a part time job at the DZ as a driver to shuttle jumpers back and forth from the hangar to the LZ!! The pay isn't spectacular but I DO get paid to BE around skydiving!! I get to talk to people about thier gear, watch/learn how to pack, help the pilot start the engines in the morning, watch the experienced jumpers fly their canopies and land and, basically just learn the ins/outs of the whole DZ operation!!! I have a well paying full time job (and a huge mass of crap to pay for from MY irresposible decisions) but, this really puts me in the middle of it all! and a day of work ends up giving me 3 free jump tickets!! (I still have to rent gear untill I get my own) The best way to learn and be a part of something is total imersion IMHO!! If your gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough. Your mom goes HandHeld
