  1. I take it you have never made a mistake then ??? --------------------------------------------------------- I once went to fart and followed through, on my first day in my new job. I also am not sure what mentioning my past errors has to do with helping sort out the future situation ???? ---------------------------------------------------------- I thought it was a case of Pot calling the kettle black My post is more aimed at how things might improve rather than kicking over past mistakes ... Perhaps you have the solution then george ???? -------------------------------------------------------- No not really, just thought i would stir it up a bit... G http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  2. Hi, correct me if I'm wrong Jaap. But I think that what you’re trying to say is that, do enough base jumps and eventually it will bite you in the arse. Knowing this where do you draw the line, how many jumps are you prepared to do? I think it is realistically possible to due 100,000 + jumps of the Perrine and be fine. You would just need to take a bit of care, not get cocky and maintain your gear. I also think that if you do 1000 jumps off an under hung, 300ft cliff, you will be lucky to get away without a cliff strike and therefore lucky to be alive. I think that there are only a small number of people with over a 1000 base jumps (26). I think in 10 years time a 1000 jumps will not be a remarkable achievement and there will be 100’s of jumpers to reach this level. I think the reason why there are so few people with over a 1000 jumps is down to the amount of active jumpers in the past over the last 10 years. Just how many people were actually jumping that much. So I think getting back to your poll, it's really down to the individual person on how risky base is. If you push it hard, you should be aware of the risks and take on board that if you keep pushing it hard, you are lightly to get into trouble. Make the right choice’s, aim to go long not hard, and I think that there is no reason you can't jump for the next 50 years and have every chance of making it. 3. So the "old" system of self regulation is increasingly under pressure from those who would ignore / abuse the system or those with perhaps a commercial or other interest. ----------------------------------------------------------- Errrm.... like when you ignored advice and decided to jump a difficult building when you had 7 jumps and then fucked it up... 4. Sorry, i don't get it, how would "search posts" help. I can't type in everyone ive ever know skydiving to see if there are any posts about them. ' Is this what you mean or do i have it wrong? G http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  5. Hi, I tend to read the incidents from time to time to check that know one I know has been hurt or worse. I would find it really helpfull if the person(s) involved could be listed in the title, that way I don't have to go through all the incidents to find out. Great site, George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  6. Is this the Gary I met in Sebastian a few years ago? If so you've changed your tune a bit! George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com

  8. Dude! I'm glad it opened ok....your right i was a bit apprehensive about jumping that pack job, can't believe you did!!! Still going to pack with clamps though... Thanks for the offer of loaned gear; it's a lot to ask someone, especially if you don't know them. Next time you’re in the UK, my turn to return the favor. Cheers George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com

  16. Hi JP. This is a topic very close to my heart... I try to tell myself that it won't happen to me, but deep down I am very aware that it is probably going to happen to me at some point. I intend to jump till I'm too old to climb the objects, that probably mean that I will be lucky / very skilled / have good judgment to make it till then. The reason I try to Kidd myself is not because I am scared of dying or death, but of what it will do to those people close to me Not so long back me and my friend Sean went on a two day bender on the spur of the moment. Both our mobiles ran out of power. Anyway to cut a long story short I was meant to be at my mum’s for Sunday lunch but didn’t turn up till Monday afternoon and hadn't rang. When I picked up the voice mail she left me it sent shivers down my spine, she was crying her eyes out down the phone and was absolutely at the end of her wick. It really made me think very hard about my jumping. In the end I decided that I can't stop jumping because a part of me would die and I would suffer for it. What I can do is make a deal with myself that I take care on all my jumps, never suck it down low just cause you like the ground rush. Never rush a pack job, don't do a jump that is too hard core, walk down if the conditions are not right. I have told her all this and she's as accepting as she can be. I also now make sure I ring if she is expecting me and I'm gonna be late! Good luck with your guilt! G http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  17. I think that practicing the method you are going to use to get out of line twists, (kicking or reaching up) should be part of your canopy drills. When I jump from kjerag and open high, I put myself into a couple of line twists by rotating in my harness, then I reach up and practice turning. I do this quite regularly in the hope that when it happens for real I will be better equiped to cope. George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  18. Sorry firstime, our English humour is a bit over your head... Lyle is a good friend of mine and I was joking about being sued for dodgy gear... http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  19. Thanks. The AFF School charges $25 a jump to jump their gear. I think that this is a bit steep. My friends live at sebastian, and I the school is british run which makes it easy is for the students to cross over to the UK system when they get back. So I really want to take them to sebastian, but think the gear rental is too much. The Drop shop at sebastian used to rent rigs for $25 a day - much more resonable, but this is closed now. (probably got sued for renting dodgy gear ) So anyone else knno anyone........ http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  20. I personally haven't experianced ground rush until I am below 300ft. The most amazing ground rush I have had was when I free falled a 215ft electric pylon. I was looking at the ground. My impact point was total un-moving where everything in my perioperal vision was swallowing me up....really nice feeling.....I have never had that over 300ft George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  21. Hi, does anyone know wher I can remt rigs from? I have three students joining my on a holiday to Sebastian in Feb. I'm trying to find the cheapest way for them to jump, and recon renting rigs rather than using the AFF school rigs is gonna be the best way. Cheers George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  22. I'll give her more than that How's it going over the pond......bet ya can't wait till summer!!! Love George xx http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  23. Still alive........just Giv us a call 07789756601 http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  24. Hey Mac, how's it going. I have been away and have a different phone so will get in contact soon.... Re the belly mount, do you know what the rules are in the UK for jumping base rig + belly mount out of a plane. I know in the states the container has to be rated. If it is possible do you know if we have rock solid rules on minimum pull height. I can't think of anything better than humming it down 200ft over Hinton, packing my shit and walking off with a grin on my face http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  25. I have now uploaded the lineover movie to www.skydivingmovies.com Search for "Norway 2004 by Georgeous George" Sorry but the line over is just a small bit towards the end, you will have to download the whole thing. I will try and seperate it when I get time and upload just that bit Thanks George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
