Motorcycle People Please Help Me Out :)
LuckyMcSwervy replied to LuckyMcSwervy's topic in The Bonfire
They're cute!! Thanks!! There's tons of used scooters on CraigsList but it looks like they were from rental fleets. We all know what some people do to rentals. Treat them like crap. I'd never do that to a rental but I'm afraid of taking a chance on getting a dud and not having any recourse with a warranty and stuff like that. I figure a few thousand dollars vs. a few hundred dollars will be worth it in the long run. Always be kinder than you feel. -

I like your analogy. I had a Honda Metropolitan over the summer. Jap bike? Rice burner? Better my sister in a whorehouse than my brother on a Honda! You Harley guys are a riot!! Does Harley make a scooter? Always be kinder than you feel. -

I'm not knocking your desire for a scooter. I think they're great. I failed to place the home page of the scooters.. http://www.propelimports.com/ Just for measurements sake... 50 CC will get you about 40mph as top end, but you don't want to run top end all the time. That's what wears them out. 100 CC will get you about the same, but with a little more power on acceleration. 150CC will get you about 60-70 MPH but a cruise speed of about 45 MPH. I have a buddy who owns a custom chopper shop, he sells the crap out of those Propel Scooters. The only thing I don't like about scooters (in general) is their tin can mufflers. ETA: I kinda like the Honda Helix that Wendy posted. Just not familiar with it. If it weren't for Harleys, my next choice would be a Honda. Thanks for that. I didn't understand the cc thing but now I understand it a little better. And thanks for the link. I like poking around and seeing what's out there. I have a Honda for my car and have had a great time with it. It's a 2007 and runs like a champ. It's not going anywhere. I'll her her until she dies. -
If I was lucky enough to be a Muff Brother I wouldn't be insulted being called an asshole. Since I'm not a Muff Brother, I'm insulted. But hey, I can handle my gripes like an adult and don't call concerned, kind hearted and responsible strangers assholes on the Internet. Except Shah. I think I've called him worse. Thanks, Wendy. I never even thought of an electric scooter. Thanks for the link. They're cute. Plus, the site mentioned about storing then inside the house. Good idea! Always be kinder than you feel. -

Many of us assholes went above and beyond for a stranger who wasn't keen on helping herself and using the proper channels that were suggested by many well meaning and kind hearted people. Regardless of your insult, I'm glad you're supposedly getting your gear back. Hope it isn't tampered with. Always be kinder than you feel.

Hi Jerry - Thanks for the link! I saw that one during my web browsing the other day and bookmarked it so I could take another look. The model name has absolutely nothing to do with my interest. Vino! Love it!! -

Well i gotta through in my 2 cents ;) skins replacable, I checked the hard way but im still pretty dashing (well I think so atleast), ive been riding 10 years and wont touch a 2 wheel death machine without a helmet, got my 250cc endorcement when I was 15 and hit a deer 2 days before my 16th birthday, woke up half way through my bitter 16 to a room of people crying cause I woke up and the doc said I might not, 28 broken bones 2 fractured vertibre. Helmet saved my life, jacket saved alot of skin but jeans didnt help much lol. 750, 000 bucks worth of surgery and 2 months in a in patient rehab hospital later I was back on 2 wheels with 0 metal plates in me, I hate to be doom and gloom but im 21 covered in tattoos and reguarded as a "badass" to some and ill never be cought either without a helmet or drinking and ridinging.....wheelies, speed limits, splitting lanes etc are much safer than riding with no helmet Glad you didn't die. I can confidently state I won't be doing wheelies or splitting lanes. Or have a passenger. Or drink and scoot. Always be kinder than you feel. -
The last time I saw Little Ricky he was down at the Tropicana singing with his Dad's band. I'd start there. Not.....he was the drum player.

It'll be registered in Florida. I have no problem paying the extra insurance just to have the option to ride without a helmet if the mood should strike. I know I just said I won't be riding without one but I know there will be days where I'll say eff it. It's 8000 degrees and there won't be wearing of leather on my scooter. Of that I'm sure. Light summer clothing will be as heavy as my protection will be between me and the asphalt. Maybe jeans if I'm chilly. Always be kinder than you feel. -

+10 if not for anything but the insurance and they usually have all different styles of stuff to take the class on scooters, cruisers and dual sports at least where i took mine saddle bag=2 groceries hooks, and ive seen plenty of pink rebels haha also you dont HAVE to keep the rubber side down, just as long as you keep the shiny side up ;) yes I tend to replace back tires twice as much as fronts, If I ever got pulled over I plan to tell the cops the economy forces me to wheelie everywhere due to the economy XD Good to know. I'm all about getting insurance discounts along with some safety knowledge. I didn't wear a helmet during the summer but I can tell you I'll be wearing one this time! Talking about saddlebags... I wish I had a picture of me this summer lugging 50 pounds of scuba gear, actually more than that because I had my soft weights with me. I was only going 2 blocks to the dive shop but it was ridiculous looking. And dangerous. Stupid but I've seen worse down there. Like dogs platforms on the floorboard. I don't like that. Oh yeah, definitely an in-between type when it comes to this. But you give good advice anyway, so that counts. Not the best picture but Sophia enjoyed it. OHHHHH, so cute! -

By the way, I found a picture I took of the speedometer (for the mileage record) and it only goes up to 45mph so I don't think I ever hit the end of the gauge. I know I went faster on Roosevelt Boulevard along the sea wall (south side near the airport by Smathers) but I was always looking for bumps and stuff in the road since they're so fickle. The first link is the style I'm looking for. But in pink. Honestly, I promised my Dad years ago I'd never get on a motorcycle. Or get a tattoo. Seriously though, I won't throw my leg over a motorcycle. I wear skirts a lot. It's just not my thing. Plus, you can put your grocery bag on a hook on the scooter floorboard. Yeah, I'm pointing out the important stuff. I had a scooter over the summer and I don't think I ever went over 25 mph regularly. I think I got it up to 50 on a boulevard just to try it. Stupid but it just isn't built for that kind of speed. Always be kinder than you feel. -
