I have a new Racer 2K3 with magnetic riser covers and they come open almost every time I do head down. Anyone else have the same problem?
-
I have had 8 round reserve rides back in the day with no problems. Also put 100 jumps on a bag deployed lo-po reserve that I jumped as a main when I was doing style (was 1/3 the weight of a PC). I recently had a square reserve ride with no problems. In terms of reliability, are there any numbers that support whether a square or round reserve is more likely to open?

If Jumpshack could get the reserve pins down to one would be a good thing. Less is more. It would also cost less to have a single cutter.

The new Racers are nothing like the old and are worth a second look. Only the pop-top remained the same. No flap over the PC. It is totally free-fly friendly, magnetic riser covers, protected reserve pins, and oh yeah, comfortable too. Because of its tailoring it isn't like a brick or a box on your back. The service that Jumpshack provides is excellent and personal. A Racer is like the Mac of rigs, and not the PC.

Mine fits like a glove.

Come on everyone. Upper winds and winds aloft both describe the type of air that circulates inside the airplane on the clime up. its the air that no one will take responsibility for. Who would want to know its speed?

Has anyone ever seen, touched or jumped an Advance Seven http://www.basik.fr/en/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=189&category_id=6&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1&vmcchk=1

After several jumps on a demo Pulse 170, I got one. I am an older skydiver with 1800+ jumps so I wanted a canopy with openings that were consistent and on heading. The Pulse delivers with very low opening drama. The Pulse will get you back to the DZ on a bad spot. This was a priority for me. Landing out increases the chance of injury. There is no problem packing, and old guys like me that use larger canopies can still have something that packs up small. A nice feature is the fabric that is used. It feels like ladies underwear, which makes packing a whole new experience. The Pulse has plenty of drive and landings are Charmin soft.

Short body, long legs. Everyone drops below me fast in sit fly. Need a fast sit fly suit. Any suggestions

I just got back into jumping after 30+ years and used the club's old racer. I was so impressed by it that I bought a used 2K3. The rig didn't fit (too big) but was very happy with the improvements over the older racer, except for the tuck tab riser covers. They kept un-tucking. I think part of the problem was because the rig didn't fit well over the shoulders. Anyway, I sold the rig and ordered a new 2K3. It comes with magnetic riser covers. I hope my new rig looks as good as yours. Smart choice.

Way hard to find so I copied it once found. See attached

I am having a 2K3 made for me by Jumpshack and they said there is no difference in the pack volume between an Optimum 160 and a PD 160. Any comments?

I made only made 4 jumps on a Pulse 170, but I can give you my 2 cents. All geared up I weigh about 200 lbs. All 4 openings were on heading and 3 of the 4 jumps were in the peas. On 2 jumps the spot was over the horizon and I made it back with room to spare. Packing couldn't be easier. For me the canopy lived up to all the hype.

Found the volume in the packing manual. 416 cu. in.
-
Only did a brief search for the pack volume numbers. I want the exact volume compared to another canopy so I can have a container made without sending them my canopy.
-
I am about to buy a Pilot 168 and want to get a true idea of what its' actual pack volume is. There are no other Pilot canopies around to check and I don't trust the numbers you get from the manufacturers. What other canopy has the nearest pack volume to a Pilot 168.

Is farting in the plane considered winds aloft?

Here we go. I have about 1500 jumps on a Para-Commander. I have also jumped triangular things and squares. I have had 8 round reserve rides. Manage to land on the DZ each time via good spotting (a lost art). I used a 23' low profile steerable reserve and the landings were fine. Even had a a few stand-ups. I put 100 jumps on an Irving "Protector" reserve deployed from a bag. I used it as a main canopy for turning style. It weighed two thirds less than a PC. It had about 4 mph drive and stand-ups were the norm, but it was the spotting that made all the difference. You have more options where to put a square down off the DZ. The safety factor for reserves has increased I believe, not because its square or round, but because it is deployed from a container mounted on your back and not on your chest. Rear mounted round reserves in a bag would be very safe. Less parts - no slider or worry about or line twists. How many malfunctions are chopped with a fully inflated main with only line twists or a tangled slider. Would you rather land in a car park under a fully opened round reserve with line twists than to land on grass with a square reserve with line twists or tangled slider?

I want to order a Racer 2K3 and they want you to tell them what format you want: power racer, Thinline, square back, or narrow. What are they referring to?

Hey, I'm an old timer who just got back into the sport after 30 years. I got about 1600 jumps on rounds and another 100 or so on some of the first squares and some on triangular things. Anyway, I am now jumping a Sabre 2 - 170 and I can not get the flair right. I crash and burn in low wind conditions. I flair too low, or too high, or not quick enough, or too much too soon. Someone please take the time to put a good description together to help me do it right.
