  1. Kinda... With a driver (say, 180 lbs), the car has a much higher power / weight ratio. Remster
  2. Pffft... Every night, I pray for the sun to rise again tomorrow. Heretic. Remster
  3. Oh the pain and suffering you must be enduring. And John: last time, the tickets you sold me were defective. These better work. Remster
  4. I have the street version A SV 650. Pretty much all stock. Great bike for the city, and takes to the highway pretty well, Tho, at 6'2, I wouldn't ride it for long distances. Remster
  5. I had to google that. Fascinating: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinetic_energy_recovery_system What this doesn't explain is how it is activated. Is it linked into the throttle and brake pedals? It's activated by a button on the steering wheel. It's regenerated by the engine during braking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si7GG_bvo-I Remster
  6. We're talking cars, not bikes, but next year's Formula 1 regulations call for 1.6 L engines. And you can bet they will be close to 700 hp (with another 160 in KERS) I think the owners of racing engines expect to do engine overhauls a *lot* more often than the typical street car owner is prepared to do. No argument there... F1 engines must last 2 race weekends (or 3, cant remember now) without any major component changes. But that's it. Still pretty amazing when you think about it. Remster

  8. Where is Skydance? I can't find them. Your google-fu is weak. http://bit.ly/14x2BHg I found the same guys, however, I don't see on the site that they sell any equipment? I found Actionair on that site it in 2 clicks. Do you want us to order it for you? Remster
  9. The visual alti and the audible are 2 separate, distinct pieces of gear. The work separately, are not connected or anything like that. The visual is there to give you an indication of your altitude whenever you look at it (most wear it on their wrists). The audible is there to give you a warning when you get to a certain altitude you present before you jump (the audible fits in a pocket inside your helmet). Having a unit beep on your wrist wont do you any good. Having 2 distinct units also gives you redundancy in case one decides to crap out on you (it happens) Remster
  10. Gear, in Europe, is generally more expensive. Also, there isn't as much used gear going around it seems, so it may be harder to find. Some countries (France for example) have a mandatory wing load limit for the first few 100 jumps. Not sure about Germany, but I'd check that before getting a rig. There's some awesome DZ's out there, either sea-side, or in the mountains, so enjoy! Remster

  12. My nuts are much easier to access: [opens mouth to say something funny... and yet nothing to say] Remster
  13. Whoa! A chick that adjusts her own chain; I'm impressed! (I'd forgotten about the military mechanic history.) She didnt say the chain. She said she tightened the nuts. Remster
  14. Typical: no. I pull at or just below 3k on most normal jumps. This being said, I have enjoyed the odd low hop and pop before that this would have rendered impossible. Remster
  15. That, right there, is my problem.... Evan: What do YOU think is an adequate amount of time to take to get stable after a cutaway? Remster
  16. again: YOU SHOULD NOT WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE STABLE TO PULL RESERVE! RSL or not. Mad skillz or not. Remster

You Prairie people can really go suck on it. (I hope you have fun ) Remster
  18. You're commenting on a video of a jumper having bad day below 2k. If you want to have a discussion about stability drills on exit, start your own thread. Remster
  19. You've never seen (video of) a first-jump AFF student tumbling out of the sky? edit: Or are you talking about "trying to get stable before saying fuck it and deploying"? Your wording was a bit vague. It's not pull time for a AFF student when they are tumbling over after exit at 12k. After you cutaway, you pull reserve. Period. Regardless if you an "absolute newbie" or a guy jumping a crossbraced. Remster
