  4. Tunnel crashes? Exactly what could go wrong at a tunnel that would endanger flyers? Honest question. Chuck: a motor did fall into the chamber in Orlando a couple years back. No one was hurt but it was a close call I believe. Similarly, poorly maintained fans on more modern design could vibrate themselves into destruction, sending shards of metal through the recirculating chamber. Regarding competition and price cutting: look into the European market and what's happening: I don't see any unethical price cutting. Besides, having one competitor in the market may just be what the market needs in the US. Remster
  5. Hey, don't get me wrong: I'd love me some cheaper time! lol I guess we're putting the cart before the horse. Till the start digging holes, welding metal, and not getting sued, there ain't no tunnel there yet! Remster
  6. Pigeon Forge and Vegas are not iFly/Skyventure AFAIK The most important is that Arizonians will discover the "no sandblast tunnel" Pigeon Forge and Vegas aren't competition. I'm talking about hourly rates for team-worthy tunnels. A new player in the business might drive rates down as they try to capture market share. Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to happen in the local market here. I bet the new tunnel will be pricing significantly higher that SkyventureAZ. The clean (airflow, not sand ) recirc air will be a big advantage. But, we'll see!
  7. No more iFly monopoly. Could this be the beginning reduced prices? Well, we have it pretty good already at Eloy... But I won't complain if prices go down! http://www.jumpticketprices.com/tunnels.asp?currency=USD Remster
  8. I've spent a few nights in a Sleep Number bed in some hotel chain.... Worst nights sleep I had in decades. Remster

  12. Often, but not always. And don't make looking for your cutaway main your #1 priority. Finding a good spot to land in is by far more important. Remster
  13. This parody http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=29893#29893 (see original version for reference) http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=29822#29822 I'm going to start a change.org petition to bring AlienAngel back. That guy has some balls Remster
  14. Then again, with the way some of the young kids go about things, we'd have our pick! Remster
  15. Amateur mistake running out of beer. Spoken like a true master. Only difference is, you were in a tent at sunrise. Not yours though. As if you would drink beer.... Remster
  16. https://soloshot.com/ I saw a store list it for $299. Sounds like an interesting ground based canopy shooting option. Or, mount it to the helmet if you don't know how to use a ring sight! Remster
  17. "Is it better to fly 15 minutes every week or one hour every month?" You know very well what you'll end up doing now that you'll ave a tunnel next door. \ One hour every week. Remster
  18. His brother posted this on Sky's FB account: "Picked up Sky's bike tonight, will post picture's of the bike and the crash site. We all went out the the crash site and from the damage to the bike which is very little " right side bar is broke, air breather is broke, carb mounts are broke " and from the witnesses and pictures I took tells the story as best as i can figure out. He was coming into a big S curve and the witnesses said he was having acceleration issues so we are assuming he was bent down on the right side of the bike messing with the fuel line and was slowly moving toward the right hand side curve and when he was done and looked up he was at the curb and hit it and kept the bike up riding the curb for about 20 feet till the curve started to turn and that's when the bike laid down and pinned his right let under the bike so he could not bail off or get off the bike and he slid about another 20 feet and with his right leg pinned under the bike and hit a light pole with his head, the pole stopped Sky and the bike kept going about another 20 feet and hit some bush's and flipped about 5 times down a bank and came to rest at the bottom. My brother was the type to keep his personal business to himself, but I feel you all should know how he died, this will help some and bring more pain for others and I am sorry if it does." Remster
  19. There is no physical way that you can shift loading front to back on risers when they are connected to the same point by changing your position in the harness. Remster
  20. What???? What happened? Remster
  21. Wanna BET?! Maybe as a STUDENT you don't notice the difference, but put a few thousand jumps on 'big - fat' canopies & you'll see a definite & marked improvement regarding performance. I have a few large canopies used for demo jumps...I've gone to removable sliders on most of them. Pull the release handle and as the slider comes off & the drag is gone - & the risers get full spread ~ it's like lighting the afterburner! Didn't know river barges had after-burners... Remster
  22. In a static wind situation, correct. The point of turbulence is that it's rapidly changing wind speeds and direction. The canopy will try and keep a study wind speed (assuming no input from the jumper) during that change. That means, if the winds slow down dramatically in reference to the canopy, it will speed up. This will have an effect on both groundspeed, V and H. Why do you think we don't like landing in turbulence? Remster
