Possible Stolen Gear on Ebay! (Possibly Midwest area)
jumpergirl replied to kansasskydiver's topic in The Bonfire
Luckily I knew a skydiver who had a pawn shop. Of course I didn't get any special treatment, but he was very cool about it and promised not to let anything happen to it. I got it back about 6 months later. -
Possible Stolen Gear on Ebay! (Possibly Midwest area)

Several years ago I had to pawn my rig. I had nothing else of value and needed money desperately. Maybe that's what happened here. Maybe someone had to pawn their rig(s) and wasn't able to pay it off so they lost it. Then again, who knows. -
What damage will a rake do to a snake?? If he had a garden hoe, maybe.

No, not those. I would screamed like a little girl if I'd have seen one of those!! This one was much smaller. About as thick as a magic marker, maybe. But definitely black.

They were actually terrified of those snakes, but wanted to act courageous to make a good impression on you. Did it work? They'll be asking you out later: "So, baby, remember the time I saved you from those evil snakes? Yeah, well, how about having dinner with me Friday night?" That's why before and especially after that I made sure to mention my fiance more than once.

My grandfather served with Chesty Puller and was also turned down for assignment to Vietnam because he was about to retire. They drafted and sent my dad instead. I am so incredibly proud of my dad, grandfather and grandmother who are all Marines. Grandpa retired as a Marine. Grandma and Daddy were both honorably discharged. Happy Birthday Marines! And thank you for all you have done.

Having snakes in this office would probably fit right in. My office is (literally) at the end of a barn. It's a stucco company and they have been working out of their house for a long time. They finally hired me (their only "real" employee) to run the office so they won't have to come in so much. They have 7 horses (I think, maybe 6 or 8) and at least 5 dogs, maybe 6. I saw a cat this morning, too. It's a good thing I love animals, especially doggies!!!

I have no idea. The one I saw was skinny and black. It was partly under a small box so I have no idea how long it was. My guess is a garder (?) snake, but I don't know.

I didn't say the guys killed the snakes. They just moved them to get into the storage box. Geez... a funny story gets brought down by the first two replies. Thanks guys. It's still funny to me!

At my office we have a long driveway to the building. At the end of the driveway is the mailbox and a storage box for deliveries. I left to go to the store and saw we had a delivery. When I got back, I opened the storage box to find a SNAKE crawling all over the boxes inside. (Not a big snake, but a snake none-the-less!) This week I've been the only one here, but today 3 of our contractors are here doing yard work type stuff. I got in my truck and drove back to the office and went out back to get one of the guys. I told him there was a snake in the delivery box and I needed what was inside. He said, "I can't do snakes, but I'll see what I can do." Then I look behind him and another guy is running across the field with a rake yelling "Where is it?! Where's the snake? I'll get it!" The third guy is riding the tractor as fast as the little thing will go saying, "I'm coming, too!" A few minutes later the first guy comes in with my delivery and says, "There were two snakes in there." I said, "They weren't big. Maybe garden snakes?" He said, "It doesn't matter. A snake is a snake and I don't like them." At least they got them, I got my delivery, and I got a laugh out of seeing three grown men acting like 8 year olds!

Nice theory you've got there.

Thanks for taking the time to post all of that... but a simple link to the website would have saved you a lot of time, not to mention copying and pasting.

Hahahaha! That's great!

I have extended my financial aid and can't afford to pay for college on my own. I have spent the last 10 years going to school at night when I can and still don't have a degree. I hope someone can use this and can get a scholarship to help them get started. It's as simple as requesting the info, but it does take a while to get it. The sooner you get it back to them, the better you are. You have to write a short essay about why you deserve it, but that's much easier than coming up with the money to pay tuition.

A recent conversation with a friend brought up a question. Is there any where for people to live in Baton Rouge? I mean, if someone were transferred there for work, are there any apartments or houses left? We drove through there a few weeks ago and it seemed ok, but a little busier than I remember. My dad is down there working with the rebuilding and he says it's super packed because of the New Orleans people who moved there. So, what happens to someone who gets moved to Baton Rouge for whatever reason?

When I graduated 10 years ago, I received a small scholarship from a Marine Corp group since my father, grandfather, and grandmother were all Marines. I requested the information again this year hoping I could qualify again. However, it is only offered to graduating seniors. It takes a while to get the information. I have it now, so if there are any graduating student who are children or grandchildren of an honorably discharged Marine, let me know and I'll send this to you so maybe you can get a little help with your college tuition.

I just went to my 10 year class reunion. I started jumping when I was still IN high school, so everyone was really impressed that I'm still jumping and live in Florida. I'm from a small town in North East Texas, so it was nice to tell them I don't live there anymore and see the looks on their faces when they said, "I'm still stuck here." I had a good time and it was nice seeing old familiar faces and catching up with a couple of my close friends from then. But, like the others have said, if you don't want to go, don't. Mine wasn't that big of a deal, but I'm glad I went.

SkyFest SkyFest SkyFest All other are... well... others.

Awesome! Congrats. If we're around there then, we'll be happy to help.

Hmmm... how could I have guessed that was what you'd say?

Happy Birthday J-dot!!!
