    The legal profession is consistently one of the most despised in America. Right now, member of Congress ranks at the bottom of the list in most polls, and members of Congress are overwhelmingly lawyers. I just hate to see a talented young person throw away her morals and good name for the sake of a few dollars. You don't have to outrun the bear.

    When I was teaching my kids to drive, I told them to "look where the danger's coming from". If you're a Black parent, you have to realize that the biggest threat to your kids is not some old white guy. It's another Black guy. The Zimmerman case attracted a lot of attention. The Dunn case attracted a lot of attention. In the two years between these cases, about 16,000 Black people have been killed by other Black people. Is this just so common that it's not newsworthy?     So while we're on the subject, I'm curious about something. The Bible says God created man in His image, and Bible believers don't like Darwin's theory of evolution. The Bible also says God said "Let there be light" and there was light, but I've never heard a Bible believer raise an objection to Maxwell's theory of electromagnetism. What's the difference ?     I'm still waiting for a revelation about the NSA that is surprising. During the Cold War, there were "rumors" that the Soviets went to West Germany to steal an IBM 360 computer because they found out that those they had bought were bugged. The Soviets in turn were known to have installed keystroke capture bugs in IBM Selectric typewriters used in sensitive U.S. installations. I guess these shocking revelations will continue as long as the clueless press considers them fascinating. You don't have to outrun the bear.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) picked Alaska, Nevada, New York, North Dakota, Texas and Virginia. The sites are part of a programme to develop safety and operational rules for drones by the end of 2015. Hitherto mainly used by the military, the potential of drones is now being explored by everyone from real estate agents to farmers or delivery services. The head of the FAA, Michael Huerta, said safety would be the priority as it considers approval for unleashing the unmanned aircraft into US skies. Pilots will be notified through routine announcements about where drones are being flown. You don't have to outrun the bear.

    "cryptocoin" illustrates the main problem with bitcoin. It was developed by someone who, like cryptocoin, has an online identity but is otherwise anonymous.     It's just another indication that lawyers are alive and well and anybody with any money is fair game in their sights. Cantor Fitzgerald - a Wall Street financial firm which lost over 600 employees in the World Trade Center on 9/11 - just got a $135 million settlement from American Airlines. Cantor's suit claimed that AA was negligent because they allowed terrorists to board their planes. Note that Cantor didn't advise their employees not to come to work that day, They didn't know there was going to be an attack any more than AA did. This lawsuit happiness has nothing to do with Bush, Obama, the CIA, the FBI, Lee Harvey Oswald, space aliens, or any other deep, hidden conspiracy. It is purely and simply a consequence of our crap-shoot civil litigation system. I'm surprised Andy hasn't sued you for all the emotional distress you're causing him.     The death penalty's kinda like a nuclear weapon. You want to have it just in case, but you don't want to use it unless it's really necessary. The bigger issue here is that there are a lot of problems Congress needs to tackle, and this is nowhere near the top of the list. For instance, she could introduce a bill to specify term limits for Congress. You don't have to outrun the bear.

    So your problem is really with the guys who see the green light and have to go immediately regardless what the guy in the door sees ?? Easily solved. If you're a little short, hold your hand up and wait for a few seconds, then go. If you're way, way off, move over and invite the loudmouths to go ahead. Some people can't be told, they have to be shown. (Well, have a little consideration. Don't let them go out over a big lake or a formation of Chinook helicopters!) You don't have to outrun the bear.

    This one isn't that complicated. The homeowner didn't need to go out of his house. In fact, it was stupid to go out and confront the guy ringing his doorbell. Mister "I felt threatened" apparently never heard of an ambush. In this case, all the arguments about castle doctrine and stand your ground are superseded by pure stupidity.     That's not as big a contradiction as it sounds at first. You can do things without influencing others to do things. President Obama is not a good negotiator, he's not a really analytical guy, he's not a problem solver. He hasn't done anything for black people, despite their initial hopes. I haven't heard any black high school kids saying, "I want to be like the President." I doubt if any corporate ceo's are saying "We should follow the President's example of honesty in our dealings with our customers." By his very presence, any President can be responsible for things. That's due to his legal authority. To be truly influential, a person has to have technical or moral authority. Those things Obama ain't got. You don't have to outrun the bear.
