The 44 mag stamp on the barrel looks after-market. Easy enough to test it. Secure it to a bench ( old tire and a couple of sandbags ), put in a hot factory load, pull trigger with a string. If that's ok, shoot a magazine full rapidly to test functioning. Good luck. You don't have to outrun the bear.

The guy who owns Chick-fil-a is known to have strong religious beliefs. Doesn't bother me, cause we have Zaxby's nearby. I get a bigger kick out of the politicians who don't want Chick-fil-a in their town because they don't agree with the owners beliefs. I could swear I heard Rahm Emmanuel say, "That boy's different fum us. We don't want him in ar town." We can always count on the enemies of intolerance to show us what intolerance looks like. I thought it started slow, then ended with quite a bang. I've been reading Churchill's History of the English Speaking Peoples, so I didn't mind the bit of history they threw in, but I found the later parts of the ceremony more inspiring. You don't have to outrun the bear.

Good going getting to this point. From here, it just gets easier and more fun. I wanted to elaborate on the reason you get vague responses to this type of question on DZ.com. The people who post here want you to do well, and they know that the best way to do that is follow your instructors advice. The phrase in your post about things to be thinking about is what caught my attention. You really don't want to over-think this stuff. Keeping your mind clear and relaxed is a big part of success. You can't pour more water in a bowl that's already full. Get your instructor's briefing for the jump you're about to do, do it, and have fun. You don't have to outrun the bear.

Well, if you have a 16 ounce drink in each hand, instead of a single 32 oz. drink, how will you hold a weapon? Let's not be too quick to dismiss a solution until we fully understand the simple beauty of it's effectiveness. You don't have to outrun the bear.

IMHO, Waco and the Davidians is not a good example to illustrate any point you'd want to make. The thing about the gun control conversation is that it always starts with "we shouldn't let lunatics have assault rifles", then when it gets to a more detailed level, it devolves into something resembling Bloomberg's ban on sugary soft drinks bigger than 16 ounces. My own feeling is that if there's any relief to be had from lunatics with weapons, it lies more in the area of mental health services. Carry on. You don't have to outrun the bear.

I used to have one of those; no brakes, just your legs. It's a lot of fun to balance at a stop sign or light, then take off, but they are pure hell in hilly terrain. Put me down for a freewheel. You don't have to outrun the bear.

Seen it a couple of times on gear that was way more than a year old. That's one of many things that should be inspected periodically. Don't know what it costs to fix. You don't have to outrun the bear.

Well, in midieval England, the Church levied taxes; lots of them. Some of the taxes went to help the poor, some to build bigger churches. As far as the root cause of abuse, that can't all be laid at government's feet. Just for example, a few years ago, the head of United Way was found to be using donations for his private expenses. Almost all charitable organizations have suffered some misappropriation of funds. I'd say that the root cause is human greed, plus the availability of something to get greedy about. I hope we don't close all the emergency rooms because some people come in looking for drugs to feed their addiction, nor close all the soup kitchens because some people who don't really need the charity abuse it. "...the safest way to answer the door at 1:30 a.m." Actually, I can answer that. A stranger knocked on my door at 3:00 a.m. recently. I looked out the window, saw someone I didn't know, and called the cops. I didn't go to the door, but watched the person and kept the dispatcher informed. Turns out the cops were already looking for the guy, who ran into the backyard when cops approached. Cops with a dog caught him in a neighbor's backyard about ten minutes later. You're reserving judgement. The talking heads on the news networks know no such restraint. Yes, they've already decided he played lots of video games. I agree with Spence; just move this to SC. Condolences to all those affected. You don't have to outrun the bear.

I can answer some of them: 2. Boys on one side, girls on the other side. 8. 6 ways - call them, text them, email them, send them a letter with an invite, put something on facebook, tweet about it on twitter. 13. That's just gay, dude. You don't have to outrun the bear.

Actually, hero worshiping the rich fell out of favor in the period around 1900 - 1910 (give or take a few years) when several regulations and reforms were put in place to check the power of those who could simply go out and buy votes. There is an element today that would like to turn the clock back about a hundred years, but that might be a little off topic for this discussion, since the point of argument here seems to be centered around the differences between the stone age and the bronze age. Actually the Wall Street Journal came down pretty hard on Romney today because he's not living up to Rupert Murdoch's standards. You don't have to outrun the bear.

You mean like Paul Wolfowitz, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Phil Gramm, et al. ? The Republicans who are so fond of remembering Ronald Reagan would do well to remember this: After the Reagan presidency, the voters elected another Republican. After the Bush presidency, they didn't. You don't have to outrun the bear.

You've summed up the Democratic Party very briefly and accurately. The goal is laudable; the execution deplorable. The health care law is a poorly crafted, complicated piece of legislation that, at the very least, needs some refinement. This happened because the Democrats argued amongst themselves for a year, then allowed any legislator to put whatever he wanted in the bill in order to get enough votes to pass it. My favorite example was the absolutely unrelated and ridiculous 1099 reporting requirement that was part of the health care law and has already been removed. Now the challenge is to pay for health care for all with something that the President doesn't want to call a tax and the Supreme Court doesn't want to call a mandate. Here's an article that summarizes most of the provisions http://www.journalofaccountancy.com/News/20125972.htm Including some that don't seem to have a lot to do with health care: Change to cellulosic biofuel producer credit (Sec. 40): Excludes from the definition of cellulosic biofuel any fuels that (1) are more than 4% (determined by weight) water and sediment in any combination or (2) have an ash content of more than 1% (determined by weight) (so-called black liquor). (Effective 2010.) Expanded 1099 reporting: This change was repealed by the Comprehensive 1099 Taxpayer Protection and Repayment of Exchange Subsidy Overpayments Act of 2011, P.L. 112-9. Kahneman's book "Thinking - Fast and Slow" is very interesting. For my part, I can't look at a question like this without spending a lot of time wondering if it's a trick question. You don't have to outrun the bear.

Amelia Earhart: New evidence tells of her last days on a Pacific atoll
Bertt replied to ryoder's topic in The Bonfire
At least this explains why Amelia hasn't been returning my phone calls. I always thought she ran off somewhere with that "Fred" guy. Speculative question: would the plane have had a life raft on board, and would they have tried to use it to get to a bigger island if they weren't rescued after a few days?
