Apparently Laurel Clark was a Skydiver. http://www.nytimes.com/2003/02/01/national/nationalspecial/02PROF2.html?ex=1044766800&en=2ce0db2de397dc5e&ei=5062&partner=GOOGLE

  3. I just heard it on the radio on ABC news.
  4. Although condolences continue to pour in from all over the world including Yassar Arafat, I think it's notewothy to quote Tariq Aziz from Iraq: "This is God's retribution, we are so very happy this has happened".
  5. Might try Bevsuits. www.Bevsuit.com/ She's in PA but still does modifications I think.
  6. Any chance you could post that letter here? I know SSK has spent a lot of time working with Southwest and it's good to know they had a positive effect. Bob
  7. Excuse me while I remove my tongue from my cheek.
  8. Very well said Andie. Keep that attitude. It will serve you well in this sport. Bob
  9. It seems it's more important not to hurt someones feelings when they screw-up. You should never try to tell them what they did wrong because they already know it. And never try to point out something they did wrong which they may not have considered because after all unless you know them and have jumped with them, you have no right to judge. Their feelings are the most important issue. Not what additional insights you might have.
  10. I do think you are being a little too hard on Kevin. I originally questioned whether his 200+ jumps were sufficient for jumping a Birdman Suit because Birdmans Flight manual states a minimum of 500 jumps. I have since been informed they approve you with 200 jumps if you get proper instruction beforehand. My opinion on this is the subject of another thread. Kevin screwed up and he knows it. There's no further benefit to him or anyone else for you to continue to deride him. Bob
  11. I was referring to what they recommend in their Flight Manual http://www.bird-man.com/pdf/Flight%20manual.pdf There does seem to be some conflict as to what experience they recommend and I don't have time right now to research it. According to Kevin, he was check-out and given the OK. I do appologize to Kevin if it is true that even with as little as 200 jumps, Birdmansuits is OK with him jumping, my personal view on this notwithstanding. Bob
  12. Not trying to bash you here Kevin, but unless you haven't updated your profile in a while, it indicates you have around 200 jumps and a "C" license. Birdman suits recommends a MINIMUM of 500 jumps before even beginning to "learn" to fly one. Perhaps you should think a little about why they recommend 500 as a minimum and consider whether it's advisable to continue at your level of experience. Bob
  13. Can you post the text of those letters here so we can see where they say a cypres is allowed? Bob
  14. As evidenced by Ms. Futch, they acted on Delta's policy. Did you ask for their policy on parachutes or Cypres. Big difference. Let us know what their policy on Cypres is O.K.? Which is EXACTLY what I did. Read my original post. The problem isn't with Parachutes. It's with a Cypres. You can get their policy on parachutes from their web page. No angry rant. Not an unrealistic demand. I simply made an offer to try and set things right and to hopefully educate them. _Am
  15. Here is Delta's latestsolution to ensuring Skydivers they will be allowed to carry Cypres equiped rigs on their planes: Dear Mr. Hanrahan: This will acknowledge your message regarding your experience at the Washington Dulles International Airport and our recent exchanges of correspondence. Our highest priority is always the safety and security of our passengers. Therefore, as mentioned previously, we reserve the right to refuse to transport any questionable item. Nonetheless, we regret your continued disappointment. Mr. Hanrahan, while we appreciate your concern, we respectfully decline your request for a meeting with Delta officials. However, please be assured that your comments have been forwarded to the appropriate department heads for review. Your feedback will be helpful in our review of this aspect of our service and in identifying any necessary changes. Your selection of Delta is appreciated, and we will always do our best to merit your confidence and support. Sincerely, Heather Futch Manager Customer Care ---------------------------------------------------------------- Translation: We aren't willing to do anything which might alleviate yours and all other skydivers concerns about flying with your rig. We don't want to meet with you even though it might be helpful to us to understand why the Cypres is perfectly safe. We would rather leave it up to our ignorant security people. But please know we still want your money because we "CARE" so much. I am in the process of writing my reply. Will post it when I'm done. Bob
  16. Warum man nicht gerade heraus mit uns für eine Weile hängt? Wir sind eine internationale Gruppe morons.
  17. The problem the airlines have isn't with parachutes. They all have policies in which they state parachutes are O.K. The problem is with your Cypres If you read what I have written in the *Warning re: Delta Airlines thread and what Delta has responded with, you will see this is true. The problem is with your Cypres. Don't be fooled by Deltas response. I have other information I may post in the future which shows them to be dishonest and deceptive with regards to other dealings I've had with them. Bob
  18. Thank-you for your vigilance in this matter, Jim. I hope, as a community, we can keep up the pressure on Delta by continuing to bring this and other incidents up before we book tickets. We need to let them know that this type of ignorance towards our gear is not acceptable. We need to make the point over and over by the only language they understand--MONEY Bob
  19. Have you tried telephoning membership services?
