Great job, Good last minute decision! I am very much a wind wimp. Having been spit out of a dust devil just high enough to swoop thru a fence gate and land my tandem safe, the other 2 tandems, one got spit out and landed safe at the far end of the dz, the other ended up with 3 broken ankles in the parking lot. I also had a tandem in turbulence have the left side snap under slamming us in. I took as much of the impact as I could but the student still broke her back. Murphy is alive and well. The worst student I could have had on that landing was her. She lied on the wavier, she had spinal bifida, When I asked why didn't you tell us? She replied that you probably wouldn't have let me jump. So I am often the first of the experienced tandems to stand down. A few years ago in marginal conditions I had that little voice say don't go. I told the dzo on a ten minute call no. Not a well received decision. I was happy no one got hurt but felt completely vindicated when two of the tandems backed up and landed in trees requiring rescue.

Any DI will disagree.

In my 3000 plus tandems I think I only had one completely blind person. He loved it, I agree with all the previous posts. Also let her steer and flair. I felt kinda bad cause it was a windy day and the DZO was berating a fellow TI for not letting his student have the toggles. Saying look ant Van he's jumping a blind guy and letting him flair. Maybe not thinking it thru that it was really safer for me. A blind person is not going to flair early or lock up cause they can't see the ground coming up. One of my most rewarding jumps.

Smart, No. If I'm attacked no mater how much cash I have on me, it's not as valuable as my life. However, the logic is that someone carrying alot of cash or jewels is a far more likely a target. i.e. a jeweler leaving work.

Funny, A few years ago at the Ranch NY. The plan, I open a little high with the girl giving Jimmy the other TM with the guy time to land first, student takes off jumpsuit, has tux on underneath, friends already unrolled huge banner saying "Will You Marry Me?' So now he's waiting, all set with ring and roses, on one knee. We turn final and I say to girl. "Hey look there's a message for you". There's a pause and she says to me "but I hardly know you" I stifle my laugh and say "No look, it's your boyfriend waiting for you" She figured it out, we land, she says yes, happy ending. We sure laughed later.

How about just a class 3 medical EXAMINATION. Much cheaper that the actual medical, and none of the BS. This spring it looks like I am going to have a sleep study. I will eventually, cause I want to fly again but for now I would just want to do Tandems. I say again, why are we requiring a medical when the FAA doesn't for LSA instructors teaching students for hire? Not to mention Hang Glider and Para glider Tandems.
