  1. Bill Cosby was like a father to me when I was growing up. I love everything the man says. "DAD IS GREAT....HE GAVE US CHOCOLATE CAKE!" You know what's similar between Cops and Firefighters? They both wanna be firefighters.

    Skydive The Farm

I wanted to start my Advanced Freefall training but haven't been to many DZ around GA. I have heard a lot of good things about STF but I'm the type that needs to find out for myself and so yeah, everyone was right. It really is an awesome DZ which I will continue to get my jumps from. When I arrived at STF the DZ was Freakin' HUGE. They have two large Swoop ponds, the DZ was well kept, very clean, and did I mention it was huge? The staff was very personable, friendly, and knowledgeable. They really made it seem like the most important thing, other than safety, was that everyone was having fun. Everyone seemed like they wanted to be there, not like they were at work and had to be there. They were very accommodating and when I left I felt like I made some awesome friends. I look forward to returning and continue jumping with them.
  3. I believe, and don't quote me on this, but I believe its okay. Its like doing U-turns on intersections that aren't marked. Can't get in trouble if it doesn't have a sign just like handicap spots without blue parking lines and a blue sign saying handicap only, fine or tow. NO TICKY, NO LAUNDRY!:) But knowing me I'm probably wrong. I do know crossing solid lines isn't legal, at least here. Like if a lane has a solid line with a dotted line, your suppose to cross the dotted line. Also the triangle (I think it is called the Trident?) when you enter onto a highway or off of is really illegal to cross if you cross and hit someone. Then its automatically your fault. Highly recommend not doing that when you impatient. I say legal! You know what's similar between Cops and Firefighters? They both wanna be firefighters.
  4. Yeah, I just wanna say that if there was ever a way I wanted to be pied, that would be the way. I'm not saying....I'm just saying. You know what's similar between Cops and Firefighters? They both wanna be firefighters.

  7. I wanted to apologize, I was misspoke in saying thyroid gland (which is obviously located in the neck) with the lymph nodes. So I do stand corrected. I also was not trying to freak you out by any means. Having cancer, or even the scare of cancer can be scary enough. So if something I wrote freaked you out, I apologize. You know what's similar between Cops and Firefighters? They both wanna be firefighters.

  9. I'm sorry buddy. I've had a couple of scares before but never the real thing. From what I know usually with cancer they take biopsies. Do they do that with testicular? I do know that as a precautionary measure when they do remove the testicle they also remove a lot of the thyroid glands in the abdominopelvic region. I forget how many there are (25 or so?) located in the epithelial tissue of the GI tract. This helps prevent any metastisizing of the cancer. May end up with a nice zipper scar, but chicks dig scars. :) Did the doc confirm cancer? Also, always always always get a second or even third opinion. A different doc may completely contradict the first or even second. Also, if confirmed, what stage? You know what's similar between Cops and Firefighters? They both wanna be firefighters.

  11. I can sorta relate with her. I work career in a pretty dangerous field and I see people who are hurt, sick, and often die and there's a lot of truth behind what your saying Skyhigh. Its a shame we take things in life for granted and we really forget when making a living to really live. It takes something bad to happen to open our eyes. I'll be truthful with you, and for girls reading this here is your "Mascara alert" but today at work some people had an accident. A really bad accident, and if you were watching the news in the Atlanta area you would have heard about it. My station was dispatched to the call and we were first on scene. A father who lived a few blocks away had just dropped his son off at school and was on his way back home when he had a medical problem, crossed the center lane and crashed into another car. Both men were trapped, one of the vehicles caught fire and both men ended up dying. Both men had kids, and one was in the Army Reserves (which my driver is an Army Reservist too). And it just really messes with you when you sit there and you realize this JUST happened and there isn't anything you can do. We pronounced them both dead even though less than 10 minutes ago the father had just kissed his son good-bye. It tears me up inside. Now some kids don't have a dad. Its sad, that something like this ever even has to happen, but it happens every damn day. It constantly reminds me not to take life for granted and tell your friends and family that you love them. And yeah, I've only jumped once for now ( I definitely would jump more had I more time, lol, but I know what you mean). Skydiving is therapy and its good that you channel skydiving as a release and continue on and not stop despite the horrible things that happen in life. We gotta keep moving on. That's just my story for today, sorry its probably pretty depressive. You know what's similar between Cops and Firefighters? They both wanna be firefighters.

I am a Firefighter/EMT for two metro-Atlanta fire departments, one is full time (24 on/48 off) the other is a part time department. I also am in Paramedic school and should finish up April 2009, sigh. You know what's similar between Cops and Firefighters? They both wanna be firefighters.

  14. Dear lord, okay, this may open up a shit storm but here goes, and again as I always say, its just my opinion. For the last ten years I've been following what McCain has been doing. I'm as much of a skeptic as the next and after listening to him time and time again I'm a firm believer he's completely, and much more qualified to run this country more than any other candidate. 1. Yes, he's dang old, but he's got a lifetime of experience in foreign policy as well as extensive understanding of modern domestic happenings. 2. He has, without a doubt, a very honorable military record well beyond any of our last 5 presidents or candidates. 3. The current problem hard-core republicans have with him is because he isn't just that; an extremist. Nothing in life is in either right or wrong, nothing. He supports some things that are republican oriented and some things that are more democratic looking. I think people really underestimate this characteristic because they only hear people calling him a fence runner. In some situations that is a bad thing, especially when they can't make up their mind but he isn't a back and forth swayer. 4. And most importantly, he has been on the Daily Show at least 8 times now if not more (I haven't kept up with exactly the number of times). So this means A. He's got a fucking sense of humor (so he's fucking human and smart to spar with Stewart) and B. John Stewart supports him....I would have been sold on that alone, lol. I'm not trying to convince anyone to vote for him as I've always been a firm believe you should never vote for a presidential candidate (as you should vote against the lesser of two evils), but for the first time in my life, and probably only time, he will be a presidential candidate I do vote for. Hillary Clinton, and this has been said since Bill Clinton took office, that she is power hungry (which doesn't mean she's a good leader). She's had 4 to 6 years in the Senate, no foreign policy experience, and uses cut-throat tactics. She's tried to fast track her way to the presidency and that's something Americans should be cautious about. I do not believe she can effectively run this country, and I wish she could because I think having either of our democratic candidates in office, either woman or black, would be a very large step in the right direction for our nation. But we should never take one step forward for two steps back. Obama will probably win the democratic nomination. He is a better candidate than Hillary and he is very Charismatic and that is what Americans love about him. We are quick to judge a book by its cover. "Change! Wow, that looks like a really friggin good idea. Lets vote for him." Okay, now how? How is he going to change America? What experience does he have? A couple years in the Senate, very little foreign policy experience, and no real concrete presentation on what he's going to do and how he's going to do it. Obama would probably be a good president if he was elected, but we're taking a risk in someone who wants to lead with very little experience actually leading. Imagine I got my AFF Instructor cert after 200 jumps and said "Trust me, I know what I'm doing" would you jump with me? You'll see a lot of uneducated people voting for Obama because they see the Charisma in his speeches and not the lack of direction or experience. I'm not saying people who vote for Obama are stupid, retards, just that they aren't looking at the big picture. Here is a guy who before mid 2007 no one really knew who Obama was, now after spending nearly 200 million dollars, nearly twice that of McCain, he's most likely the democrats front runner. I'm really looking forward to seeing what is to come of this election. This should be interesting. You know what's similar between Cops and Firefighters? They both wanna be firefighters.
  15. 1 in 3 women will be effected by breast cancer. I've always been a big supporter of breast cancer awareness, I usually donate about $200 a year (I know its not much) because we all need to save the TaTas :) A lot of my family and friends have had it and I'm in Paramedic class right now and love this shit. Here is what I know and what I would suggest. Breast cancer is highly treatable. She's obviously been treated for this before and as I don't know all the specifics of your mother's condition it sounds like they got an early jump on it. (If you have a family history of ANY type cancer you need to start getting checked for cancer at or around the age of 35 or sooner. Blood tests to check for your body's cancer fighting cells can be done and your doctor will check your thyroids.) Being able to effectively treat the disease really depends on how early on it is found. Cancer is a very scary disease to have, with the treatments its not only physically draining but emotionally as well. Stay in the positive mind set that everything is being done. I highly recommend getting second and even third opinions. I really can't give any more advice without knowing more about your mom's past medical history and more about her situation and type treatment. I'm probably stating a lot of stuff you may already know but if you don't it can only help. There are different types of breast cancer; In situ and Carcinomas, In situ can be very similar to your skin Carcinomas (malignant and high successful treatments). Your Carcinomas are more likely to not remain in the localized area by entering and traveling through your lymphatic and circulatory system (practically the same thing as your lymphatic moves through your circulatory) which is known as "metastasizing". This is not good as when the cancer is treated in one area and the cancer appears to have subsided it may start growing somewhere else only to come back in a more serious place like the lungs or brain. There is no good news for people who get lung or brain cancer as there isn't a very well know success rate of treatment as these are vital organs. The best advice I can offer is stay positive. I see a lot of people who are successful with treating their cancer by simply having a good an optimistic point of view. Be as supportive as possible with respect to your own well being. If you need to talk or have questions about anything hit me up. I have no problem being honest and I'll be as helpful as I can. I wish you and your mom the best of luck. Sure, you could listen to Spence and go ahead and get it and two weeks or a month or year later when you say to yourself "Ya know what, I really don't like that tattoo" that is when it all starts going down hill. You're not going to like it any more than when you first get it and you'll grow to hate it. Err on the side of caution, especially on spontaneous decisions that last a life time. Its like having unprotected sex with the local club hoe; you only have to f*ck her once before you get herpes...ain't that right Spence To add, Spence, let me edit what I said because I see now there are a lot more tattoos than I first saw. I like most of the ones people posted here except a few, including yours. I don't mean that offensively, I just don't. Obviously other's don't feel the same way I do so don't feel too bad. Besides, as long as your happy with your tat what does it matter what anyone says? You know what's similar between Cops and Firefighters? They both wanna be firefighters.

The artist's name is Mikey Jenkins at Memorial Tattoo in ATL. I had found the design several years ago, but we changed some things. As far as I know I haven't seen another tattoo like it. Mikey did an awesome job, especially the shading. That isn't really a great picture of it but you get the idea. Mikey's rate was $125/hr. I was there for about 2.5 and he only charged me 2. What a nice guy :) That's pretty sweet tattoo you got on your lower back. Where did you find the design? You know what's similar between Cops and Firefighters? They both wanna be firefighters.
  18. You ever notice how humans are like cockroaches and viruses? We go everywhere, consuming everything with an almost blantant disregard for our surroundings. Like a green algae bloom in a pond, we reproduce, over consuming our limited natural resources until there is nothing left, multiplying, until we start dying from starvation. We wonder why Africa is so bad off and it never gets any better despite how much food we throw at them. We feed the fire. I hate saying it but sometimes you gotta open your eyes. And what's with oil companies reporting 60 BILLION DOLLARS profit? Something is SEVERELY wrong here. But in the mean time there is nothing you or anyone else can do about it but complain about rising gas prices and swipe our debt cards at $50+ a pop. I remember when gas was $.69/ GALLON. Just a thought. You know what's similar between Cops and Firefighters? They both wanna be firefighters.

  22. *shakes head Let me put it like this, and if this is something you really wanna do than I suggest you do it, but hear me out... I love Cops. They are wonderful human beings. People, obviously, don't like the police. They sometimes shoot back. Fire doesn't, plus people love us (smart people love cops too, however, there are A LOOOOT of stupid people and not many smart people). As a matter of fact, a complete stranger just bought us breakfast this morning at a local diner. That was a $60 bill, at least. This happens pretty regularly. I work with police and I don't think they get enough credit. A lot of the guys are great individuals and there are some that are complete dicks, and some were always that way and some became that way because of the job. You deal with the scum of society and it no doubt takes a toll on you. I work with a lot of guys who use to be cops and are now on the fire department and say they love it. Some guys go the opposite way for various reasons. I think some people can be cop people and some are fire. My personal opinion, fire is much easier and more exciting, plus, I don't like people thinking I'm a dick. Don't get me wrong in any of this, some cops are my best friends. My little bro has been a MPI for the last few years in the Army and wants to eventually be a cop, my uncle is Jacksonville SWAT, cousins are cops, etc. I think cops are great. They are very useful for tasting stuff on Hazmat spills and make for wonderful blue canaries. They take the whole rap for the donuts thing so I gotta give them some credit, however, my Lazy-Boy at my station does tilt all the way back with the leg rest up, and cops really love how clean our bathrooms are. I'm not so sure about the cop side, but women love firemen. I've had middle age women come in literally handing me their daughter's cell phone numbers...THAT is scary. Oh, two additional words of advice... "Professional Courtesy" :) I'm leaving a LOT out, but if you need any additional information look at the following links. Hope this helps. To add, and this is my personal opinion so take it as you will, these pictures of tattoos people have of ripchords coming out of their skin or skin folded over and pierced for chutes, these really don't look good. I mean the tattoo artist did a very good job, no doubt, but it looks pretty nasty. Then there's the whole having to explain it to everyone because no one knows what it is, including people who are into skydiving. What I'm getting at is why would you get something that isn't aesthetically pleasing to the eye and something you'll have to explain to your grand kids in 40 years. Also, what if in 3 years you decide maybe skydiving really isn't your thing? Like getting a girl's name tattooed on you. Just trying to look out for ya. I say no, and here's the thing. Tattoos are significant for the reason of telling a story and helping us remember where we've been. You've got the right idea, but I'm not sure about the whole "remembering a major injury" is the way to go. The ripchord thing, maybe, but before you get it do this for me; wait 9 months. If in 9 months you still want the tattoo THEN get it. Any major thing you want to do in life, think about it for 9 months and if you still feel as passionate about it, then get it. I have a gaelic shamrock on my right shoulder. I got it for my grandfather who past away 3 years to the day. I waited 3 years and I was just as passionate about it now as I was then. I think its a beautiful tattoo and it holds major significance. If getting the date of your injury is significant enough to you then I say wait and then get it. All tattoos should tell a story, and I don't know anyone who doesn't have a story to tell. If you don't your boring. You know what's similar between Cops and Firefighters? They both wanna be firefighters.
