This is Incorrect!! You Never want to REACH while trying to dock you wil only find yourself everywhere else but docking when reaching.... The tunnel is a great place to learn, expensive but well worth it.... you will progress fast with tunnel coaching, but sometimes you will need to tweak what you learned a hair when it comes to a skydive since your now wearing a parachute on your back.....

After the violent 90 hook to left on every opening i get from my sabre 190 (if im not in line twists after) 1. rears to pop end cells 2. altitude check 3. scan for traffic adjusting with risers if needed 4. pop toggles 5. controllability 6. check 3 rings and risers making sure 100% 7. head toward DZ slider dosent really bother me i just leave it alone, have never loosened chest strap no need every now and then when i pull higher than normal and do all my opening steps, while heading back to the DZ I will look down and practice my EP's look and touch the handles "NOT PULL THEM" I know they may be in a different place in certain mals but in the habbit of looking for them and at them helps to use them when needed.....

Interesting study, Doctors spend alot of time figuring out why our brain tells us to jump from planes, but they need to spend that time on other shit like how to attach Real wings to my body so i dont have to come down.........

$24,000 JUMP TICKET Well guess its in the lead for most expensive DZ imagine a boogie at Everest?

Screw em'. It's YOUR home DZ. It's no reflection on you if they have a negative opinion of a dropzone that they've likely either never been to, or don't understand. Overall, I feel Lodi is a great place to skydive. One thing I'll tell you for sure...I've seen unsafe asshats at USPA dropzones get away with things that Bill won't tolerate for even one jump. Follow the few rules, and you're fine. Were it truly an "unsafe DZ," there would be a lot more craters in the ground around the place, now wouldn't there? GOD DAMN!!!! COULDNT AGREE MORE WITH YOU... Bill does things his way and they seem to work fine why change them with the exception of maybe going around when were far out, its the only problem i have experienced...

funny you say it that way, most skydiving deaths are human error with the ocasionall few heartattacks and unkowns this dz DOESENT feel UNSAFE to me i love this dz i can drive to byron in 40 mins instead of 1:45mins to lodi, but choose not to since i like that there arent many rules, i can jump with my friends who are still students not to many places you can do that, plus i get 5 jumps a day on the weekends minimum for $13 not complaining here, but there should be some kind of go around procedure to make it safer for the less experienced (if my laddy would have been on that jump with me, shes only has 35 jumps and landing skills not the best things could have been very bad for her only reason why i started this post in the first place...)

Should people be banned for doing hookturns in certain places?
DON321 replied to CrazyL's topic in Safety and Training
"CRAZYL" Man let it go about the hookturns your in every post ranting about how its not fair, dude!!! if you dont like the rules open your own dz and make your own rules it seems like half the skydiving fatalitys are all low turn realted some way or another seems like we found a slight way to minimize the fatality rate "NO LOW TURNS" sounds fair to me i dont hookturn so i really dont worry about it, if its your cup of tea and you dont get me killed while your doing it im cool with it, if your hurt or kill yourself...well that was your choice, i think your missing the point of what everyone is saying here... kill yourself doing stupid things not others in the process this may be the reason you have been banned so many times.... dont get me wrong i dont want to see anyone hurt or killed enjoying this sport but skydiving is a safe as we make it..... -
im far from experienced in 101 jumps but i do feel im getting better with each jump, fuel being the extra cost was the answer i got about not going around, you do get what you pay for $13 jumps to 13k out of a twin otter or king air im not going to complain or make a big deal about, I have the best instructor in the world who i look up to and respect has taught me well and answered every question with much detail. ive heard many times my dz is a place where you have to be more carefull and i am, this is why i made this post.. i read about all the mistakes so i dont repate them......

we never asked for a go around because we knew we wouldnt get one from previouse experience (not me personally but fellow jumpers on same load)in 101 jumps ive never heard of or seen a go around where i jump at as well.....(not saying its never been done its just never been talked about in my 101 jumps) i did talk to the pilot though after getting back to the dz and asked him if he would have went around and he said "no!! good thing you didnt ask" i have been on jump runs were im last out and were getting far out and the pilot will start to make a slight 90 degree turn so were not so far out.. id rather not drop the dz name since its not completely there fault I could have stayed in the plane and rode back down but it didnt look like we were that far out when spotting...guess my personal spoting needs more work when were at the back end of the spot..... i did get a call from my instructor the next day asking what happened and i explained but i never got to asking what i should have done differently I told him i made the choice to land behind in a for sure field and walk back instead of trying to make it over the vineyards and see what happens.....

Went to the DZ on Saturday and had one of the best days yet, 6 jumps back to back and made my 100th (friends and instructor made it verry memorable "thanks") anyways on the last load of the day me and a buddy decided to do a 2 way it was a FULL load in one of our twin otters... me and my buddy were doing a little freefly sit coaching and were going to be last out since the majority of the load was all belly... we were all getting a little worried about being far out since all the others just took forever in the door (i dont yell and rush people out the door I hate when i get rushed) our turn came, we set up in the door and exited only to find our selves in a sit way passed the spot.. I pointed down and out at the dz to my buddy and signaled to pull he nodded "yes" and we broke off and tracked just enough to seperate and pulled around 5 grand (jumping from 13k) were i jump the dz is surrounded by wine vinyards and its not really an option to land out unless you have to. I knew I wasent going to make it back and wasent going to try and fly over the vinyards low to get closer and not walk so far back so i picked a huge field off to the north, turned and headed for it, 360 over the top to find wind direction and search for obsticals and power lines, turned final and landed perfectly, my buddy was right behind me on landing as well.... we walked about half way back before being picked up almost 1.2 miles out from the dz. about 5 otheres landed out as well.. i probably shouldnt have jumped after seeing how far off the spot we were. but I was a bit angry the pilot wouldnt go around (they never go around) I could have pulled right out of the plane and just flew back the the dz but didnt want to switch up the jump plan last minute things could have been worse if we landed in the wine vinyards so whats the correct way to address a situation like this? Dont jump if the pilot wont go around? or leave and pull higher?..... I wasent worried about landing out (done it a million times in my paraglider going cross country) just dont want to make the same mistake again..... sorry for the novel any info would be great

find a wind tunnel in your area (hopefully theres one around close) its not cheap but you will learn from each session with some coaching, theres alot of things you can try in a tunnel and not have to worry about the ground rushing up or floating into somebody elses formation.

a few pounds heavier, can i still jump ?
DON321 replied to hyder124's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
theres a few people at my dz that are bigger than that and they have been jumping, just need a bigger rig and a suit with "more drag" if you want to jump with other people down the road...... im 6'2" and 210lbs and have only had the problem of not being able to find used gear, its all had to be new and custom but that dosent stop me..... -
Skydiving vs. life priorities
DON321 replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
QuoteFor some of us, skydiving IS a life priority. reply] ...If I might add SKYDIVING IS A "LIFESTYLE" Theres no way I could give it up... skydiving vs everyday life is a tough question, but skydiving usually seems to win if I PAY CASH FOR IT ALL..... buy some decent gear and a block of tickets and bite the bullet now. Then you can make jump after jump and not have to worry about cost of each jump, I think you can learn better this way... -
How much does your DZ charge for Hop and Pops?
DON321 replied to Skyvixen's topic in General Skydiving Discussions

How many jumps before using a camera?
DON321 replied to DON321's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
thanks for all the replys, sounds like i should wait a while longer.... to many cons not enough pros to wear a camera at this early stage of jumping.... -
Sport and a job 9 to 5 - is it possible?
DON321 replied to bsrodeo540's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Im in a field where i dont have set hours i work everyday (demolition ) but i can be 8 to 18 hour days never really know but I make it to the drop zone every weekend and the days im off or off early (its an hour and a half drive) if you want to skydive youll find a way to skydive ive been skydiving only 6 months and have already made 91 jumps pretty happy with that so yes it can be done........ -
How many jumps before using a camera?
DON321 replied to DON321's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
how many jumps should you have before you start to wear a camera helmet? dont want to rush into it but would like to start getting some jump footage -
This is what I was told by my rigger to do with a new rig (or newly aquired rig) be the last guy out of the plane and pull high (around 6 or 7 grand) play with the canopy find the flare and stall points, just go back to the basics for a few jumps until you get comfortable with the rig..... even if you have jumped the same canopy before...

Thanks for all the replies, im still a newb, but i feel the more i read and learn about this sport the less danger i create to others or myself, if im not sure i ask even if its a stupid question.... thanks.....

Yeah, I totally agree, Folow direction from PIC, but I guess id rather know what to do to be ready than to wait and figure it out while its happening

im still pretty new to this sport only with 38 jumps, but often find myself wondering on my way up to altitude, what would i do if the plane had a problem... i was taught by my instructor (Ed Pawlowski, who happens to be an awsome teacher who never really stops teaching you even after signing you off to jump unsupervised.) durring my AFF training to follow his instruction durring an emergency pull reserve if low and pull main if your high, but what about other variables? im an aircraft pilot as well (still have low hours but i fell like i know what im doing up there) somebody hits the tail on exit? do you exit still to get out of the plane that has a slight problem? plane stalls? your at the back (last to exit) what do you do? plane loses an engine or engines? do you jump out still to help get rid of some weight so pilot can hopefully make it back to airport on glide? im sure you would look toward the pilot in command to make the choice but he may be busy trying to fly the plane in an emergency,i guess i should probably ask my instructor these questions, He explained alot about aircraft emergencys, but i guess the few question i have left i just need knowledge on.. has anyone had any of these situations??
