  1. Thanks folks! And yes, there is a search feature. I feel silly now. x.x; My apologies!
  2. Hey all! I've never sky dived, I don't have the money to do it, but I'm attempting to write about it. So! I have a couple of questions. 1) When do you put the backpacks on? On the ground, in the air, right before you jump out of the airplane, when? 2) Do instructors check equipment right before you jump, on the ground, in the airplane, where? 3) Would a brand new student doing an assisted jump be more likely to jump out first with the two instructors or last? Or middle? 4) Are there hand signals you use in the air to communicate with each other, like between instructors and their students, like with scuba diving or not so much? 5)Do most instructors do this for a living, or do they have other day jobs when they're not jumping? Thanks, guys! Really appreciate the input.
  3. ...messaging me about certain sky diving accidents? I'm working on a fantasy novel that involves a sky diving accident, and as I have no money, I'd feel slightly awkward calling up a sky diving school and asking for an interview. I read the four forum rules and don't feel like this query is breaking any, however I mean no disrespect if something of this nature is not acceptable to you all. Being knew, I'm not sure about all the tones of this community. If someone would not mind chatting with me over AIM or YIM, that would be fantastic. Let me know here, and if questions of this nature are acceptable, then I'm more than happy to ask them here.. I just don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. ---EDIT-- Oh, and another question I have: Can you wear clothes beneath your skydiving outfits, or do people generally go underwear only? Out of curiosity. I know, I'm strange. Also, can you rent equipment if you're a broke college student for a fraction of the price? Like if you're just doing one dive, to try something new, and not necessarily wanting to get certified?
  4. Yes, it would eventually be for publication(if I'm really that talented, that is, heehee). I'm not entirely sure how it would happen, to be perfectly honest. It's for a fantasy novel I'm writing about involving a series of highly impossible events leading up to the parachute strings breaking. Is this something that would not fly well with these forums? If that's something that'll make people uncomfortable, if there is anyone experienced who would be willing to chat with me in regard to this in private, I would be very appreciative. I hope I have no offended anyone with this query. It would be very, very awesome to experience the benefits of those who are experienced.
  5. Hi! I'm Sarah. I joined this forum because, well, obviously I'm interested in sky diving! I'm also working on a written piece involving a sky-diving accident.. so if anyone knowledgeable would be able to chat with me about this subject, I would be incredibly appreciative! Well, that was brief, but I suppose that works. Other than that, Hi!
