I have a Gargoyle with a 245 Fox in it. I was wondering about putting a 280 Mojo in it. I know the Fox packs bigger and a 260 Mojo would be ok, but I think the 280 could be pushing it. It was fitted for a 245-260 it says. Thanks.

Anyone going to the boogie and planning on hitting up any local sites? Is there anything you can pop off in the morning and do some skydiving during the day? I was thinking of a particular high cliff but I've never been and won't have a rental car :)

D-bag = black death. Prone to off headings and how would YOU like bag lock at 200 ft? That's why most hard core crew dogs use tailpockets like we do.

While my girlfriend is seemingly very interested in BASE. I have spent a good deal of time talking her out of it. I also have spent hours on end explaining this phenomena. I told her to be wary of me and especially any others willing to take her on a jump. We've agreed that if she decides to get into it she is going to skydive the hell out of her first BASE canopy followed by a 1st jump course and a lengthy stay at the Perrine. I definitly think this isn't a joke. I've heard of girls with 60 skydives being taken on BASE jumps by less than qualified people. Not cool at all... If you are guilty of above offense you should definitly question your motive for participating in BASE. Looking cool isn't worth the death of another.

Why not have a fast/slow contest? Take the difference of your fastest and slowest speeds on the same dive. We did that once. It can be fun.

And to further break down the classification. There are Muslim extremists who are non-violent. One in Egypt springs to mind just prints newspapers. Wonder why we never hear of them on the news???

Anyone else doing the same and planning on taking the Shuttle and want to split costs. Anyone have any other travel plans that could give two people a ride there?

I am about 190 lbs and 6'. I can get down to 85 mph avg without these pants in a freefly suit and 95 in tshirt/shorts. Dwayne is quite small if I remember correctly. I am very eager to try these pants and see if they are all cracked up to be as they say. I'd love to demo a pair of pants. I'll likely go down to Deland just to try them out whenever they get a demo. If I can get under 80 easily I'll likely get them and another ticket to Norway :) I talked to Birdman today and they said the BASE pants just won't be good for back tracking, and they will not impede headdown or sit.

Static line from 177 ft on a BASE jump. 400 ft @ terminal on a BASE jump. 1100 on a skydive under reserve after a total. *Disclaimer* Being at terminal under 2000 ft is a deadly deadly game. Please never ever do this even if its witht he proper equipment that yields consistent opening times. Unless you very bad with altitude awareness and your other option is no pulling at all.

Are there really any malfunctions that could happen with a single parachute rig that can't be corrected to the point you'd need to pull your reserve? Aside from the freaky one at that bridge out west? Lineover ->hookknife, 180 -> rear risers, 180 with linetwists -> hope you can get to the lines above the twists.

On quite a few sites I exit at multiple altitudes. A range finder is great for that. I can stow it on my chest strap when need be. Depending on who you are jumping with 700 ft climb may be the norm and others it may be 350 ft :) In my bag: Breakcord just in case, small flash light, compass (for guy wire directions), caribeener (sp?), radios.

Other things determine freefall delay as well. Winds and distance to the landing area are also things to consider. On a 600 ft object you may can only take 1 second slider off where as on another similar object a 4 - 5 second slider on could be appropriate.

I was retarded and jumped an A from 280 ft by PCA into a average landing area on my first. I did have my own gear though and read the BASE board for a year and half and pestered all the locals for information when I could. I practiced all the BASE drills I could on skydives for 200 jumps and put a few jumps on my Raven that I started on. That only lasted 7 jumps until I got a Fox. Be careful out there though.

That's what I've been factoring in. Good job obviously. And I think you could get out with like $12 a jump. If you hand any DZ that much cash at the start of the year they'll have to give you a killer discount.

Max Cohn's post made me think of something. How on Earth does one achieve 1000 jumps a year (not doing tandems or other paying skydiving stuff)? Is it paid by yourself or what? I am trying to come up with a method to do this (that's why i'm still in school). Don't know how feasible it will be. So far Job + no rent seems like it will work.

Seems I will be graduating in May after 5 years. It will be a BS in Philosophy and a minor in Computer Science with a a head start on graduate work if I choose to do that (in computer science). Will probably graduate with 180 or so BASE jumps and over 800 skydives. WOO HOO the important things in life
