I jumped in the upstate New york region all summer to January. They jump year long in Rochester, and they're not a bad group of people to jump with (http://www.rochesterskydivers.com/). The fingerlakes will run loads if enough jumpers get together. The porter is not there for the winter months though, so you're jumping out of a cessna. Call the DZ (1-800-SKYDIVE) to see if they plan on running loads. Again these too are great people to jump with as well. Welcome to NY, the jump season runs from April to November for most DZ's. My advise is to suck it up, go to Rochester, and jump in the cold weather. It's not bad, though I do wear a full-face helmet, so that probably makes all the difference.
