  1. Thanks for the input and the pics Drew Daffy - dont you find that initiates a harness turn? Two feet together - here I wonder if its to have your feet in front of you, or behind you. My thoughts are now that having your feet behind you is better from the perspective if shit goes wrong and for whatever reason you find yourself hitting the earth earlier/harder then planned - then having your feet behind you would mean that your feet would hit, and with your forward movement, knees, etc would follow - plf. Thoughts?
  2. I've seen different variations of how people land, specifcally talking about the postion of legs. Some people keep both feet together and behind them, others both feet together and in front, some have 1 leg in front of the other (I tried this on a couple occasions but found that that would initiate a slight harness turn resulting in me having to compensate with the opposite toggle when flaring). The way I currently fly and land is by "sitting" in the harness i.e. knee's up and feet in front of me. My question is what do you think is the best position and why? Stay safe!
  3. Why would a vigil need a service as often as the Cypres in Sweden?
  4. New plane not flying yet, still working on roll-up door - should be flying soon though. See you Christmas time!
  5. hey Jester Yes, thanks alot. I'm doing more WS jumps now and its going well - working on reducing fall rate and just having fun with the suit. Currently borrowing Blake's (one of the staff at SCT) Classic - fortunately for me we're about the same size! Hope all's well your side Shot
  6. Hello I'm a new wingsuiter and currently flying an old Birdman Classic. I'm 1.7m tall and weigh about 72kg. What vertical speed should I be working towards or averaging? Thanks
  7. Hello all Myself and three others are going to the Freezone wind tunnel (12.5ft one) in Russia in a couple months. Anyone got info/suggestions on accomodation there - close to the tunnel? Most appreciative of any info Blue ones Ria
  8. I like your thinking - the 6 pack index! Ok, so for me 1 jump to 11,000ft is just over 7 six packs of beer All this talk of beer is making me thirsty

  11. Duct tape is overboard, rather use rubber bands/bungees
  12. Wondering what jump prices are like around the world and if they're climbing along with the oil price? At the begining of 2007 we were paying R150 (about US$20) to 9000ft , as of this weekend it goes up to R220 (about US$30) to 9000ft. What's it like elsewhere? Blue ones
  13. My VISO's been acting up this last weekend. Anybody else experienced similar problems? I'm gonna do a hard reset and give it another check this weekend, if that doesnt work will send back to L&B - their service is great so I'm not concerned. 1. Saturday – jump 1 – turn on VISO, it calibrates – goes to zero, then a few minutes later reads I think 400ft (still on the ground, nowhere near plane). So I turn it off and back on again, resets to zero. In the plane whilst taking off (still on the ground) it reads 70ft – I know this could be caused by pressure changes due to prop blast, but thought it odd as this had never happened before, if anything on previous jumps it under-read for the first 200 or 300ft and then would start to read as normal. I continued to check the VISO readings against other alti’s in the plane it seemed to be under-reading (by about 1000ft if I recall correctly). I then exited and jumped, upon deployment the alti read 4000ft and stay there until I landed. Even whilst on the ground it still read 4000ft for about another 10 minutes – when I started pressing buttons, the alti the started to reduce in altitude back to zero (sometimes fluctuating on its way down to zero). I then turned off and back on again – it showed zero. 2. Saturday – jump 2 – alti still on zero, got into plane, it stayed on zero the whole way up! 3. Forgot to turn it off, it normally turns off automatically when not is use 4. Sunday – alti still on (this approximately 17hrs since last used), battery now showing one bar (it was on two bars on Saturday). Walk to the plane, reading fluctuating all over the place from minus numbers to +700 ft whilst still on the ground! Needless to say, I used another altimeter for the jump
  14. Is it possible to change the time setting on DZ.com to suit your time zone? Blue ones
  15. Thanks to all for the info/knowledge shared!
  16. Hi all I've gat Talon2 harness with for a PD160R and a PD170 main - all original system so I assume the container is sized for that combo. I'm going down to a Pilot 150. Do I need to change the D bag? I cant seem to find anything on D bag sizing on Aerodyne's website? Blue ones
  17. Cheap yes. Wingsuit main - that's the reason I want a square - want to start wingsuiting next year. Got a discount voucher from parachutesystems and want to change my main - currently got an old PD170 F111 main - its like a bus in th sky!
  18. Considering getting one and wondering if anyone has anything to say about the zp.exe's from parachutesystems? I've read the old stuff on dz.com as well as the review section. Anything more? Thanks in advance
  19. THanks all! Feedback has been great and certainly given much food for thought. I will ask around about demos and if possible borrowing a 170 zp type canopy. And if I do end up buying one, a good point is that it wouldn't be hard to sell. As to taking a canopy course, I'll definitely ask around. After all, the canopy ride is the longest part of the jump - might as well make the most of it! Blue skies
  20. Anyone know if demoing canopies is something that can be done in South Africa?
