Badfish U.S. Pond Swooping - Dirt- Water- Dirt video

Chris, nice vid! Anyone using that Russian jumpplane? Buck -
Maybe I'm a little rusty on the jump flying biz, but isn't a safety briefing a "current" requirement per FAA regulation 91.107??? "Use of safety belts, shoulder harnesses, and child restraint systems." (a) Unless otherwise authorized by the Administrator— (1) No pilot may take off a U.S.-registered civil aircraft (except a free balloon that incorporates a basket or gondola, or an airship type certificated before November 2, 1987) unless the pilot in command of that aircraft ensures that each person on board is briefed on how to fasten and unfasten that person's safety belt and, if installed, shoulder harness. *** When I flew jumpers, I would "usually" provide the requisite safety brief concerning belts, no smoking..etc...etc....... Like everyone else is saying......maybe get out more. You will find who your looking for..... BTW, just because someone golfs, shouldn't be an exclusionary factor in your decision making..... There's a ton of jumpers that play golf!!!! And the ones that do? Have money....!! Buck

Attn Texas Jump Pilots (TFR's in Texas this weekend)
Beerlight replied to Beerlight's topic in The Bonfire
Granbury is fairly far north of the TFR. But just to check, if your airport/DZ identifier is one of these, you are NOT affected? - GDJ - 0TX0 - TS89 - 0TX1 - 8TA7 -
HaHa! You biotch , I was getting ready to lay out SOME CASH!

Pulled this off Avweb: If you're working on your instrument rating or you need an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC), your world is about to change, and not entirely for the better, according to at least one training expert. The FAA has revised its instrument rating practical test standards. The 48 pages of new rules go into effect on Oct. 1, and one clause in particular will have widespread consequences, Richard Kaplan, a principal and instructor at Flight Level Aviation, told AVweb. He said the new rules require that a circling approach be demonstrated during the IPC. Not only does the requirement send the wrong message to pilots (that circling approaches are SOP) and decrease flexibility (the ability to adapt training to address the pilot's weaknesses), Kaplan claims, it will also increase costs to trainers, and, ultimately, pilots. Kaplan said the vast majority of IPCs are done on simulators and, more recently, on a sophisticated but relatively inexpensive PC-based system called an Advanced ATD. Under current rules, the PC system is approved for the entire IPC but the systems are not approved to check circling approaches. Also, said Kaplan, many of the hugely expensive simulators that a lot of schools use will no longer be approved for IPCs because they lack the wrap-around view needed for circling approaches. The wrap-around screens cost tens of thousands of dollars. The new rule might mean that parts of the IPC will have to be done in actual airplanes. Kaplan said the new rules also lay out the specific tasks to be demonstrated in the tests and checks and that inhibits the instructor's ability to individualize the check and turn it into a learning experience. "The FAA has removed the CFII's discretion and turned the IPC into just another hurdle to overcome," he said.

FAA TO ESTABLISH TFRs (Temporary Flight Restrictions) OVER BUSH RANCH, HOUSTON THIS WEEKEND The FAA is expected to issue a notam that will expand Prohibited Area P-49 beginning Friday, June 11, for President Bush's visit to his ranch. He is also slated to make a side trip to Houston Saturday evening. Based on best information at this time, along with notams that have already been issued, the president will arrive in Waco at 2:50 p.m. local on Friday and stay at the ranch in Crawford. The president is scheduled to head to Waco again at 5:30 p.m. local on Saturday for his trip to Houston. He arrives back in Waco at 11 p.m. local that same night. He is scheduled to stay at the Crawford ranch until approximately 10 a.m. local on Sunday, June 13. -
It's amazing how quickly the pack can turn, isn't it? Don't worry about it mate.......

Nope. No history either. I've read about that briefly, don't you have to drink something like 4-5 gallons of water in an hour for that to happen though? No. It's less than you think. Here's an excerpt I pulled from our regulations regarding prevention of heat stress disorders. Of course, there are variances from one person to another. And personally, I thought these consumption values were on the low side.....hmmph http://www.rpi.edu/dept/afrotc/www/docs/PT/aetci48-101.pdf * Hourly fluid intake should not exceed 1 1/2 quarts; daily fluid intake should not exceed 12 quarts. Rapid ingestion of large amounts of water (greater than 1 1/2 quarts per hour) may lead to hyponatremia (acute water intoxication), which is a life-threatening condition that may lead to weakness, convulsions, loss of consciousness, and death if not recognized and treated promptly.
-
Dave, As was explained to me throughout my military career. The mantra is "Pee often and Pee clear"... On the flipside, watch out for "Hyponatremia" or overhydration.. Several military troops have died within the last couple years from consuming too much water in to short a time!......We actually put limits on total hourly water intake. And, you aren't a diabetic are you? Any family history? Buck

Serve it up with some baked beans and TATER SALAD!

As far as I can tell, no one "forced" him to leave the sport. After all, he only got a one week grounding. Some people decide it's easier to quit rather than admit that they may have made some mistakes. Agree, no one is forcing him...that we know of..... It's all perception, HIS perception....on how things are evolving. Both "maybe" here in dot.com world and possibly @ his home DZ. cheers, Buck

First of all, some of you that are posting harshly at TT need to back the fuck off, and take a long hard look at yourselves before slamming the door in the boyz face.. Don't let my 6 jump number fool you, I've been in/around this sport since 1986 and seen a ton a shit and a ton of people doing stupid shit and eventually changing to be safe jumpers. Don't shit on the young mans parade....Change in a person does happen, although it might take more time for some people... Now if TT was being dangerous to others around him, then fine, dump on him the right amount, show him his errors, but don't force him to leave the sport! I've done some stupid shit in my younger days, should have died on a couple occasions, but luckily and thankfully, I had "friends" finally get it in my face, and made me see the error of my ways. Now that I'm over 40, my feelings of self preservation kick in just about everytime I see something unsafe. Funny how growing up and growing older can have that affect... So TT, don't give up something you love. Do listen to those around you that care, those around you with experience, and those around you that probably made the mistakes, realized said mistakes, and adjusted to them and became safe jumpers.... To you without sin, cast the first stone.... Yep, I didn't see anybody throwing........ Buck

I need a answer to this question that has been bugging me.
Beerlight replied to cvfd1399's topic in The Bonfire
You just keep on thinking, and don't ever worry about what someone thinks of your ideas. We need people in this world with imagination and the willingness to expand the envelope. I'm not a very "inventive" type person and I'm glad we have people on this earth that actually "think" versus just coming up with non-sense one liner bullshit, like "You should get out of this sport"...... Good one on you....! Buck -
There ya go Jack! I'm in........ Buck

Black rig + dark background, a biotch to see!! Like da monkey.......

Chris, I come to you, cause I know you've got the answer... What would a typical Otter go-around cost? Figuring time/Fuel burn/engine wear...etc. Also, dialing in that you have a load waiting on the ground, ready to go.... I would guess that if enough go-arounds occur in a year at a very busy DZ, it could definitely eat into the DZO's bottomline...... maybe... Enough of those, and jump ticket price increase? Buck

HaHa!! Yep, not a bad gig.........Watch, that'll probably be the only raise I get for the next 6 years!
