Blahr, the Mardi Gras boogie is going on in Moss Point MS, if ya can travel. It started today and will last thru next weekend. you could easily get your jumps in there. Supposed to be great weather too. I'd be there but I got busted landing gear. hurry..leave now. craig -

I heard that benny -
sarah, 200 meters is cool too..also i read Dave's post you have a good instructor that went with ya..cool but still you pulled high and that is a little diff..you made it back and that is good enough..like I said accuracy takes practice
-
Sarah, 20 M from tgt is excellent at your level..enjoy the ride, accuracy will come on its own

Monkey, It can be difficult..if Ya clicked on the pick I posted..we almost got lost on that one. the clouds rolled in afer we exited..we got lucky in that there were enough holes to spot..but this is a good + with a high pull also..you should learn to spot your DZ based upon the surrounding area. a high pull allows you max time at altitude to do this. Whenever I jump a new DZ I do a high pull as early as I can..I "spot" the DZ..get a good pic from alt, and explore all the outs with the birds eye veiw. this allows me to know where I am in bad situations and to navigate based on features I can see

Stuck near Eloy with nothing to do?
orbitjunkie replied to fred's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Fred.. go out there and jump, chances are there is a skydiver looking for you..I have jumped @ eloy and they are a really cool DZ..go to manifest, tell them you story and I will bet they hook you up ask for Becky and I bet you will find a friend. Kudos to skydive AZ Craig -
Actually spoting is not a big issue unless you jump in extreme wind conditions. You can really move while running and as long as you can hold well you are ok..just approach this as you would any other skydiving skill and work your way up. Dont try too much too fast
-
Benny, Absolutely not a bad Idea..look at Milgore's post it is a great time to wear yous canopy out and really see what it will do. For Example some canopies you can turn so hard you can induce line twists. You need to know this about your canopy..also how deep can you go in brakes without collapsing, and how long can you stay there. set yourself a reasonable hard deck, based on where you feel comfortable, at which point you will stop pushing the canopy. you can learn so much about the canopy it will shock you. Just remember a canopy flies faster at higher altitudes. some of the best canopy pilots do this..just remember to use good judgment and don't go to fast..learn in steps. Don't just get out..pull and try to break the thing

two rubber bands on the chest strap works just fine..LOL

Hey man, I do high hops and pops all the time..way cool Most people wonder why you would want to do that but i love it. so quiet and crisp. Great for X country dives ( jumps) and very relaxing too. Try it with a buddy and a Disposable Camera. add Walkie Talkies and they are a blast. Glad there is a fellow Enthuisast

Probability Risk of Skydiving vs. Driving a Car
orbitjunkie replied to Hazarrd's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Interesting...but consider you drive 15,000 miles a year so thats even if ya make 60 or so jumps a year..you make 100 jumps your upping the odds to almostdouble your chances of getting whacked in a car -
Best way to get RW experience?
orbitjunkie replied to Casquito's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey Man I have never been to Perris that I had trouble finding an organizer except on some of the slack days. go to Manifest and ask. they will be more than happy to link you up with organizers. Do you mostly go on the weekdays? that might be part of it. also during boogies and events you can find them there every day. for example during the holiday boogie "lemonhead" is there just about every day. Don't be afraid to go up to people and ask. Chances are at least even that they'll jump with ya..I would craig -
Hey man, What day were you on the high alt lift..the 4th? I was on that load

Beth, Whatever is a pusedo techie?.. Ha ha well welcome to the wonderful world of skydiving. I know that now you are waiting for spring and warm weather but soon you will own several layers of airworthy clothing and a heavy duty face mask. Thank you for the compliment to us all and I believe you will find, as I have, that skydivers are some of the best people you will ever meet. I think it has something to do with the fact that we all tend to be very optimistic people who leave their hang-ups behind in search of the freedom that only the air can give us. See you in the Skies

My bad I talked to aubry just 3 weeks ago and thought he was buying his first..Guess I owe him Beer!
-
Hey Aubry, Good deal man..when last we talked at Perris you said you were checking into one; I guess you found it. and yes it is his first rig gang so BEER! Looking forward to seeing you at Gold Coast. I will not be there for the boogie I got busted landing gear. Craig.

Everybody freezes now and then..if you meet 1 skydiver who says they are never afraid they are not in touch with either "A" the truth or "B" reality. try to differienciate and stay away from "B"

courtesy for your packer
orbitjunkie replied to PackerBarry's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I kinda see both sides on this, I do about 50 pack jobs and pay packers the other..generally when @ the home DZ I let our packers handle it. when abroad I usually di it myself. @ my home DZ I always tip an extra buck, they (Dave and Dee) are well worth it, after all your gonna jump this thing; However, they need to earn it to. stowing the brakes is cool and maybe unstowing the slider. so let us be curtious but not do it all.
