Bad Exits You Tube Airborne
XXXFloydXXX replied to efs4ever's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I had a few bad exits out the door of 130s. Always happened when I wasnt #1 jumper. Fixed that problem by always going out first. Bounced off the skid of a Huey one time too. I saw a video when I was at Rigger school of a LAPES drop gone wrong with the C-130 actually burning in from coming in too hot -
Just got off the phone with Sky. Been a long time but felt good to talk to him for a few minutes. He was on his way to breakfast then probably to the DZ so we didnt have much time to chat. Looks like we are going to meet up for a jump when he heads back north. Thanks again to yall who helped me get into contact with an old friend who was a good influence on me in my younger and wilder paratrooper days.

You want to grow up? There's a video on the video page of Sky et al at ZHills skydiving. Search for Elvis. Saw the video Thanks for posting it. Pretty cool to watch

Nah, he's just busy fighting off all the ladies after his hot hunk of man flesh.

I may well end up making the trek to Hinckley. I've got a few months to start putting everything together Thanks

He's probably off setting a geriatrics' big-way world record somewhere. Wouldnt surprise me in the least. Its good to read that he's gotten back into the sport and is staying active. I remember him showing me his scrapbook and some of the crazy stuff that had happened. Hanging from some high tension lines comes to mind. After they closed our 2nd Army reserve unit I lost touch with him and really regret it. Thanks for helping me to get back in touch with him.

I emailed him at the email address I was given but havent heard back from him yet. If anyone sees the little old guy can you tell him I said hello and when he gets back north to let me know. I am looking to get back into jumping and lord knows he's put me out the door enough times I'd like to give him another shot at it. Those of you that know Sky may have also known my other CW4 Ric Olchivik (misspelled?). I didnt serve with him as long but he was a good guy. I was at his memorial service on crutches from breaking my hip in a car accident.

I thought I had more pics but cant seem to find them. these are from the 1990-1991 time frame. A couple are from when we used to jump at the Gary,In airport and I think one is from a jump we did in Indy. One of the pics is damaged so dont mistake it for some type of growth

Give me a few days to get them scanned. Yoda comes to mind Wonder if he still has the pack lane in his basement?

Thanks for the info kallend He is in the Chicago area last I knew. He was probably jumping when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Honestly though he has got to be one of the best people I have ever had the privilege to meet. I've got some pretty good pics from way back in the day too.

Thanks for the welcome Not sure if there is a tunnel anywhere near me. I'm near South Bend, IN about 90 minutes from Chicago. I've been looking around and it appears the place where i did my first jump is no longer around. It was in Gobles,MI. Goshen,In looks to be the next closest DZ to me or I think there is one in Plainwell,MI. If I can get a hold of Chief Huminsky I will see what he recommends.
