I enjoy listening to music, and this show, showcases some very good singers! Granted, I don't like how the show 'works', but it does give these singers an opportunity to sing and be seen! This season has some outstanding performers. J -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings.

I am and there is some amazing talent this time. My favorites? Bo, Carrie, Nadia, Constantine, and Mikayla because of her 'attitude'. Geez, they are all really good, it is hard to choose J -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings.

Is it in the gardens or lawn area? I've heard that if you keep the lawn well fertilized and use an insecticide in the lawn area, they won't tunnel through the lawn area because there aren't any 'grubs' there. They still will tunnel through the gardens though. Or.....just wait until they leave and go to the neighbors yard! I've taught a few signs to my grandson. That way from across the room or at the table, I can tell him to "eat" without anyone hearing it! I've also taught him other signs as well. We also taught our dog sign language for sit, stay, come, etc. They pick up really fast! J -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings.

I don't mean to offend anyone or judge anyone's parenting, all I said was I would be a little concerned. I would not try to judge nor would I want to be judged. As a parent, I realize that if we tell our children NOT to do something, you can bet they will

actually arn't you just sore because you could of used bubble wrap for your ass??? hehehe..... actually no, this thing resebbles a "pop corn popper" and the kid pushes it arond and the balls "pop" into the clear plastic dome..... makes alot of noise wichis the point....... Hey, I like those things! Hehe, actually I bought my grandson one, but it only plays music when pushed/rolled around! I didn't get the 'popping' one because it would have terrified my dog! Do any PARENTS see a problem with this? Maybe instead of making "granny" jokes, one of this child's parents ought to be expressing a little concern for her welfare and her future. But maybe that should have happened a while back when she started seriously dating at 14?? I'm a parent, and yes, I see a problem with this. I would have been a little concerned over such a serious relationship throughout the last 2 yrs. It's a scary thought that a 16 yr. old is already planning in the near future, when she is going to have a baby. Yep, I've done that before. Push the cork into the bottle, and drink the wine with little pieces of the cork in it! Now, I have one of those new-type corkscrews with the handle, all you do is open the handle, put the opener over the bottle top, bring the handle back over, and it pulls the cork right out. No twisting, nothing. Then just reverse the motion and it gives you the cork! I love it! I have tried many types of wine openers, this is by far the easiest! I agree, you might as well fulfill your dreams, if possible. You only live once, you might as well enjoy life. I say, good for him! It should be recognized for the Guiness record, he jumped, he landed, he made it!!!! J -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings.

Didn't go as planned, but he did it! Anyone see this story? J Seattle skydiver, 96, recovering after try at record hits turbulence BREMERTON — A 96-year-old man aiming to become the oldest person to make a solo skydive had a rough landing near Bremerton and suffered a dislocated shoulder, but otherwise emerged unscathed. Milburn Hart of Seattle jumped out of a plane Friday afternoon near the Bremerton airport. "He said his arm hurt on the way out the door, so he had a little problem turning," said Dina Fodd of Blue Skies Skydiving Adventures. Hart, who lives in North Seattle, prepared for the jump with five hours of training and a written test Friday. He'd made two jumps in tandem with an experienced jumper last year. His entourage included six friends from his retirement center and, from Elma, Grays Harbor County, daughter Diane Hamilton, her husband, Dave, and their daughter, who angrily refused to watch her grandfather's risky venture. Blue Skies staff members took extra precautions, putting a radio receiver in Hart's ears to compensate for hearing loss and planning radio instructions from the ground to help him steer to the landing site. Then they saw he couldn't lift his arms much higher than the top of his head with a 35-pound parachute pack on his back. They replaced his confining jumpsuit with a sweat shirt and spent nearly an hour lengthening the lanyards so he could reach them and control the parachute when it opened. A static line clipped to the plane would open the parachute. No rip cord was needed. But participants didn't count on whatever misfortune struck as Hart stepped out of the plane. Rick Frazier, who jumped with him to videotape the descent, said Hart held on to a plane strut for a second or two instead of free-falling. "I sort of slipped and hit my shoulder on the plane and that's what caused the problem," Hart later told KING-TV news. He could only reach one of the two lanyards. The folks on the ground watched anxiously as he swung toward the landing site and then away. "Make a left turn, make a left turn," they cried into the radio. But he couldn't, and with no mouthpiece, couldn't tell them why. Struggling to avoid power lines and make a soft landing, Hart told KING-TV, he managed to maneuver himself over a field of Scots broom shrubs. "So when I hit those things, branches flew and leaves and whatever, because it wasn't a real landing, you know, it was a landing to save my bacon, really," Hart said. Lucid when found, he initially was treated at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton. He later was admitted to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia for overnight observation and was reported in stable condition last night. Mike Faught of Blue Skies said Hart told him he'd like to jump again. Hart is hoping his jump will qualify him for the Guinness World Record held by Herb Tanner of Mayfield Heights, Ohio, who was 92 when he jumped in June 1998. Onlookers discussed whether Hart's adventure would qualify for Guinness despite the ragged finale. That remains up in the air. -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings.

He is just a little cutie! I'm glad he is doing so well. My granddaughter had to wear a 'helmet' similar to his because of a misshapen head. We decorated it all over with 'girlie' type stickers. She definitely got some strange looks from the general public because they didn't know why she had to wear such a helmet! We met a few people that knew because their child had also had one. -
Here is an article from our newspaper this morning. It seems coffee may not be so bad! Coffee may cut liver cancer By Randolph E. Schmid The Associated Press WASHINGTON — That hot cup of coffee may do more than just provide a tasty energy boost. It also may help prevent the most-common type of liver cancer. A study of more than 90,000 Japanese found that people who drank coffee daily or nearly every day had half the liver-cancer risk of those who never drank coffee. The American Cancer Society estimates that 18,920 new cases of liver cancer were diagnosed in the United States last year and that 14,270 people died of the illness. Causes include hepatitis, cirrhosis, excess alcohol consumption and diseases causing chronic inflammation of the liver. Animal studies have suggested a protective association of coffee with liver cancer, so the research team led by Monami Inoue of the National Cancer Center in Tokyo analyzed a 10-year public-health study to determine coffee use by people diagnosed with liver cancer and people who did not have cancer. They found the likely occurrence of liver cancer in people who never or almost never drank coffee was 547.2 cases per 100,000 people over 10 years. But for people who drank coffee daily the risk was 214.6 cases per 100,000, the researchers report in this week's issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. They found that the protective effect occurred in people who drank one to two cups of coffee a day and increased at three to four cups. They were unable to compare the effect of regular and decaffeinated coffee, however, because decaf is rarely consumed in Japan. It's the caffeine in coffee that makes some people nervous, and it has been shown in other studies to increase mental alertness in many people. Some studies have suggested caffeine aggravates symptoms of menopause or intensifies the side effects of some antibiotics. Heavy caffeine use has been linked to miscarriage. But studies have also shown that a skin cream spiked with caffeine lowers the risk of skin cancer in mice. "It's an excellent, interesting and provocative study, and their conclusions seem justified," said Dr. R. Palmer Beasley of the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, who was not part of the research group. "It will provoke a lot of new work here." While the study found a statistically significant relationship between drinking coffee and having less liver cancer, the authors note that it needs to be repeated in other groups. And the reason for the reduction remains unclear. However, Inoue's team noted that coffee contains large amounts of antioxidants and that several animal studies have indicated those compounds have the potential to inhibit cancer in the liver. In their study, the team also looked at green tea, which contains different antioxidants, and they found no association between drinking the tea and liver-cancer rates. "Other unidentified substances may also be responsible" for the reduction in cancers, they said. -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings.

Chris, My heart goes out to your friend Dave, his family and friends and of course to you, dear friend. I am so sorry for what you and all involved must be going through. You must know I am sending you hugs and the strength to get through this together. PM me if you want to talk about it. It's never easy to lose a friend and even harder to lose one so suddenly and unexpected. Hugs to you, Jan -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings.

You will find mixed thoughts concerning chiropractors. If you have a good one, you shouldn't hurt after an adjustment, or they shouldn't cause you any more pain. He brought me such relief after having a back injury and especially after a car accident I was in. The biggest plus is relief from my headaches, which I have had 'forever' and never knew why. There is a new chiropractor in the office now, who is also a massage therapist and he knew exactly where my headaches originate, and used a pressure point to the spot of origin. If seeing a chiropractor makes you feel better, then go for it. It definintely has made an improvement for me.
