Yes, i agree completely, but all that was know is that stonecolddude was doing a high performance landing on a stilleto 135, but how many degrees he was turning or anything else was only known to him. There isnt a reason this should of happened if it was discussed more instead of him trying to call the shots and say this is how it is going to happen. Stonecolddude, there is a way to handle situations and yealling and screaming on the ground after you landed at the person under the 170 is def. not the right thing to do. If anything walk over and talk to him or wait till you have cooled off and take it as a learning lesson. It has happened to me on several occasions. Just because you wanna do a 270 doesnt mean you can or should every jump. Some situations dont allow for it and in those situations you need to do a smaller turn or do a straight in approach.

Just some jumps at Skydive Palatka and for everyone who has talked trash about me..... -
Are you still upset about that jump? It happened well over 3 months ago. I announced I would be going first since I was on a 107 and "stonecolddude" announced he would go second, but did not care to ask others about delays or anything else. The person that he was upset with hopped out and pulled a little below 3 and is an experienced jumper with over 500 jumps and performed a predictable landing pattern and approach like the jumper under the 170 always does. But like was said by someone else, altitude you pull at makes a difference.

Hog Flop Boogie at Skydive Palatka
NexGenSkydiver replied to NexGenSkydiver's topic in Events & Places to Jump
The plans have been made and the dates are october 30th till november 2nd. Delands skyvan will be out flying all day on Saturday and Sunday along with our Grand Caravan. More information to come in the following days. -
I will be attending all the meets this year!
-
Taxiway is real good with letting other people know which way he is landing on hop n pops or when he pulls high, its just the correct thing to do. There has never been in my knowledge confusion as to which way he is landing on all the jumps I have done with him or him in the plane over the last year I have been at palatka
-
thanx, but kaz said she would explain it to me in more detail this weekend after briefly explaining it to me with mcnenney before they had to leave last weekend.

Check out www.rrheal-concepts.com/pictures/Palatka for several swooping pictures taking at Skydive Palatka, all taken and edited by Eric Florio. I wouldnt post that, but it wont let me load the pictures -
USPA Canopy Piloting Nationals 2008 - Colorado
NexGenSkydiver replied to frost's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I will be attending nationals -
no, it had nothing to do with what you said scotty, came from someone else.......what happened to trying the blindman? Lol! Blue skies and hope to see you out Saturday
-
very likely, if we can get approval from the proper authority. Have been trying to decide the best place to place the pond, spent a couple rides up talking to mcnenney and kaz about there opinion.......if we get proper approval I will post

from all my experience I have found that my rears will stall my canopy when pulled a certian distance no matter how fast or slow I am going......not that it changes with speed as you say. I have never exited the plane planning to use rears to slingshot myself because I don't understand it and my canopy recovers on its own so I don't need that slingshot.... I can hit gates, on normal weekends I hit 5ft gates every jump except maybe one or two for the whole weekend.....I thank me being able to hit gates on the fact that I train on gates closer then comp. gates and that they are only 5ft gates......I have found out what I needed from stu as far as my question goes......I don't like some of the comments that have been made please don't judge me until you have seen me fly and if you come to palatka I wouldnt mind jumping with you
-
I know and trust me, I will....I was just clearing up what this post was about..... guess you cant make things clear to everyone, oh well. I got the answer I needed and will def. be getting more once I talk to scott and kaz, and mcnenney if he decides to come down. Thanx for all the answers stu
-
thank you and you too! This thread was suppose to be about is there a benefit to using your rears to shorten your recovery on purpose, like you plan to do it before you exit the aircraft, not about using rears to pull someone out of a bad turn/setup
-
this pilot said he does it on purpose every jump. Like I said, he said he believes it slingshots him out of the turn. I was saying I use them if I have a bad setup, butte uses them every jump.....I did bot understand his belief behind it, that is why i am asking since I don't know when Scott or kaz will be out.......
-
I only use my rears if I need to, I know where the stall point is with my rears. I have many canopy learning jumps, like pulling high and learning about my canopy and getting comfortable under it. I use the natural recover arch 95% of the time as that is what my canopy coaches have taught me, but I was wondering if there was any benefit from it, because one swooper who competed in the cpc told me that he puts himsel in the corner where he has to use his rears because it slingshots him out of the corner. I only have used my rears to correct my turn very little, but once I have gone threw the gates I have been playing with using them to carve or to trim the canopy to climb some.
-
I have been told by some swoopers they use their rears on every jump to pull out of the recovery arch. Do you? If you do, why do you do it? Do you see better performance out of it? I jump a katana loaded at 1.7 and dont use rears unless I am a little low. I have several jumps on a velo96 and didnt use rears on that either. Just cause of what people do and why they do it, thanx! Blue Skies, Shane

Do you use a packer with a full RDS?
NexGenSkydiver replied to AggieDave's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Thats why I personally dont let anyone but amber pack mine because everyone else doesnt take what i feel is enough time or interest in hooking them up, lol! I hope to be up at the farm soon and play on the pond, just started blindmans blue skies! -
Do you remove your slider every jump?
NexGenSkydiver replied to everymansaved's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
http://www.peaengineering.com/RDS.htm Scott Roberts makes them. I find them the easiest to pack and to have better openings, just my opinion, have over 1500 packs with them easily -
Do you use a packer with a full RDS?
NexGenSkydiver replied to AggieDave's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I have packed well over a 1000 rds setups for a select few top canopy pilots and even a couple for ian, but as far as people packing for me, only one and thats someone i taught and all she does is hook up the rds..... -
Could you read the post before you post.....i said I was going to put more jumps on my katana......I am doing 270s and use my rears, doesnt mean I feel i myself am ready......
-
I completely agree that's why I said I dont think I am ready for a velo....yet....also if I fall to less then 400 jumps a year I will not jump a velo because I think being very current is important escpially when flying a crossbraced canopy.....also I will do jumps with weights before I downsize which is what I did with the 120 before I went to the 107, but I haven't felt any want to put weights on yet, but since my turn has been getting more dialed in and consistant I am sure I will throw on a couple pounds after another 100 jumps or so......I asked the original question bc I was just curious to know.....
-
I listen to what people with more experience in canopy piloting say as far as canopy piloting goes......I think asking a lot of questions has helped me out a lot, but applying what they say in the air then after a lot of practicing gradually bring it to the ground.....I would love to be able to jump a velocity, but I dont think I myself am personally ready for one.....I wanna learn more on my katana.....steve I will be up there again hopefully at least once before the winter....I really liked the farm
-
I think someone should be judged by how someone flys a canopy not there jump numbers.....I have a little over 420 jumps, but over 200 have been high pulls or working on canopy skills....yes you still might not know how I fly my canopy.....I would please like you to see how I fly my canopy before you judge me.....thanx
-
are your bags size specific like previous models of bandless bags or can you use several different size canopies of the same model on the same bag? If so.....how is the canopy held securely in the bag without the concern of line dump?
