  1. Speaking about shoveling things into the volcano, someone should shovel a few billion tons of popcorn, it'd be awesome. Who'd care about ash when it's raining popcorn.
  2. More so than you'd imagine. The Government uses God more here than anywhere else I've seen. It's so intertwined with politics that it the church often has to step out to speak against what politicians say. Recently the ruling party told people if they didn't vote for them they'd be putting themselves in hell, or something equally as manipulative... Hence a church leader having to release a press statement saying people mustn't worry about going to hell for voting for the wrong party. Whether or not these are true Christians is beyond the point, they continue to claim to be and continue to use religion in politics. And still try to push 'Gods will" on people. South Africa can be likened to the Southern U.S states when it comes to religion.

Jesus got them mad swooping skills... Probably his most controversial of actions, in his 2000 year history.
  4. You mention the 'shrinking of Israel' - Israel has been expanding by the forced decline of the so-called Palestinian territories, yet no one saw this as a 'shrinking of Palestine" Fact of the matter is that through the last century Israel has continued to widen it's occupied areas and Palestinians have been forced to occupy smaller and smaller areas. You seem to be concerned of Israel being 'wiped of the map', but yet that's what's been happening to the Palestinians. If anything, I see it more diplomatically wise to give Palestine some borders in an agreement, though making sure it's a sufficient area. Then should they act in violence in an attempt to further expand, then at least any defence on Israel's part would be warranted. Right now they're given nothing and when they try to get anything (What they had before) they're punished. I'm not saying it will solve anything, but I see it as fair and better than just refusing.
  5. Well... with the world ending and everything... Just going to put this out there... Sharing is caring... In reality, nothing special - though if it were really the end of the world tomorrow, I'd be in jail by this evening.
  6. I'm completely for giving Palestine the 1967 borders. Both sides are instigators, both sides claim they're right and the other is wrong and both feel as though they deserve the land. Except the difference is Israel already has a strong state and they seem to be controlled by greed. And Israel has been able to take so much land from the Palestinians quite easily, by being America's lap dog. Having Jewish family which I've discussed this matter with - I've seen some of the mentalities that go along with it. "Give it, it's ours - God gave it to us...", along with lack of empathy for any attack that injures Palestinians. That's not to say it's not the same on both sides, I'm sure the views are quite similar on the Palestinian side. The difference is Israel gets patted on the back by larger first world countries for such thinking. Because naturally, if God said it was their land - then it is, chosen people and everything. Do I have a solution that will solve the problem? No. But I get annoyed with almost everyone hopping on the "I love Israel" bandwagon. I don't know whether it's holocaust guilt or what, but it seems to many that Israel can do no wrong. All I know is that allowing them to take up any land they desire is foolish. And yet when you look at how Palestine has shrunk over the past 60 years, you can see that Israel has done a charming job at being the 'Alpha dog' of the situation. Yet instead people seem to see them as the under dog. As I said though, both Israel and Palestine have their problems. But to deny Palestinian borders because you're scared of them or because God says otherwise, both seem like crap. I don't think either side desires peace, Israel seems to think they're entitled to whatever they want and will only find peace when they've made it happen. While I see Palestinians as people who are willing to fight so that they don't get trampled on by results of greed. I don't fully support either of their mentalities. But the way I've always seen it is that Israel has more power and has used that power to get what they want, while people turn a blind eye because they perceive all Palestinians as evil. And when Palestinians try to hold on to what little they have it's a "Palestinians are so evil!!", yet nobody cries fowl when Israel destroys Palestinian homes. It's one of those things where people by default support Israel without even knowing the situation. There's probably millions of people who will say Israel is right, simply because Israel lays in bed with the U.S. I bet if the roles were reversed and the Palestinians were the ones held in the safety nets of first world countries, Israel would either have already been bombed or the general thinking would be "Don't let those bullies take what you deserve, fight back..." /rant Though I will say that this is based on what I have seen and read. It's an issue I'm willing to listen to. And perhaps change my thinking on, if reliable and logical information should show that Israel should be entitled to everything they claim they are. And the reasons why Palestine should be the enemy and why their presence there should not be accepted and instead why support should be given to oppressing them.
  7. The same reason some people are into blonde hair and others not, same reason some are into super thin girls and some aren't. I know I'd rather have a girl that's 5kg over than a girl that's 10kg under. I'm not an engineer or scientist, nor do I like fat girls. But I know people who think I'm crazy for like a bit of meat on their bones, where as I think it's disgusting when girls are too thin. And too thin again is a term that differs from person to person. Personal tastes - they differ,
  8. The problem most atheists have is not that people believe in God, it's that their beliefs are rooted in society and politics. Fact of the matter is many, many Christians look down upon those who aren't following their same beliefs. In my experience, majority of them do. And they kind of have to, to be a proper Christian. The Bible encourages and promotes trying to convert people, that is one's destiny as a Christian according to the bible. Having a coping mechanism is fine, but it's when that coping mechanism gets pushed onto everyone around you that it becomes a problem. Atheists don't want their rights to be determined by biblical teachings. They don't want to be oppressed by others beliefs - and like it or not, religion is prominent in politics, and people have this mentality that only Christians are good people. So much so that there would be no chance of an American president who is openly atheist. And that is why people try to destroy this crutch. Having an object for motivation is fine, just don't make your problems mine, which unfortunately has already happened. And it's annoying to have Christians constantly looking down their noses at atheists. The movement you're describing is not one of action, but rather of reaction. The idea of 'attacking religion' is more of a fight for freedom. A world where you don't need to be religious to become president, where you don't need to be religious to be considered a 'good person' and a world where you can make your own moral decisions without your rights being affected by a majority of religious people with different ideals. Gay marriage for example, something strongly opposed by majority of religious people - it's something that wouldn't affect them, no one is forcing them to marry someone of the same sex, but because if their beliefs they feel they should be able to say what other people do. Trust me, if people kept their oppressive religious beliefs to themselves, there would be no big desire from non-believers to constantly go up against their beliefs. But that's not the case.
  9. Older than all holy hell ;) And what's more, that would be 'nowcasting' and not forecasting. Forecasting made easy is getting me to do what I love doing and looking through numerical global model outputs.
  10. Hi, Are you still unable to access these forums? I've looked at your profile and I see no bans listed for you, and as far as I know - Rhys was banned by username and not IP (though I wasn't the one who imposed those bans so I can't be sure).
  11. Notice the words "HAS TO BE" in your quote. There is no way anyone can honestly believe that say in this example, God is the only way for one to overcome addiction. Because to say that something NEEDS God to occur is different than saying that God may have been responsible for it (that was the discussion, I wanted an example of something that is impossible to occur within the realms of understood science). If I throw a basketball through a hoop, would you say that this is just the result of physics and luck or would you say that this is something that God made happen? Because what you're saying is that such a claim is completely equal on both sides. That the person saying it was God who put the ball in the basket has just as much validity as the person saying it was just what is. I'm not even asking for proof. I'm asking for a simple situation where a so-called miracle needs to be an action from God and not just a natural occurrence. This is the problem, everybody wants to claim God helped them in everything. All this does is cheapen so-called miracles. "I passed my exam, it's a miracle - God helped me!" "I managed to slip and fall without dying! God was watching over me clearly!" "I managed to puke this morning without getting any in my hair, OH GOD IS SO GOOD!" People just love the idea that God is responsible for anything positive that happens. And if it's negative? Well then it was either his will and we can't see his intentions, or it was the devil.
  12. Our father who art in Graceland Elvis be thy name Thy singing come, thy dance be done On earth as it is in Heaven Give us this day, our blue suede shoes And forgive us our cruelty As we forgive those who are cruel towards us And lead us not into a bathroom stall But deliver us from obesity For thou is the King, the power and the glory Forever and ever – Uh huh. Slow day...
  13. The following scam has been reported: Click here to read more about these kind of scams. Remember: DO NOT do business with anyone who offers to send you payment for a higher amount than your selling price with the understanding that you'll send back the balance. Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be acting on behalf of a "client" or another "customer". Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be from Nigeria or West Africa If you agree to accept a check payment, then do not send anything, gear or "change" before the check cleared. And be careful, if you manage to clear a fraudulent check then you may be liable for the damages if the bank finds out later. Make sure your bank authenticates the check. If it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.This username has been disabled.
  14. I know that didn't make sense to me. It's great that you overcame your addictions, and if you need to feel that God was responsible for that, I almost feel bad arguing against it, since clearly the concept of God has helped you. But that said, there are people who overcome addictions all over the world and they do it often by finding something that inspires them to stop and that they draw their power from. In your case it may have been the concept of God, in other cases it's the idea of doing it for one's child, or a friend. There are people of all religions too, who overcome their problems through the concept of their God. God isn't an entity in this case, God is anything - God could be your dog. It's any single thing that inspires one to change. To say that it has to be a supernatural being that causes it, well that's just untrue. There is no correlation between overcoming addiction and one's career and income levels. It doesn't take a genius to be dedicated to something. As an addict you are dedicated to whatever it is you're addicted to, the problem is just that your passion and dedication is in something destructive - in your recovery, you're channelling that passion and dedication into something more healthy, in your case it was 'God'. It seems you think you needed God to overcome what you did. Why is it that you feel as though you're not strong enough to do it yourself - it seems like you have an unfounded lack of self-esteem in this regard. It was all you who did it, just using the concept of God for help. I urge you to take some of that respect and appreciation you have for God, and place it on yourself instead.
  15. Unblack metal needs to burn, and not even in hell - because then they'd destroy all the good music that happens there. I don't think there is anyone with any credibility in metal that supports unblack metal. Good news is, that if they actually ever got as far as playing a REAL show, they'd just get the shit kicked out of them.
  16. Please provide me some examples of such miraculous acts that can only be attributed to God providing a blessing. Just because something unlikely happens doesn't mean that when it happens it was caused by God. Even something with the slimmest of odds can occur at any point. Though I'd genuinely like to hear of situations that can only happen because of God and not happen in the realms of reality.
  17. You just don't know how to have fun, fun, fun, fun, fun funfunfunfunfunfunf unf unf unf.
  18. Oh look at that, I totally de-railed the thread by not completely reading the OPs post. Good thing it's Bonfire and derailing a thread is completely normal... But I guess it's time to get it back on track. Rebecca Black, any day.
  19. That would be a great song to play while in the process of a spree killing. And what's better is that it even inspires one ;) Edit to add: Said spree kill must be envisioned in slow motion for effect.
  20. Nah, I don't listen to death metal, black metal I do though - I like Slayer though. Haha that's anything but typical 'modern alternative' though. They're not 'whining crybabies' at all. They're signed to Bridge9 records ( signed alongside with bands like this [also good] - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvWONI7PC7o ) It's a hardcore punk label. Crime in Stereo are big in the hardcore scene, they're definitely far from emo or anything like that. If you're looking for the name of the genre, it's Melodic Hardcore. Everyone always wins with Slayer though ;)
  21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5V7srb44bMg&feature=related When it came out I had it on repeat for 3 weeks, can easily do the rest of my life.
  22. Well... As far as point number 1 goes - We have a content filter which hides photographs that are flagged for nudity. One needs to go into their profile and turn off the content filter before you can see nude-flagged photos. We require members to flag photos, if the photo they are uploading contains visible nudity. As for point #2 - I'm assuming this is the primary reason ;) Will have to think about this proposal. In the mean time, I'm sure most of the nudes would be located in 'special jumps' - just guessing here. I think there may be too few nude photos for it to warrant it's own category though. Besides, the harder they are too find, the more you'll appreciate em when you do ;)

And that... Is why restraints was only ever a one time experience for me. There is nothing more terrifying than having teeth down there and the inability to respond should they be sunk into your skin.
