  1. I know a couple of manufacturers make USB wireless adapters that are about the size of a thumb drive. When plugged into the back of the machine, nobody would ever know it was there. Also a lot less effort to install, and much more 'returnable' if it doesn't work. BTW, PCI cards are supposedly hot-swappable - that shouldn't have caused any damage if he was careful about not touching other components. I guess what I am saying is, maybe that was just a dud of a machine to start with. Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterward. Accidents don't just happen. 4. Poor Lisa! Sorry you have to deal with this guy. I am a smoker myself, but I don't feel like anybody has the right to create a work environment that is unpleasant and potentially unhealthy. You might be able to find a diplomatic way of telling him the smell bothers you; maybe ask if he wouldn't mind 'airing out' out a bit and washing his hands after smoke break. I'd be very embarrassed if a coworker told me I stink . If all else fails, anonymously leave a package of breathmints on his desk when one morning before he gets in... that'll get your message across. PS - side note: if he is a 'hardcore' smoker that smokes in his house and his car, you may be stuck with the smell. I never smoke in my house, but know ppl who do, and they smell bad even to me! 5. Anything made by KIA or Hyundai. In 6 years, my 2001 KIA Sephia has needed the following repairs: - 2K miles, spedometer stopped working, electronics fried - 22K miles, two new ignition coils (warranty) - 23K miles, new battery #1 ($130) - 26K miles, new battery #2 ($130) - 31K miles, new alternator (warranty) - 40K miles, completely new clutch kit ($900) - 42K miles, the springs in both front door handles broke (haven't bothered to fix) - 58K miles, complete CV axle replacements, both sides ($1,300) - 64K miles, new batter #3 (mind you, the factory battery was supposed to last 5 years - $130) At around 40K miles, it started doing this weird thing where you have to crank it 3 times to start it - every time, like clockwork. The first try, it will just crank til you kill the battery if you don't quit. The second try, same thing - or it will catch then splutter. Third try, it fires up like a Lamborghini. Everything in the whole damn car vibrates and rattles - rearview mirror, sun visors, door panels, glovebox. The paint is spidered and flaking off the bumpers, and the taillight assemblies and trunk leak water. You might as well go to the bank, take out $20,000 and just burn it on the sidewalk out front.... 6. Absolutely bad news! Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS) should be used only as a last resort before filing bankruptcy. I used one a few years ago, and it destroyed my credit rating. Here's how it works: the CCCS negotiates a lower interest rate with your creditors (which in turn will lower your payments and payoff time). The creditors then cancel your accounts - all of them - not just the ones you choose to add to the debt reduction program. You now have no credit lines available, you're paying balances on dead cards, and the credit history you built with those cards is completely gone. That history makes up 35% of your credit rating! 35% of nothing is... Good luck!
  7. I used 'em for a month or two. For the longest time I thought I was just overloading my dryer and that's why the clothes were balling up, but I stopped using the blue things, and my clothes started coming out like they used to - nice and unwrinkled. 8. I stopped using mine because they didn't seem to shorten my drying time at all, and they actually wrinkled my clothes pretty badly. They would 'snag' on items and ball them up so tight they'd dry wrinkly. Like a few other said, they're loud as hell too. 9. Me, too. I don't know why putting clothes away is such a pain. I end up with the dresser drawers almost empty and the clothes in nice neat stacks on the back of the couch. My folded laundry usually ends up sitting in stacks ON my dresser, not IN the drawers. Y'all, I don't even bother to take the clothes out of the dryer. I barely have time to wash laundry at all, let alone fold it. My solution: plan loads of laundry so that they contain 7 complete outfits (I have super loader machines) - right down to the number of pairs of underwear and socks. Every morning, I just turn it on for 5 minutes on low while I brush my teeth, then grab a freshly 'ironed' set of clothes. Man, writing this made me realize how truly bizarre my system is... 10. Mike, this is correct. Your expired license will be valid throughout your active duty service and for 90 days thereafter. Check out this link below - the AK DMV can send you a card that you can carry along with your license explaining this to law enforcement if you get stopped. 11. I'm also on Comcast and get pretty much the same speeds. Ocassionally my downstream will surge up to 18 Mbps for a few hours. Just a few years ago I got excited when my dial-up connected at 53 Kbps instead of 48 Kbps. I'm sure in a few years we'll be looking back saying "16 Mbps? Why did you even bother?" 12. Why eat when you can drink?! It's less effort I start off the day with a magnum of Bollinger or Krug and a gallon of orange juice. I just drink mimosas until I either can't get up to fix another or the bottle runs dry. Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterward. 13. Check out Surefire Sonic Defenders. They are vented to prevent the vacuum from building up in your ear, and you can still hear sounds below 80 decibels. I love mine! 14. I had a seriously awesome Christmas! My parents and sister's fiance bought me an hour of tunnel time in Orlando; my aunt bought me a coaching package to go with it; Sister threw in a pair of Sorz and Surefire Sonic Defenders; My grandparents bought me the 2008 SIM. 15. Yep! My tandem was from 15,500 - about a 1 minute freefall, and I remember exactly 3 seconds of it. Watching the video helped me remember a lot of it. Not to mention I got to see how absolutely awful I was! Flopping around like a rag doll with no arch whatsoever. Hope you enjoy the jump, and go back for more! Stupid Glitter!

And when they are deflated during the day, it looks like the people have trash laying around in their yard! The other day I was driving past a house in my neighborhood and the front yard looked like a canopy factory had exploded! Piles of multicolor nylon everywhere - on the ground, hanging from trees, the roof... I had no idea what the hell it was until that night. Over 100 inflatable snowmen, all lit up. Very classy... 18. Those seem to be rare and hard to find. And the 2007 models don't even seem to list TDI as an engine option. VW suspended production of the Jetta TDI as of late 2006, but they are bringing it back in the 2008 model year. The TDI emissions needed to be cleaned up, so they took two years off to figure it out. (Read this on VW's corporate site). Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterward. Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.
  19. Hi Richard, welcome! I hope you decide to join in the fun! I'd also recommend the tandem jump. It is a great way to experience the thrill with very little training/stress. Be careful though - do it once and there's a 99.9% chance you'll become totally obsessed!

  23. Logowriter was the first computer 'game' I ever played. It was part of a class in middle school back when the IIe was hot shit.
