  1. After my 8th jump when I couldn't find the dz and picked a nice big muddy field to land in, I had a long session with Google Earth. I liked it because you can change the angle you are viewing and area from. I can change a bunch. I never lost the dz again. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! 3. I made my own and started wearing it after I got my A. I actually made a couple, so I change them from time to time, but I always wear one. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  4. Shhhhhh Nobody knows grannies get into mischief, right?? I'm gonna need to see video from your antics this weekend (and your PIC does usually get that, teehee) since I'm going to Utah. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  5. Skydiver Information Manual (SIM) http://www.uspa.org/SIM.aspx Quote The link here works fine. It takes you right to the page where you can download the SIM. Quote "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  6. Reasoned? With the two of you, just a slight suggestion can set things in motion. And you even drag innocent grandmothers into doing things they shouldn't. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  7. Yep, I'm coming. We're going to the tunnel around 1 Saturday and then heading to the dz after. We even plan on staying overnight so I can jump again Sunday. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

  10. I looked at the link that Strop45 posted above and it looks like good stuff to use. Take a look.
  11. That looks like great info. I wish I had seen it about 100 or so jumps ago. I sorta wish we had something like this. I feel a little like we get our A's and are turned loose to try and figure out how to do RW by trial and error. Our coach program is designed to help a student make the transitition for AFF to the A license and doesn't really help with learning RW skills. I jump with some great people at Star and I know that if I am prepared with what will help me improve, they will work with me. Thanks, "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! 12. That was my case too. The dz is on a county line and I managed to land out twice in my first 8 jumps, once in each of the two counties. I was asked if I would please let them know what county I planned on landing in. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  13. Google Earth is a great way to do this. You can not only look for outs, but you can change the angle you are looking at the landing area from to give you a better idea of how things may look that a plain overhead view. I did this after I lost the dz on ny eigth jump. I haven't lost it since. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  14. This is really a response to eveybody posting so far. It is so nice to see so many others say they suck. I've done a lot of jumps since I started less than a year ago and I, too, suck at RW too often for my liking. Sometimes things are great and then I won't be able to stay with the formation. (It seems almost inevitable if I have to turn more than 180 degrees) I talked with some of my AFF instructors and they strongly suggested two way drills and I am definitely going to follow their recommendations. So, any body have any ideas for drills? "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

  19. That we're related/??? I got Iron Mary Flint. "A pirate's life isn't easy; it takes a tough person. That's okay with you, though, since you a tough person. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr! LisaH says it's me. lol "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! 20. It was late and I just got home from band practice. I'd just spent three hours playing my saxophone after not touching it all summer and I think I was a little light-headed. See you in a few weeks. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
