  1. I've only got an A license, so I can't jump with you until you have yours too. And yes, I would jump with you.
  2. Hey, great!!! Another West coast jumper. I do like Kapow's Otter and Caravan, of course, but I am looking forward to the CASA. See you in NC.
  3. Glad you had a great birthday. I bet Holly has something great planned for you for tomorrow. Have fun.
  4. Yep. I was at Walmart yesterday and there was Christmas music playing. I really like Crristmas music, AFTER Thanksgiving.
  5. The USPA counts tandem jumps, so be sure you log them. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  6. You have no idea how spoiled until you jump from a C-182. My home dz has 2 and sometimes both are even running and in the air so we can do formation loads. From what I've figured out, a CASA is a skyvan on steroids and I did get to jump from a skyvan at Prairie. It was a fun jump, but i am looking forward to jumping from a CASA. Having so many people in the air at the same time is a little intimidating, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
  7. I do that. And I land in nice big student areas generally away from where others are landing if I can. I figure the exercise from walking in is good for me and I want to be able to say that I "have been a skydiver for quite a while" one of these days.
  8. Hey!! since I've still got a year and a half to go to to be eligible for SOS, I'm hoping I've got a few years of jumping coming my way.
  9. But I do that now if I don't like what i see when I look out the door at the ground and I've only been jumping a year. Does that mean I've been a skydiver for a while??? "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  10. What????? I'm flying clear across the country and you can't get there for even one day??????
  11. You are going to do fantastic. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  12. I love the fact that you said your first tandem because if you like it like I did, it won't be your last. It's a fantastic experience. Just have fun, enjoy the view and get ready to sign up for your next jump.
  13. THanks. It's just not fun when the world interferes and I have to work instead of play.
  14. You do have tenure, right/???? "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  15. This is just entirely unfair. I wanna come play too. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  16. I know how things can suck sometimes. Buying that suir is sure a lot better way to deal with things than many choose. Nice suit Hope I get to see you flying in it at Prairie this year. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  17. Ummmm, in the Seattle area you are gonna be making mud pies, not snowballs. It's a bit damp there.
  18. And the snow being gone would be a problem for whom? "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  19. But you're coming this way!!!!! You'll really want to bring it with you. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

  22. Hi farmgurl, Somehow I missed this thread. Skydiving has been the best thing that has happened to/for me in the last 30+ years. Last October, at 57, I did a tandem as an extra credit assignment for a physics class. I had never really thought about going skydiving, but........ As I was sitting on the ground after the tandem, I was thinking "I could do this again". About two hours later, I decided every year for my birthday would be good. But, about two hours after that, I was calling the dz to find out how to learn to do it myself. I did my first AFF jump Thanksgiving weekend and I haven't looked back. Sure there are times when I get frustrated with learning new skills, but then when I read other jumpers posts here, I realize there isn't anything I am having difficulty with that is new or unique. And I also realized that problems aren't specific to age or gender. Everyone has issues of some sort. We all struggle with different things. Sensory overload is something that some experience to a greater degree than others, but we all start there to some extent. I could have sworn my eyes were closed the first part of my tandem, but apparently they weren't. Just sensory overload
