Nope, sorry to disappoint you.

Like I have been saying all along, I don't know if she was or wasn't....not enough info. If you, on the other hand, can tell what was being said and what she was yelling then, by all means, share it so we can all be better informed!

Hmmmmm....trying to weasel your way out of something you said? So, what would you do...shoot him in his little pinkie toe? Or, maybe, just shoot his hat off? Let me give you some advice, little boy. If you ever pull out a gun in self defense you had better be damn good and ready to use it and by that I mean shoot to STOP. Unfortunately shooting to stop means shooting at center torso which quite often leads to death. If you aren't prepared to take the life of the person you are trying to stop then don't even carry. Now you can go back to fantasizing about shooting unarmed cops in the park in front of their kids.

If I did nothing and was about to be clubbed? Hell yes. But I doubt that will ever happen to me. And I've seen maybe 3 mounted police in my life, and all of them were when I was travelling. So-let me see if i got this right-if a cop pulled his night stick and was about to hit you with it you would pull out a gun and shoot him? But you don't feel a cop should be able to taser someone who is refusing to settle down and continues to act irrationally and unpredictably? What makes your safety worth taking a cops life, but a cop's safety, and that of others around, isn't worth tasering an irate and uncooperative woman? After all, the chances of her being killed by the taser are extremely remote yet if you shoot someone they stand a very real chance of dying.

Inhofe again Oregon Institute, Inhofe... why can't you find a CREDIBLE source for your junk? Who do you consider credible? Agreeing with you doesn't make anyone any more credible than not agreeing with you lessens their credibility. Maybe you could list several reasons why you feel Oregon is not credible.

No, it is not a reversal of roles. If a cop used a taser on you it would be, justified or not, in the performance of his duties. If it was found to not be justified the cop would be punished. If you shot an unarmed cop in a park it would be murder and you would, hopefully, face the death penalty for such an act.
-
Which means you better draw and shoot the instant the cops hand goes to toward the taser. But, if you do that, you are no longer protecting yourself against an imminent threat and are shooting a peace officer merely because they were preparing to deal with a situation in case it got out of hand. Where would you draw the line? Would you justify shooting a cop because he pulled out his night stick? Night sticks can be used to kill people a lot more brutally than a taser. What about mounted police? Their horse is a weapon both of intimidation and compliance. Do we start shooting cops because they have dogs with them? Night sticks, horses, dogs, tasers, etc. are all methods of compliance that cops use. Of all of these tasers are among the most effective, safe, and humane. If you justify shooting a cop because they pull out a taser, then you MUST justify sooting cops just because they have a dog, nightstick, or horse.

Where did you get the idea that I blindly obey and conform? All I've been saying here is that we don't know everything that happened leading up to the tasering. Do YOu know what was said? Do YOU know what the issue with her credit card was? Do YOU know whether she threatened the cop or someone else? I have no idea whether it was justified, I wasn't there and there isn't nearly enough information available on the net to come to a conclusion. Doing so without having all the facts-ALL the facts- including what was said, is stupid.

Like I said, I couldn't get the video feed and still can't so if there is something there that isn't in the article then please post it so we are all on the same page.

Yeah, right. Have you ever been tasered? Not by one of the toys sold to the public by outdoor shops, but by the models cops use? I have (as part of a training program) and I can tell you first hand that no matter what you think you are going to do when it hits you, when that electricity fires through your muscle tissue your body does what it wants, which is NOT what your brain wants! You are completely helpless for a few moments before slowly regaining control. Many people lose bladder and bowel control when tasered (I did).

Show me where the police version is and I'll read it. All that is quoted from the police in the link you provided was a statement that said the officer was justified and that the woman was using profane language, was irate, etc., and a sentence explaining some of their policy for use of a taser. If that is all I had to go on then I would agree that it was justified. But there is more to it than just that so I can't form an opinion one way or the other. All I asked for was someone to post what was said between the cop and the suspect. It seems to me, and i may be wrong, that what was said could possibly have some bearing on why a taser was used. Just a thought.

You're willing to bring charges against the officer based on only what you could see in a surveillance video and what you read in a news report? I'm glad you aren't a prosecutor or else half the citizens of this country would be in jail. Like I said, it is impossible to know whether it was justified or not without knowing all the details and that includes what was said between the officer and the woman who was tasered. For all we know she may have screamed at the officer, "Don't come any closer or I'll kick your GD ass!" I'll go out on a limb and say that anyone who gets irate enough over a credit card to have the cops called probably isn't the most stable person in the store. We don't even know what the confusion over the credit card was. Did she refuse to show ID when she presented the card? Was it in a different name? I've been refused at the checkout because I didn't have an ID on me (I left it in the car) but it was nothing worth throwing a tantrum over.
-
Unless she said "I am about to assault you" the taser was probably not justified. Do you know for certain that she didn't say something to that effect to the cop or to another person there? It seems there are a lot of posters in this forum who are as quick to jump to conclusions (without knowing all the facts) as that cop was to use her taser.

I just like to know the whole story before passing judgement. It's this little fluke in my nature.

I'd really like to know what the verbal exchange was between the two. As I said, I couldn't view the video but was able to view the slide show, but that didn't help much. Can someone (anyone) fill in the blanks? I can't see how using a taser on an unarmed woman in a one-on-one situation can be justified but I don't know what was said.
-
I wasn't able to view the video. What was the woman saying to the cop? What did the cop tell the woman?

"The truth" is very subjective. Romans slaughtered Christians to educate them of "the truth", Christians slaughtered non-Christians in the name of "the truth", and it continues today with groups killing other groups just because they believe in a different "truth". Just because someone doesn't see things the same way you do doesn't mean they have their head in the sand and can't see "the truth". It just means they see things in a different light, that's all. -
I don't know whether any climate change that may be occurring is caused by people but I do know that even if the future follows even the most severe projections of man-made global warming those changes are small and almost insignificant when compared to the changes that have occurred by natural causes in Earth's history even as recently as within the last 50,000 years. Humans are newcomers to the planet. Any impact we have on Mother Earth will be shrugged off much the same as a dog scratches a flea.

It started out innocently enough. There was nothing more than suspicion at first, then accusations. Those who were the subject of the finger pointing denied involvement at first, but soon the pressure to admit involvement became too much and some gave in regardless of guilt. They confessed their sins and, to earn favor from their accusers, became accusers themselves. Soon, the government was putting on trial anyone who dared speak out against their cleansing acts. No person was safe, no person was exempt from suspicion. Only when it was over would the foolishness of it all be clear. But a lesson was learned, one that would never be repeated…or would it? Salem Witch Hunt? McCarthy Hearings? Drugs in Baseball?

Yes...but with reservations. I can understand how if x=.9999.... and 10X=9.9999... then 10X-X=9 so x=1. What gives me trouble, maybe someone can explain, is how that can be true but contradicted by 1-.9999...=.000...1

But..but...but Al Gore didn't sign it so it! How can you expect a group of scientists to accept anything that isn't endorsed by Al Gore?

The founders of our country would be surprised at how different things are today than back in 1776. Not only technologically, but also politically and socially.
