  1. +1 It amazes me how often the participants on this forum digress to "Did not!" "Did to!" Double-dog dares, and other school yard behavior. So many on this forum seem to think their party is wonderful. I have to wonder if we are talking about the same parties. I always find myself holding my nose as I vote for the (barely) least repugnant candidate. By the way..."left wing" and "right wing" are used so frequently around here that I am fairly sure the meaning of these terms was long since lost. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  2. I agree. They are announcing on the radio this morning that he is friend of Bradley Manning. Lush Rimjob, Nutter Beck, or Scum Hannity? Here is a hint to all Right Wing Conservatards - What you hear on the radio, and on Faux Spews, likely has little or no connection to FACTUAL information. In other words, gullible idiots repeating what was said on the radio are - gullible idiots, aka, Right Wing Conservatards. Did you check with the tribe to ensure that you are posting "approved" thoughts? I always struggle with irony. When someone's contribution to a discussion is a hate-filled emotional diatribe/attack that purports to lament the lack of facts and reason by his/her target...is that irony? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  3. Another successful space launch. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  4. I was surprised several years ago when I met an Afghan/American working to train people for Afghanistan. He was acting as an interpreter in simulated situations. He was a young, personable guy. I was a trainer there for the intel guys. He was from North Carolina. Turns out there are a few communities created by the US during the Russian invasion of Afghanistan. We gave them citizenship and they still live here. The young man said when he decided to get married, he would probably have his parents pick someone for him. The community stayed tight enough that a guy in his early 20s that was raised in the US since he was a small still wanted to follow the old ways. Seemed like a relevant story. 5. Interesting quote from Senator Obama in 2007 - “This administration also puts forward a false choice between the liberties we cherish and the security we provide. I will provide our intelligence and law enforcement agencies with the tools they need to track and take out the terrorists without undermining our Constitution and our freedom. That means no more illegal wiretapping of American citizens. No more national security letters to spy on citizens who are not suspected of a crime. No more tracking citizens who do nothing more than protest a misguided war. That is not who we are. And it is not what is necessary to defeat the terrorists. The FISA court works. The separation of powers works. Our Constitution works. We will again set an example for the world that the law is not subject to the whims of stubborn rulers, and that justice is not arbitrary.” I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 6. Finally got to jump there yesterday. Outstanding! The French national team trains there. They were there this weekend. There were enough English speakers that I had no issues. Large and well run operation. I wrote up a review and posted it. It is pending approval. If you are in Europe and close enough to make it, you really should try this place. 7. It all depends on the contractual agreement between the creditor and the collector. I'm pretty sure they aren't going to reveal that to you. Contact the creditor. They might be able to take payment and turn off the collection efforts. If not, the debt will no longer be an active account in their system and they will tell you so. Since you said it is a hospital, they are not going to take your money and hang you out to dry. It's just business to them. If you absolutely must deal with the collection agency, I recommend you pay the full amount and be done with it. For some reason, those people make being assholes an art. I wouldn't believe anything they tell you and I would deal with them the bare minimum possible. Just get it behind you. Also, you have a legal right to place a statement in your credit history regarding any issues. If there is a good reason this debt went unpaid (one poster said the bill was sent to an old address in their case), you can put together a clear, concise statement saying why the debt appeared on your record and that you handled it promptly when you became aware of it. This will be considered by any mortgage company when making decisions. They will also likely require statements about any irregularities in your record when going through the mortgage process. 8. Possible and reasonable. I don't think we are there, yet. I am just saddened to see how individual liberties have fallen in my lifetime. To pretend that any government is perfect and could never require replacement by violent means is ridiculous. I do not advocate it. I do not desire it. I fervently hope it will never again happen. But I am reasonably sure our founding fathers had similar views up to a point. On the flip side, I am sure people were just as upset when our government was treating Native Americans like cattle or locking up Japanese Americans because of their ethnicity. We learned from that. Perhaps we will come back from our government's efforts to keep us safe from terrorists. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  9. I'm sorry if I made it appear that I am advocating anything. I'm not. I'm pointing out that governmental actions are getting pretty outrageous. It tends to piss off some people. There are plenty of sheeple that will do nothing. But some historians suggest that the American Revolution involved roughly 10% of the population. If you pay any attention to the world, there are people getting pissed off and violent in many places. I don't want the US to become one of them. But the government seems to be working against my desires on this issue. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 10. That doesn't seem to be working. Majority rule has become an interesting problem. The majority seem to be poorly informed and willing to trade basic freedoms for promises of safety and prosperity. This might not be new, but it does seem to require an end somewhere, doesn't it? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  11. Seems to me that some of the ultimate, and most direct, tools of governmental tyranny are the means of its police state, i.e., its military, as well as civilian LEOs. In that very context, and with all due respect, Sir, do you not introspect about your own career choices? No doubt. I am also mindful that military is often the means of overthrowing government and starting over. I have no idea how this will play out. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  12. How about the fact that you may have just pinged because you typed a whole set of double ungoodthink words? And seeing that I down time with curious and educated minds, I occasionally look up things they'd frown on. Yeah, I looked up (and found) AQ's Inspire magazine. I read about the Feds loosing a half ton of explosives because they weren't following their own guidelines. I spend time with a few EOD guys that, if not friends, are at least respected associates. I helped a postgrad with his work on encryption and wireless communication, specifically as it relates to intercepting and decoding signals from a ground station to remote vehicles. (Overriding them was specifically not covered, and while not a simple expansion, it's not a huge leap either) I've had interesting conversations with far smarter and more experienced people than me about vulnerabilities of people and places. Even the secret service can only do so much, and nobody else in this hemisphere has that level of protection. Oh, and just for those nameless faceless ones, jihad holy war revenge great satan homeland bombing attack kill murder Americans president target revenge Allahu Ackbar. And FYI there are four or five billion google searches a day. So...your real worry is after you show up on their radar for all that stuff you mentioned....they will decide its criminal behavior and come after you? I for one am not particularly worried about them seeing my forum posts and deciding im really what they are looking for. I can see the argument. It's like when you have that joint on you in the car, and the cop asks to search. "If you have nothing to hide why can't I search?" It sure is nice to say, because the big bad govt. cant look at my stuff without my say so. But since you cannot and will not ever be able to stop electronic surveillance....don't look up kiddy porn, and stop worrying. ETA: Unless you are Gene Hackman in "Enemy Of The State" Will you be available Monday? The guys are going to be by your house to install the surveillance cameras. You don't really have to be there. It's not like they don't know their way around your place by now. After all, you don't have anything to hide, right? What's the old quote about how the person did nothing when they came for the Jews, because he wasn't a Jew? We are on the really bad part of an incredibly slippery slope. I'm reminded of another old quote about the Tree of Liberty and the means of refreshing it. I didn't think it would happen in my lifetime, but this past week's revelations are causing me to wonder. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

    Maubeuge

Finally got to visit after living nearby for eight months. It was really great. Facilities: Clean and spacious. They have three consecutive hangars connected. The paved space in front of the hangars was full of spectators; including children playing. The restrooms were clean and spacious. Plenty of parking. The café next door had plenty of tables and chairs outside with a great view of the DZ. It also had a fenced in play area with a sign that said it was specifically for the children of café customers and skydivers. There was a clearly defined swoop area front and center and a HUGE DZ. No real reason to land out. But if you did, agricultural fields abound, so you are safe. The runway is on the opposite side of the DZ, so they ferry you over with a van that has custom benches built in. Organization: There are television screens on the walls that are constantly scrolling through the future loads, who is on them, time remaining, height each jumper is going to, and which plane the load is on. When your load is up, your name is showing and the time indicated is "NOW". Get on the van and go. They issue you a card the size of a credit card when you register. It has your name and a barcode. When you are ready to jump, you drop it in the "in" box at the front desk. They scan you in and your name starts showing up on the screens when your load is displayed. Your card goes in the "out" box for you to retrieve when you want it. If you are jumping with a group, you rubberband everyone's cards together and throw them in the box like that. They had a large board listing their instructors, management, camera people, and such. Each had a picture of the person so you knew who to go to with questions. Andre is the Administrative Manager. He's mostly bald with a huge beard and glasses. Very helpful. Speaks great English. Richard was the safety who briefed me. Also spoke great English. Very helpful and thorough. Equipment: They have a Pilatus and a Caravan. Both appear to be in excellent condition. Rental gear was plentiful and in excellent condition. Services: Everyone was helpful and friendly. There were enough English speakers that it wasn't a problem. The safety brief was very efficient. The packers were quick and friendly. The café was reasonably priced and the food was good. Having a play place for kids was really nice. The family atmosphere was pretty cool. There were lots of tents, RVs, and trailers behind the hangars. It appeared clean and neat. The airfield was reasonably busy, but all recreational stuff. I counted five sail planes active near the runway. There were a few powered paragliders in one corner of the DZ. Three antique US Army Jeeps came in to visit at the cafe. There was an antique Porsche roadster as well. There were photographers and plain old spectators. At least four motorcycles were parked in the lot. It was truly an outstanding operation in every way. I look forward to my next visit.
  14. So nobody has suggested the invasions we are engaged in are illegal to the Inspector General? War requires congressional approval and a declaration of war. There has not been one of those this century has there? Ummm...you asked if I had evidence. I made it clear that said evidence is plentiful. You changed subjects. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  15. Do you lift weights at the gym? I've been known to. Do you do bicep curls in the squat rack? If you do, why? It depends on what is available. Most squat racks have safety bars that make a fine place to place the olympic bar so that I don't have to bend over to the floor to pick it up. Also, when it is on the floor, I have to bend over to pick the end up to change the weights. Being on a squat rack solves that. I've been known to use a bench press for the same reason and put up with straddling the bench while curling...because nothing else is available. The rack of barbells that you refer to is fine if I am doing high reps. But when I get to the 4-6 rep range, I'm using as much as 155#. I've never been to a gym that has that much in a ready-made barbell. I mis-use other equipment also. I work obliques on the hyper-extension machine. I do skull crushers on the bench press turned 180 degrees to the standard direction. I do Romanian deadlifts standing on a bench so I don't have to pick the bar off the floor. Etc. I don't begrudge other people using the equipment any way they like. If the same guy was doing squats, I presume you wouldn't have minded. Now, you mention the guy was doing some kind of circuit. That actually does annoy me if the gym is busy. Tying up multiple pieces of equipment violates gym protocol where I've been. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  16. Can you provide evidence that this protocol has actually help any situation, ever? Lots! The first one that jumps to mind involves LTG Patrick O'Reilly. An anonymous complaint to the Inspector General's office resulted in an investigation (mandatory), headlines in Army publications, and his removal from service. All because he was a horse's rear-end. Please google the name. If you were closer to the military, you would know that anonymous calls to the Inspector General or Criminal Investigations Division regularly result in prosecutions, relief from duty, and other punishments...especially for senior personnel. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  17. Thanks, Jerry. My first reaction was, "What's the big deal?" Scalia, however, set me straight. An outstanding, articulate, well reasoned dissent. And I like the dickish nature when he is defending the individual from the government. Harking back to the Founding Fathers doesn't hurt, either. Bad decision by the SCOTUS. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  18. Given the number of documents, it is highly unlikely he read everything he released. That would make his actions reckless at a minimum. To call him a whistleblower is going in the opposite direction from reckless. He also ignored all legitimate means of redress for any perceived wrongs. There are actually anonymous ways for people in government and military to report problems. He ignored those. It seems he was going for attention. He wanted to do something sensational. The reasons are questionable. The results are known. He got his sensation and attention. Hope it was worth it. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  19. You can't deny that we need some common sense rules regarding pop-tart ownership. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  20. Yes, co-workers and/or "clients." According to all of the reports I was able to find, he avoided the civilian co-workers and clients. Reportedly, he came across five civilians cowering at close range and he avoided them. He was targeting military. That's the point. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  21. Did it have a bayonet lug? Flash suppressor? Collapsible stock? Oh, the shame! I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  22. I absolutely agree that targeting military does not make it terrorism. I was just pointing out that he had a specific group that he was targeting. That group was consitent with a Muslim philosophy that military are oppressing Muslims. Therefore...the agenda. Like I said in the beginning...this targeting of a specific group is the reason I can't see this as frustration with work, random violence, etc. If he had just killed people randomly, I would not see this as terrorism. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Saturday night on the south side of Birmingham...oh no...she was female. Alright, almost Saturday night on the south side of Birmingham. 24. All the fuss over pressure cookers reminds me of the ban on trench coats following Columbine. People get fixated on the tools of the problem and ignore the problem. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  25. I'm not quoting to keep this post from getting too long. Sorry. Well, you can certainly disagree with the definition. The definition of terrorism is always being debated. But I've always thought definitions of such things were meant to be taken literally. You are the second person to suggest it can not be terrorism because he targeted Soldiers. That is contrary to the definition I used, but ok. What about Beirut, USS Cole, US Soldiers killed in plane bombings, or even the recent UK attack on a Soldier by two Muslims who stated their social agenda on camera afterwards? I think you are suggesting those can't be terrorists. I'm fine with that. But I think it makes them undeclared combatants in an undeclared war and subject to prosecution for war crimes. Not entirely sure. It also suggests Soldiers are engaged in a war with Muslims or at least vice versa. I think his objective is made clear by his emails, statements, and actions. Yelling 'Allahu Akhbar' as he began his attack is a unique characteristic of those conducting attacks on behalf of radical Islam around the world. But, of course, it is debatable. It took days for people to call the pressure cooker test at the end of the Boston Marathon "terrorism". I don't think they've told us their reasons yet, either. But people have now accepted it as terrorism. Why? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
