Let's have a moment of silence to remember Squeak's family

Looks like you have a hobby. A rather sick, disgusting hobby...but a hobby. Whatever you do, don't click on the two girls and a cup link. I didn't know what it was years ago and clicked on one. Time can never erase some things. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course. -
M.C. Hammer took his name from Concrete Rebound Hammer. His smash hit 'Hammer Time' was intended to be a love song to his idol, Concrete Rebound Hammer. Agreed. I don't understand how a single payer system prevents abuse of the system. Some people run to the doctor for every little thing. It clogs things up. I would prefer that it kick in for emergencies and more serious conditions. I'm also in favor of a flat tax to fund this coverage. The current system is ridiculous. Only D.C. could have come up with this fiasco...and monkeys. But the monkeys would have recognized that it was just a big joke. When you disagree with the president or his staff you are racist
davjohns replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
I keep seeing the title of this thread and it reminds me of something. I'll finally share it. We are all racist. It is part of the human condition. I was taught it in college. It made sense then. I still see it today. I'm not sure why it isn't still taught. Psychologists long ago identified this condition as ethnocentrism. People just want to feel whatever group they are a part of is better than other groups. They then seek facts to support this feeling and reject facts that disagree with it. It doesn't matter if it is race, religion, gender, football team, culture, nationality, species, employers, departments within a company... We see it everywhere and fail to notice it. After the recent Alabama / Auburn football game, I saw posts on Facebook complaining about what bad sports / bad people Auburn fans were after they won. In previous years, Auburn fans claimed Alabama fans were poor sports / bad people. My own father claims Auburn fans are without class and ruffians at heart. (He graduated from UA). The fan base of both teams are from the same state, cross ALL socio-economic strata, and are absolutely undistinguishable from each other. It is logically impossible that the claims of superior character by either side are supportable. I recognize this condition in myself. It's generally considered bad to admit it, but I do. My first reaction to people who are different from me is usually negative. I have to remind myself that this is an emotional reaction that is not based on fact. I remind myself that things can be different without one being better than the other. Then, I can enjoy the differences. The first step of problem solving is identifying the problem. People who think they are without this condition have failed to recognize the problem in themselves. That's why I find it interesting when one person calls another person racist. We are all racists to some degree or another. Even if you reverse polarity (so to speak) and start villifying your own group, you are still acting on those same human emotions. You are still attributing personal characteristics to someone based on skin color, religion, gender, etc. I had a friend who was caucasian and married to a black woman. He once told me he didn't need EO training because of who he was married to. His contention was that he could not be racist because he was married to a black woman. He clearly didn't get it. Wizard's First Rule. Something to think about. I'm not trying to berate anyone. I am first among fools. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course. -

That's a Moo Latte from Dunkin Donuts. Speaking of which, would a "chocolate donut hole" be both racist and homophobic? I doubt witchcraft would get such a response in Africa. Many of the religious practices that originated there look just like witchcraft. Some of those practices are intermixed with later religious systems such as Christianity. I'm sure the people there are pretty used to chickens being bled, bones tossed, and blood drank at religious services. Oh... Bedevere: How do you know she is a witch? Peasant: She looks like one. [Crowd indistinctly shouts] Bedevere: Bring her forward! Girl: I'm not a witch. Bedevere: But you are dressed as one... Girl: They dressed me up like this. [Crowd murmurs] Girl: And this isn't my nose. This is a false one. Bedevere: [inspects the nose and confirms] Well? Peasant: Well, we did do the nose. Bedevere: The nose? Peasant: And the hat. She's a witch! Peasant Crowd: Burn her! Bedevere: Did you dress her up like this? Peasant Crowd: No, no, no! [beat] Yes, yes. A bit. But she's got a wart. I competely agree. I almost added 'why', but thought it would be subsumed in the 'how'. To the OP: I was advised in the Police Academy to never fire at tires. It just doesn't work like they show it on TV. The instructor was an amazingly experienced and grounded veteran. I just took his advice on face value. He also pointed out that shooting from a moving vehicle at a moving vehicle involves physics that make it nearly impossible to hit what you aim at and incredibly dangerous. I don't know about the policies of the NM department, but my experience indicates that this officer acted unreasonably and should have been fired quicker. BTW - I've also shot padlocks like they show on TV (I did it in a controlled environment). Those things are amazingly tough. Don't bother. Just whack the clasp the lock is holding or kick in the silly wooden door. Those things give easily. The lock will still be locked long after you are dead unless you have bolt cutters or the key. Unarmed Man Is Charged With Wounding Bystanders Shot by Police

PSA - It has been some time since I was last pulled over. The tag on my Jeep had fallen down and wasn't readily visible. (YJ Wranglers had tags that folded down to reveal the cas cap). I rolled down my tinted window, turned on the interior light, and placed my hands on the wheel in plain view. This was to help the officer see what was going on in the vehicle and that there was no threat. When he reached my window, I explained that my license was in my portfolio along with a pistol. That was why I had not gone after it as yet. He thanked me and told me to go ahead and pull it out. We had a brief, polite conversation and went our separate ways. Keep in mind that in any situation, most police are trying to make sure they go home alive. They have a secondary concern about everyone else going home alive. Keep this in mind and act accordingly. Making a person with a badge and a gun nervous is not a good idea. For all you know, this is his/her first day on the job. My first felony stop (police jargon for a full blown takedown of a suspect vehicle), I remember being cold all out of proportion to the weather and I was so tense I don't think I could turn my head for an hour afterwards. I hate to think what would have happened if I wasn't following my training officer's lead and the stop went badly. I am NOT making excuses for the police in this story. I am inclined to say they need to be off the streets. I just recognize that I don't have all of the facts and the media is terribly misleading. As to the DA...they tend to be elected. They do things to appease voter emotional reactions. That always goes well, doesn't it? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course. -

Whether it started out as urban legend or not, it is clearly real now. People are being arrested for assaults and stating that they were playing this game. Therefore, it is now real. You can debate how wide-spread the 'game' is, but not the existance. Once someone articulated the rules and another person 'played', it was real. It is a natural trait of most American males. We are able to turn most any subject into a fight or sex. Or a fight over sex. Argument is the internet version of a fight. So, we are able to turn most any subject into an argument or sex. Or an argument over sex. Now, show us your breasts (or Karen's) and we will argue over them. See? We could do this in our sleep. The Shomrim-(religious Police) and the lack of media coverage.

I'm not seeing the problem. They are participating in a neighborhood watch program. They hold people for the police. I don't see anything suggesting that are enforcing religious ideals. The cited wiki article says they have been cited for excessive violence and accused of hiding evidence. Another article in here says a guy who was masturbating in front of children was detained, may have been physically assaulted, shot four people, and he seems to be a hero? If the religious part is omitted from this post, I don't think there would be much to complain about. If muslims were organizing neighborhood watches and only assisting law enforcement, I would be fine with it. In Alabama, anyone having actual knowledge of the crime can make an arrest. It's commonly called a 'Citizen's Arrest'. According to the article, this is not the law in NY. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Your false equivalency is . . . false. If I pay you to mow my lawn, do I have the right to prevent you from buying a gun with the money? Irrelevant. More along the lines that even though you are mandated to supply me with guns, your beliefs are that you won't provide the bullets, rather if I want bullets I can go get them on my own. I have an idea... because we are having trouble understanding each other in a discussion regarding medical insurance and contraceptives, we can draw parallels in the less controversial gun ownership discussion to help find a common ground. /eta: alternative response... I think it's more akin to him telling you to buy your own clips. Ah, hell yeah! I think my company will provide employees with firearms and ammunition as part of their compensation package! One long arm and one handgun after the probationary period. Then, a monthly allocation of ammunition for each to stay proficient. A group range membership in place of a gym membership. I love it! ETA: Low capacity mags violate my beliefs. They are not covered. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Pay as you go is common here in Europe. I don't use it for data when I'm out of wifi range. Incoming calls are free. I don't make many calls. It still serves as music device, calendar, GPS, etc. I can sign into wifi when I stop for something to drink. I think there are pay as you go plans in the US. When I had a BB, they insisted on a $30 monthly data fee in addition to my usage plan. That's why I got rid of the BB. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. So - you are saying vinyl . . because it is more durable? Good to know. Is there an embossed pattern? Nooooo..... it isn't to imply this, that or the other. I'd never discuss my privates. Lino get brittle with age and cracks Not if you take proper care of it. So what do you do to keep your lino supple and bunny free? By hand, of course. How else do you explain the cherry? Unarmed Man Is Charged With Wounding Bystanders Shot by Police
davjohns replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
Of course it's situational - but: 1 - "I don't completely agree with it" Cops are under no obligation to wait until they get shot before returning fire. They 'should' get the safety margin and benefit of protecting themselves. I don't see a disagreement, this isn't the movies and a quick draw scene. There is a point where that 'threatening move' reaches a point of no return where the suspects action, if it would be a real threat of injury or death, will be beyond a safe response. The cop must fire. Sometimes, this occurs before the intent of a stupid move can be clearly known. 2 - "If you get a nervous cop pointing a gun at a suspect" - Just because they fire at someone making a potentially life threatening move, doesn't mean the the cop is nervous. He might be....but, he might also be in complete control and making a very clear and rational decision in that particular scenario. I'd rather have rational and calm cops that are ready and capable of taking immediate action to protect themselves and others RATHER than overly sensitive types that tie themselves into emotional, indecisive knots trying to relate to any nuances that are hard to decipher after the fact, let alone at the time. Hold still, do what they say at the time. IF they abuse their position, there will time to deal with that legally and later, while still alive. This post is a digression from the thread, just thoughts on Joe's couple of comments. I see those flavor of comments a lot. As I said, I'll give the cops the benefit of the doubt since I was not there. However, I have been there. I would not have fired until I saw a weapon. I've actually held my fire even after a weapon was presented. Two people walked away from bad situations because I knew I was good enough that I had time to talk them down. Most police are not. That's why I'm giving these guys a break. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
