  1. it sounds to me that yahoo aproaches his skydiving as he does his packing , if this is the case then he needs an attitude adjustment - this is serious stuff - i know people like yahoo and think they need to be sat down and talked to - there are people i won't jump with because they don't listen to things that are safety related or just don't care that 20 other people paid good money for a jump and they screwed it up and there answer when confronted is owell - i really perfer jumping with people with less skills and more focus on learning and safety
  2. if the bridle gets stuck under the closing loop or gets tucked between the bag and container or if someone puts in a larger chute than the container should have in it all these and also who is packing ? never know what they will do
  3. it is all in how someone percieves your actions and since everbody sees things in there own way i guess everyone would have a different idea of what is and what isn't a slut so i guess it would be how you feel about it and fuck the rest of the world
  4. if the bridle gets hung up because it is tucked in around the bag the pin won't pull - hold the bridle under the flap and you will see it is hard to pull the pin now pinch the velcro and hold the bridle just above the pinch and you will see how easy the pin pulls
  5. i would only worry about the ticket if the states work together - not all states work together therefore it may not even show on your states record as points against you - the last i heard that texas and illinois did not exchange info so you could get a dui in ill and loose your license and move to texas and get a tesas license also if you got a ticket in wisconsin and didn't pay it they would have your illinois license suspended - you should find out if your state and the one you got a ticket in exchange information and how it will effect you
  6. i remember reading a definition somewere that a slut is a permiscuous female - so i guess that would only leave the girls to be called sluts - i don't believe girls are sluts unless they act like it - numbers don't count only actions
  7. just think of the fun watching everyone get falling over stupid on your beer
  8. this is not picking it is understanding your gear - i am not a rigger and have alot to learn myself - i own a racer that is why i am reading this thread - i have had a couple riggers that have spent alot of time with me and my rig - you should do the same - remember that it is your life and you should learn all you can about not only your gear but other peoples gear that you may be asked to check before exit - also if you don't know something find out before checking someone elses rig or jumping your own
  9. mine is a standard racer made in 1998 - i don't know about the newer racer's but all the ones that i saw back when i got mine had the velcro pinch on the bridle - now racer had an issue about that time with bridles that were to short and not getting out of the burble enough to get full pull on the pin and they made the bridles longer maybe they changed the design at that time also
  10. is the ring you are talking about the one that attaches to the kill line - if it is that is what colapses the pilot chute - with that missing it won't colapse but shouldn't prevent it from operating normally
  11. sorry but i was on my gf's (quadit) computer when i responded - slack above the pin is what i am talking about - i have a racer and my bridle has the hook and latch of the velcro both on the bridle instead of one on the container and one on the briddle - most people do not know what this is for - it is to keep the bridle from preventing the pin from pulling out - on most containers people think the velcro is for routing the bridle so they use it as such - on racers the bridle is routed under the top flap and the pin comes up to the closing loop - the briddle needs to be pinched at the velcro and tucked under the top or side flap - without doing this ( depending on how tight the pack is ) may result in pilot chute hessitations or even a pilot chute in tow malfunction - this is why i am very carefull about who packs my rig - unless someone works with racers and knows this they usually don't pinch the veclcro on the bridle - i have had a couple riggers not know what this is for on the racer and gave me a pilot chut in tow that i had to pull the pin - not fun leaving a big way and having to pull the pin after tracking to 2000 feet
  12. i like the tandem progression because of the 1 on 1 while under canopy - by the end of the tandems you'll have a better understanding about canopy control and landing
  13. the problem is if the plane is going to stall the last thing you want is everybody in the plane running for the back door - take 20 people in an otter all sitting in the plane with the heavy guys buy the door and you are about 2000 feet in a clime and one engine fails - even if the cg is aft the pilot still has a chance but if all 20 people head to the door to get out the weight of the front people goes aft and causes the stall to get worse by making the nose lighter - if the pilot says to get out you get out one at atime and the people near the pilot don't move to the back until it is their turn - it is always beter to have the tail get lighter than heavier - as long as the pilot can keep the nose down you have a chance once the nose goes up with no power it is all over and the plane will stall
  14. ive been on 1 otter stall on exit on a 22 way - 22 ready to exit just waiting for the count and the otter stalled and dropped to the left this pinned me and the 3 behind me to the back wall and ceiling until the plane recovered which was only a few seconds we still got out and finished the dive - but this made me think about how i couldn't move until the plane recovered - my left shoulder was in the upper back corner of the door, my head was against the bar bent to my right shoulder, and my right hand was out the door and i couldn't get out - i can't even imagine what it would be like in a full stall with the plane falling backwards and into the people that let go on the outside or what i have heard from others about stalls they have been in - a couple freinds experienced a casa stall that pinned a few to the ceiling from exit to 4000 feet - they had bumps bruises and broken bones - i'm very sorry to hear about those in washington and i hope for the best for the freinds and family's but the attitude of the caravan would have made it impossible to get out even if they were ready to jump and the door was open imho - imagine 9 jumpers in gear pinned to the back wall then ad seats and a full door the ones closest to the door wouldn't be able to move or get to the door to open it - the best defense for this situation is to not be in it - always question the pilot, dzo, and mechanics about everthing watch what they do and learn about planes may save your life or someone elses -
  15. i am not a dzo or a currant instructor - i do have 600 tandems and 2400 jumps and have seen many different training methods - the things that i feel a student needs to focus on are stable body position, altitude awareness and canopy control because theese skills are manditory to be safe - whatever program you choose make sure they work alot on those areas and ask alot of questions about this - question your instructors and understand the answers from them
  16. sounds to me that most men like it long and the chicks like short - so girls if you want to impress a guy keep it long - if you want to impress the girls cut it - i say keep it long and let us enjoy it
  17. i won't jump at asc or support them - i just know who owns that otter and know that it is well maintained
  18. the bottom line is that if minumums would have been followed and this wasn't a health issue and was a ws issue race would still be alive - i firmly believe that all students and newer jumpers need to be slowed just like i was when i started jumping - not discouraged slowed and these minumums help with that - i never understood most of the resons nor did i like them but slowing me down was needed and apreciated - kept me alive
  19. the otter is owned by andre wiess and is maintained well in his hanger in illinois - so no problems with the plane only the owner of asc - this otter is flown at asc
  20. sorry to but in her turtle but this chick is getting less high maintenance all the time - also i vote for photo or video to help us understand this better
  21. you and a few like you are still around but the attitude is changing to give me money and then you'll get trained - after spending 5 to 7 grand for aff and gear now they want another 70-100 bucks a jump for coaching - just seems we would have alot lot better retention if people could afford to jump - i know 2 people that stopped jumping because of this situation in the last year - they get through aff then buy gear then expensive coach jumps then the used gear they bought "isn't safe" because it is older and they just get frustrated and quit because they spent every dollar they have over a 1 - 2 year period and everyone still wants more money for everything - you must get caoching and modern gear and tunnel time or the newer coaches and dzo's drop you and move to the next guy with a dollar in their pocket - what ever happened to lets take the new guy and have some fun and we'll teach them along the way ?
  22. coach jumps from aff to a lic seem to be more more about training than having fun - i have seen alot of aff grads quit because they found more fun things to do lately - keep the student happy and they will get better in time
  23. i was taught safety and fun from the first jump - the fun seems to have been dropped from the training program - who cares if the student can do 15 points at 20 jumps - they will be around alot longer if they are having fun - safety and fun let the precision come later - lets just get them in the air with a smile on thier face and land safetly - we can teach them how to turn points after they are hooked on the sport - the retention after aff is horrible because it is large amounts of expensive coach jumps with no fun - i like the training for the caoch rating but i think the coach jumps should cost no more than the slots - if you want to make money become an instructor otherwise teach safety and fun for free - jmo
  24. or maybe the push the student through attitude is why there are no tips - the tips i got were when you would train dress jump and debrief the student - never got one on back to backs - i always refused to do back to backs because it robs the student of the debrief wich sets them up for their next jump - maybe if these instructors would spend a little quality time with the student they would see more tipping
  25. my water traing was discused over beer - so i did get a little wet
