  1. Yeah, doesn't hurt at all. Good luck with the rest of your license, let me know if you need some help, if I can't help, I can probably point you in the right direction.
  2. My experience is that peer pressure isn't even being used. Especially when you hear that certain people "have a pass" at some dropzones and in almost every instance of a canopy collision involving a swooper, it's not admitted but clear from the arguments, discussions and incident reports that in fact, people aren't using separate landing areas. One of the reasons I get frustrated with people constantly banging the same drum. "It isn't working now" - I'd counter with "that's because we're not trying". As for separate discipline - the problem you have there is that you're going to be asking many of the people who aren't quite professional to give up one for the other. So of course you're going to get push back from people. It's not as though someone magically becomes a pro swooper. We all need to start somewhere so, in a world where someone has to change dropzones in order to swoop, they're giving up their friends and the ability to fly with certain people. I personally think, if swooping were called a separate discipline with separate DZs, you'd basically cut dropzones and dropzone communities in half. You'd find a lot of people would just move the the swoop dropzone to jump with the people who were there. Effectively what you're suggesting is that the DZO chooses to allow swooping or not, we kinda have that already.
  3. Congratulations! Sounds like you had a great time which is totally awesome. I'll see you around the Ranch some time.
  4. Great, that's the info I was looking for. Thanks! I'd love to get these planes out our way, they've been out here before and I'd love to go. I'd pay $450 just ride in them, jumping from them would just be gravy!
  5. Who's organizing this? I've been trying to figure out what would be required to get these amazing planes out to my DZ.
  6. If you're tripping over an RFID, you've got more serious problems to worry about. I occurred to me that electronically recording the rigger's information with the PDC would be a good way to do this but then I started thinking with my IT geek's hat on and it just got really complicated.
  7. Having a prehensile tail would be totally awesome!
  8. How about an RFID in the PDC that the Rigger programs with date of expiry? Yeah people could hack it but if you had say an encryption key for each rigger and an public... ok, I'll stop now...
  9. Yeah, that's what I have on order then. Not sure why they call it a "party bag" that just sounds silly IMO but whatever. Hoping it'll get here pretty soon so that I can start using it.
  10. Kinda the same way some may think having an ROL or spring-loaded PC or a 7 cell main may look silly ? Objectivity helps... I was being objective. Sparky I wear them all the time when I'm not going totally bear foot and I think sparky is hilarious. Relax mate, he's clearly expressing avpersonal opinion.
  11. Um, to be honest, I saw some marketing guff about "party" whatever but I don't really know what that is. I ordered a stoic (
  12. Good question, I'm not sure I've seen an opinion from PD on stowless bags. Of course, stowless is somewhat of a misnomer. In my experience, PD has been awesome at answering questions via email, might be worth asking if you're interested. I just ordered a "stowless" bag for my Infinity FWIW.
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Nsca5add8g - PD's take on locking stows and rubber band usage. I switched all my rubber bands to large and double wrapped on the weekend. I used to have large only on the locking stows and would single wrap them and then single wrap all the others which were small. I definitely felt the difference as the lines were released from the stows. It was noticeably slower. Inflation was obviously not affected.
  14. This disregard for safety will not serve you well in skydiving. Adjust that attitude before going to the DZ, or you're going to have a tough time being the 'new guy' at the DZ. The more experienced jumpers out there don't suffer fools lightly. Won't serve him well on a motorcycle either.
  15. I couldn't get in-air documentation of my training jumps. There was nobody around willing to jump with a hammer, a chisel and a big block of stone. Tools?? You had TOOLS!!?? This is really damn funny.
  16. This year I've already explained twice why people need to leave slack after discovering super tight bridle on a pin check. Don't get me wrong, I love magnets and had a fun conversation with Kelly about putting magnets on everything on the infinity (much like the Basik Advance Seven does) but without being serious. Personally I make sure there's slack anyway so I don't really need the helper.
  17. As I understand it, it's there to make sure people leave a reasonable amount of slack in their bridle. There have been several instances of people's containers being locked closed that have been attributed to overly tight bridles. I'm not sure what other solution there is that isn't just relying on people doing it right (like my Infinity).
  18. If the agreed pattern is spiraling down, is it still spiraling through the pattern? Another fun video, thanks.
  19. Congratulations! Onward and upward... and then downward but that's the fun bit anyway.
  20. Cool video. The planes you went out of were awesome, shame you got rained on though. Loved the fly by at the end; A10, two P38s what was at the front?
  21. I like this idea but how do you think we could implement this? (not a rhetorical question
  22. It was an interesting idea and it's great that you are trying to think of solutions. I think that in this case it won't work for the reasons stated above. For me, the primary one is that everyone in the same group would end up on the same level. In that instance, you potentially have a bigger issue that we do now. Not to mention that you're then arbitrarily controlling who jumps with who. I think it'd be a terrible shame to see experienced jumpers avoid jumping with newer jumpers because they couldn't work out the wingloading without spending money. I'm doing 2 45s because I'm hardcore!
