  1. For me, it was doing a backloop... For some reason it took me forever nailing it. Sometimes I was too slow and going around every axis my body could find, or too fast making 2 backloops in one, or didn't come out stable enough, or, when I thought it was pretty good, it wasn't observed.... Some other tasks took me 2-3 jumps, but most of it was 1-2. I think that our dutch way of going for your A licence differs from the US way. (btw, I was static line trained) No problems with accuracy and flying pattern here... LOL. Illona Don't try to live forever, you will not succeed!
  2. I have three dogs. Only one of them is allowed to come with me to the DZ, the others stay at home. Reason? The oldest one will bark at me whenever I'm too far away for her. Though she is very polite and well behaved to people and listens to others as well as myself, I just don't want her to bark all day. It will annoy not only myself but others as well. The middle one, Jack Russel, is a sweet thing and doesn't bark. But he doesn't listen that well. The youngest, Australian Shepherd, listens very well, doesn't bark, en is nice to everyone who might want to approach him. Whenever he comes with me, I make sure he is either outside on a leash, or if inside, on the side of the packing area, on a leash as well. It is my dog, so I have to make sure that he doesn't bother anyone, he doesn't stand in the way, and most of all, doesn't walk in the packing area. Our DZ is not at the airfield but a small ride away, when he's there, (when I'm photographing) he's on a pin in the ground at the outside of the DZ. He owns a real "dropzone dog collar" and is a well accepted dog at my home DZ. However, I wouldn't just bring him to any other DZ unless I was sure dogs were welcome. If not, that is a rule I have and will accept. A jumping buddy also has a dog who comes frequently, and she is also accepted at the DZ by all jumpers. My home DZ is in the Netherlands btw. Not sure about other DZ's here. And I asked the staff before I brought him. Now he's like a mascotte. I've attached a pic of my three dogs and one of the youngest with his collar. Has a 3-ring release and pillow... LOL Anyway, to make a long story short, I love to bring my dog, but won't do so if a DZ doen't want me to. I make sure he doesn't go places he shouldn't, and walk him to a place where there is room for him to do whatever he needs to do without people stepping in it. That is my responsibility. It is my dog. (O and they all get flee/tick treatment....
  3. Sounds familiar... LOL. Though I am static-line trained, and thought to PLF, I also landed on my butt the first time. When I flared, thought I wasn't going that fast. But I flared way high so I only had a vertical movement at landing point. Still thought, wow this goes well, I'll land on my feet! And by thinking that I landed on my feet.... but at such a speed that my knees gave way and my butt was the next thing to touch the ground. Think I've sunk the DZ about a meter or so.... Wow did that hurt !! THat same day I made my second jump, although I could still feel the pain. It's been six months and sometimes I still feel my butt!! Didn't keep me from jumping though... Good luck on your next jumps, and don't forget that PLF... (never forgot after that first jump, and as from jump #18 no more PLF, just stand-up landing for me... 4. Mmm.. if you are still considered a kid, then what am I haha. Anyway, at my DZ there is this man who started jumping at age 50. Now he is 76 and still jumping every saturday! Ok, he doesn't go high and usually does a hop & pop, but gee I admire that guy! Hope to be jumping when I reach that age... Greetz from Holland. Don't try to live forever, you will not succeed!

  7. Thanks for the tips :) Right now I am wearing an undersuit wich I normally use in summer under my drysuit for scuba diving. But think it's too cold in the winter. I also hope to have my "official' jumping overall in a few weeks... LOL. My highest jump has been a 10 sec freefall from 6500 ft, so I was open at about 5300... Had a long time for canopy practice LOL. Longest freefall up till now 22 sec.... WOW !! Hope to start on my turns during FF this weekend! Where are you jumping Baksteen? 9. Welcome here :) Your kids are lucky with their dad being a skydiver... COol that they are in to it as well! My mom is scared out of her mind everytime she knows that I will be jumping. She doesn't understand why I love it so much... she is afraid of hights.... LOL. (my brother doesn't understand either though, and doesn't even want to do a tandem....) Hope to see some pics of your family 4-way some time.. Don't try to live forever, you will not succeed!

My boyfriend gave me a tandem for my b-day which got me to want to jump for myself... thought he would regret his present because of that.... LOL. (he doesnt regret it though!!!) 11. Didn't know that yet... thanks for te tip... LOL. I hope when I have my A license and own gear that I will be able to visit some other DZ's than my home DZ. Belgium is a nice one to remember... LOL. Don't try to live forever, you will not succeed!
  12. Can't wait to take that jump! Not sure when I'm 'allowed" to go up that high though. On my list for my A licence the highest is 6000ft... And now with winter coming guess here in the Netherlands it's too cold to go up there during winter.... How is jumping in Belgium? Not that far a drive for a short visit sometime... LOL Don't try to live forever, you will not succeed!
