As said in the linked posts the UK blood service won't take blood if you skydive, while I could ignore their advice I'm sure they know a lot more about it than me. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

I gave up giving blood when I started skydiving and realised that the two don't go together, being at altitude with a pint of blood missing can accelerate problems with hypoxia. See the linked discussion: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=42065;search_string=giving%20blood;#42065 Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

If you'd have taken the time to read my whole post you'd have seen that I was refering to UK as I'm from the UK, I don't have the right to say how you should to control things just as you shouldn't have the right to say how things are over here. I'm in the UK and since we've not had a shooting in a school for quite some time and in general shooting are pretty rare I feel totally safe without a gun. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

No it's a culture of not having guns because in the 21st century we don't need guns. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

Does this then include those that supported and glorified the IRA? Where does the fact that a convicted IRA bomber was chosen to lead a St Patricks day parade in New York state fit into this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=%2Fnews%2F2002%2F03%2F14%2Fwpat14.xml At least some people had the balls to stand against this. How about your senator who supported the IRA and it's political wing Sinn Fien: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_T._King Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

It's why London has been known for having so much rubbish around (in particular the underground), all rubbish bins in the streets and the underground were removed as they were seen as a prime place for the IRA to plant a bomb. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

Ok then, lets change it to "Perhaps the muslims are just taking the lead set by some the US when they supported the IRA." Still dosn't excuse the fact that a terrorist group that killed innocent people was supported (partially funded) by sections of America. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

Thats why I said , I wasn't sure where they were located (and don't really care). I just wanted to make sure that Sangiro wasn't going to fall foul of the law. Only trying to protect the interests of others, maybe I should bother in the future and let people break the law and suffer the consequences... Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

No I just feel that if there is a law in place it should be abided by, however through the correct peocess it can be changed (that is the relevant democratic process). So does this means that it's ok for you to break any law that you don't like? I'm perfectly happy over this side of the pond thankyou very much, in fact I prefer it this side. This has nothing to do with keeping the information away from the public for political reasons or for preventing freedom of speech, it's to prevent the release of evidence in a criminal case (at the time of that case) prejudicing the outcome of said case. As a rule when a cournt case such as this is over all the information is made available if people want to get it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Moderators, you may wish to do something about this.. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh, my, you are well-conditioned, aren't you? No all I'm trying to do it limit any opportunity for the owner and users of this website from being open to prosecution under UK law. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

They are for real http://www.thetoy.co.uk/ Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

This is nothing to do with censorship for political reasons, the reason for blocking access to the site from the UK is to prevent the information getting into the public domain as there is a court case currently underway, in fact you'll see that in the text that you have quoted. Anybody who releases this information in the UK is open for proseciution for contempt of court therefore if the servers for this site are based in the UK this site and you can theoretically be found in contempt by showing the information you have copied. Moderators, you may wish to do something about this.. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

A good site for things like this is http://www.businessballs.com/, is UK centric but should apply. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

It's almost time....World Meet 2006, who's it gonna be?
Nick replied to GQ_jumper's topic in Relative Work
They've finished the selection rounds (early) and are moving on to the semi-finals nowhttp://www.fai.org/parachuting/ they are going to use the draws for rounds 9 & 10. Looks like there is some doubt as to whether they'll get these done. Go AirKix Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW! -
Like a lot of smaller planes some of the exits can be done ok, some can be done using some tricks and a lot of grip switching, some are almost impossible to launch complete. Things to watch out for are the rear top corner of the door as this can prevent Tail and IC taking grips, and the height of the wing and location of the wheel strut stopping OC getting out enough to present to the relative wind. A good fun one to try is Mono-Mono, tail climbs out and hangs low, OC climbs out, Point climbs over OCs knees and leans on the engine cowling, IC kneels in the door, all take grips and exit pulling Point down with you. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

But it could be asked, if your getting a low average (sub 5) can you say that you really know how to exit (considering that up until now there were only 4 exits in rookie class) or are you really able to fly relative for the whole of the skydive (after all flying relative it what RW is all about)? Surely your better off setting a strong foundation to build upon rather than moving up as quickely as possible. It's got to be said that there is much to be discussed on this point and no one person will come up with the answer, the BPA tried with the jump number limits but the tunnels put paid to that. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
-
Think what we're seeing here is the effect of the tunnel. If you looked at 100%'s average from last year they were running at 5.8 through the season which put them in the middle of the table, from what I understand they've done tunnel time since then which has improved their average dramatically. It's difficult at the start of the seaon to decide which class you want to compete in and what your going to build your training plan around (consider if one year you had a 5.8 ave, would you say that your good enough to move up 2 classes the next year before you started your training). Obviously there are a number of changes where the jump number limits have been removed for all classes which leave it up to the competitors to decide where they fit, there has also been the (effectively) split of the the intermediate class into A and AA. I'm sure it's going to take a little time for things to bed down, but once it has it'll be a more realistic system. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

This makes interesting reading: http://www.globalpolicy.org/.../1002resolutions.pdf I found resolution 487 (1981) quite amusing. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

As far as Weston is concerned it's restricted in a couple of ways: 1. it's military airspace, 2. it's a dropzone. Not sure on the technicalities but as soon as the DZ is activated it's a no go area for GA, therefore in this case (and with most of the rest of the UK) it is our airspace. Nick Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

There also ok people (although flying a plane without an engine is pretty odd), have spent a few nights drinking with some of them. Think one of the issues in the UK (and elsewhere) is that you get stupid pilots just follow roads, rivers, railway lines etc. without looking at their charts and end up flying through restricted airspace. Think however that Weston dosn't get that much due to it's RAF status, would love to see the face of a bandit when he gets a C130 fly past. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

One I heard recently was "gunt" for a fat minger, it's the cross between the gut and the c*&t. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

Normally the gliders at Weston are very good and have to get an ok for every lauch from DZ control, once launched they move right away from the DZ to do their thing. Despite being marked as a danger area (or whatever the technical term is) on all the aviation maps and having a 2 mile exclusion zone there are still the odd bandits who encroach on the DZ as I'm sure happens occasionally at all UK DZs. Think it's just one of the issues when jumping in a country with busy airspace. Thats why we all check the spot, not only for the location but also to make sure the airspace is as clear as it can be (that statement has the caveat that nobody can spot everything).
