Treat the insults like a duck treats water on his back. Let them roll off. Ignore the insults and they lose their power. When you give them a reaction you are giving them exacyly what they want. The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

I agree that we need to stay out of places where there is a potential for danger. The situation I relayed happened at 10:00 PM at night at a gas station in a very nice side of town. So I could not control the fact I was in the situation. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Simple as that. But I could control the situation once Sig Sauer was on my side. Most of the time the thugs will leave once they get what they want but I am not willing to play the odds. So what happens after you hand over the wallet? What if the thug assaults you or shots you in the stomach point blank? Is that a chance you want to take. If you are in a situation like the one I mentioned you have to do whatever it takes to get the upper hand. That is the 1st tenet of self defense. Do whatever it takes to give yourself a leg up. You need to put yourself in a position to decide the outcome of the conflict. If you do as the assiliant says then you are giving them control of the situation. Just my 2 cents. Propaganda goes both ways. I can quote sources that refute gloabal warming and you can quote sources that confirm global warming. I am all for taking care of the enviroment but I think this country and the world for that matter has many more pressing problems that need our attention. I disagree. I refuse to be a victim on any level. Where do you draw the line? Why carry a gun if you are not willing to use it? Criminals rely on their victims to be passive. I refuse to fit that mold. I understand where you are coming from but if i had it to do all over again I would not change my actions. My pistol is like my American Express card. I don't leave home without it. A gun may not make you safe but it makes you prepared and I like that. Guns just don't cause violence, they deter it. I was at a gas station late one evening and a 4 gangbangers approached me and told me to hand over my wallet. I reached into my car and instead of grabbing my wallet I reached into my glovebox (legal in the state of GA) and grabbed my Sig Sauer 228. I did even point it at them. The mere appearance of it made them turn tail and run. Like I said, being prepared is the way to go. I couldn't agree more. It is irresponsible for an elected official to meet with one of our enemies and trash our current policies even though they are clearly less than ideal. Dance around the issue all you want but Syria and Iran are not our allies. They never will be. No amount of "peace talks" will change that. The fact that Kucinch disagrees is his right. But he should not take his beef overseas. it is clearly an attempt for some publicity for his presedintial aspirations. I have a better chance of getting elected president. You make a very good point. Guns just don't cause violence. They can deter it as well. The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

If This was Romney or any of the others what would happen?

So you have no desire to be a BASE jumper, then? If Kallend told you to jump off a bridge, would you do it? The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help. -

That would be a no. Just my way of backing up my opinions. If Kallend told you to jump off a bridge, would you do it? The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help. -

Profile has been updated. I have never posted here before. I am new to the forum just like I am new to the sport. 1 jump and counting. The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help. -
I never said anyone needed a gun to survive. I merely like having one so I can defend myself if need be. If you don't like guns that is all good. just let me keep mine in peace. The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

What "benefit of the doubt?" Typical elitist attitude. You assume I am stupid because I disagree with you? That is far from the case. In fairness I will give you benefit of the doubt also. The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help. -
Just because some fancy professor says something is true does not make it true. Statistics can back any position when the numbers are crunched enough. Why don't you ask our friends in England and Australia how successful their gun bans have been? In both cases viloent crime has risen dramatically because the bad guys know the good guys can't defend themselves. The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

There are polls showing that Fox viewers are uninformed and believe untruths. Was this poll done by their competition maybe? I can find polls that back up anything and everything. Fox makes mistakes just like any news network. They are needed to balance out the other networks. The truth lies somewhere in the middle. If you don't like guns that is fine by me. But don't take away my right to own guns. I have them to protect myself and I enjoy target shooting. Oh silly me, I forgot that the liberals and antigunners are much smarter than me and are more qualified to make decisions for me than I am for myself. Funny how you never hear stories of guns preventing crime. Only the bad stuff from the drive by media. My gun ownership has been to my benefit. What a load of crap. Fox viewers are the most uninformed viewers in America. Care to back that up? I watch Fox and I am very informed. Saying that Fox misinforms people is stupid. Just because you disagree with the Fox viewpoint does not make it wrong. The bottom line is that liberals do not like Fox because they stress things from a republican perspective. And I don't like CNN because they are the exact opposite of Fox. The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help. -
Have you condisered adoption? There are many good families that are looking to adopt. A couple I know just adopted from someone in a situation similar to yours. The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

The NAACP will grandstand whenever they get a chance. Vick deserves what he gets. Even after prison time and NFL suspension I doubt any team will have him. Vick is getting alot of support from the black community that I don't understand. Vick is not being targeted because he is black. Had Peyton Manning ran a dog fighting ring for 6 years people would be just as upset. This had nothing to do with race. What he did was wrong and he needs to pay the price. I had my first experience skydiving this weekend. It was a tandem jump at Skydive Spaceland outside of Houston. I actually live in Atlanta but my brother, who lives in Houston, jumped as well for his 40th birthday. I loved it and can't wait to do it again. What a rush. My next jump will be at the farm and I am looking forward to the AFF jump. Is the farm a good DZ? I have heard good things about it.
