  6. Is this a case for having devices that are nice and simple and do 1 job? I did the same thing with my VISO on my first solo after AFF. I left the plane, and the numbers went up. Took me a second or two to figure that one out. I ended up pulling at about 7500 feet. I admit it was entirely my fault, but in speed mode, the VISO actually reads altitude on the way up. Is this common with digitals?
  7. I'd learn cross stitching if she was the instructor.
  8. Keep in mind it was TWO goats. Maybe the first dead goat didn't do anything.
  9. I currently have 12 jumps: 3 Tandems, AFF 1-7 (I did AFF 4 & 5 in one shot), High and Low Solo, and one relax dive. I will be going on travel for work from the 10th to about the 28th, and I do not want to stop jumping during this time. I will be staying in Newport News, Virginia and the closest DZ is in Suffolk. I currently have been jumping at Cross Keys, and as part of my requirements for A license I need 5 coach jumps. Should I, or better yet, can I do coach jumps at another DZ? Should I just stick to relaz dives? I need to talk to my instructors at CK before I leave but any advice would be helpful.
  10. I once went on a snowboard trip with a friend who invited his Canadian cousin to meet us. He claimed that he could out drink us all because beer in Canada had more alcohol by volume. To make a long story short, he parked his truck with the front two wheels on the curb, fell out of the door into a huge mud puddle, and then tried to swim to get himself out. Canadians are great for entertainment purposes, ey.
  11. That was ridiculous. I'm sure the big foamy mat had something to do with it though.
  12. Taco Bell sucks. Go to Wawa.
  13. Underbody lights are a good way to get noticed by the Popo! And they aren't very lenient with 17 year olds if I can remember. (Been about 8 years). I'd say get and exhaust and an intake for starters, but nothing too loud. Then maybe work on stiffening up the suspension. Keep that a shit a sleeper, there's nothing better than somebody wondering why they got smoked by what they thought was a stock car.
  14. Figured I'd say something useful. $1400 and counting. That includes three tandems, three AFF's, helmet, goggles, alti, and log-book. So at $175 times 4 more AFF's (provided I don't repeat) I'll be at $2100.00. For A license I will need 5 coach jumps at $80.00 a piece, plus rig rental of $60.00 per day. Lets say I somehow accomplish this in one day.........$2560.00. That gets me to 15 jumps. I need ten more. Lets say I do them in two days. Rig rental-$120.00 plus 10 jumps times $22.00 each. Grand Total-$2900. Now I need my own rig. My motorcycle was ten grand, skydiving is a bargain, sort of.
  15. I am currently doing my AFF at Cross Keys as well. It is to my understanding that you need either 5 or 6 coach jumps and if I am remembering correctly, a packing class, plus 25 logged jumps total (this includes the mandatory coach jumps) and then you can test for your A license. I think, but I am not 100% certain, as I do not have my paperwork on me. I will check later.
  16. Just my two cents: If you plan on retiring by 35, don't plan on doing anything but trying to retire by 35. Then again, I don't know what your into. You could invent something crazy and that would be it.
  17. Well as far as DOT and Snell standards, helmets like HJC are designed to meet these standards while Shoei, Arai, and Suomy are exceeding these standards up to five years in advance. If your wondering where I get my info from I worked at numerous motorcycle dealerships for quite a few years and have had the oppurtunity to talk with loads of helmet manufacturers and sales reps. I have also tried out practically every helmet on the market. I've done my research. For my own benefit and for customers as well.
  18. Right now I rock a Shoei X-11. Best helmet I have ever owned. Super comfortable, light, and quiet enough. The RF-1000 is plenty nice as well. Honestly, you can't go wrong with a Shoei, Arai, or a Suomy (Can never spell that right). I would stay away from all the gimicky crap out there (Icon, HJC.....). Although one alternative is the Scorpion EXO-700. Not quite as good as the ones I mentioned above, but for $200.00 they are a lot of bang for your buck. Scorpion was actually supposed to come out with a sweet new helmet this summer but it hasn't happened yet. It has an inner tinted shield like on a fighter pilots helmet and an air bladder in the cheeks.
  19. If you haven't served, you probably wouldn't understand. Although as an American you probably should.
