  1. First I want to say that it is absolutely unacceptable that they set reincarnation on the same level as ghosts and UFOs. I do not believe in it but that just denounced the religion of more than a billion people… And second: Yes believing in god AND evolution does NOT work if you apply science. You have to choose either to believe in god and accept everything as the bible says because god created the bible or you choose not to. There can’t be a middle way because you either choose to ignore science or to accept it. You can not choose to just apply science where you like to. And to the whole extremist thing: I completely agree that there are grey zones in things like politics, but there are none in science. In science something is either true or untrue. There is no middle way between those two. To this statement: So the bounds of your being are defined by the limitations of manmade science? Do you have an imagination? No it’s the other way. Science is defined by what really exists. Science explains it and does not define it. Just because we can’t explain it doesn’t mean that there is no explanation. Do you have any self-doubt?
  2. I'd avoid long deco dives before jumping but that shouldn't be a problem if you do your OWD and like everybody said don't get in the plane in less than 24h before flying. If you know what you are doing you could use a deco planer to get the exact times of not flying. And even though I wouldn't risk anything, if you mess up and get deco problems you can still jump

  6. Sounds like a nicely stupid safety third activity I would have joined with great pleasure But before I give you more praise I wanna see a picture of the gator and I better hope it was at least 12 feet or this hole thread is just a waste
  7. I personally never really liked the birthday traditions my family had and hence usually tried to get away from it Tradition 1 was to always wake the person up in the morning with a cake and candles and singing. Since I hate getting woken up, not my favourit tradition. And the other tradition was that everybody from my immediate family called and I had to talk to them on the phone. That might sound not very nice, but it stinks to have to talk to 14 people over the phone and nobody has anything else to say but what did you get for presents and are you gonna have a party tonight. I'd much rather talk to them any other random day of the year when they actually had something important to say. So I'd say for what ever tradition you decide (and I agree that it is a really good idea) give him the choice to like them or not and if he doesn't you might wanna consider stop doing it.
  8. I actually already tried to find the policy of Blue Cross Blue Shield online, but they are not there. I'll have to call them or go by their office.

  11. So for those who have insurance: Did you never check how skydiving is covered? And if you did what did you find out?
  12. Hey thank's for you tips. It seems to be a smaller concern than I would have expected. Pretty surprising seeing that most of us jump out of planes which isn't really the safest thing. I'll probably go with a low deductible and low co-payment. I looked at ehealthinsurance and they gave me some really nice quotes. $1500 deductible and 0% Copayment for 106$ per month. I think I'll go with something like that.
  13. Nobody has a health insurance here?
  14. Hey everybody I'm just looking to get a new health insurance here in the US (Michigan) and since I skydive I wanted to know if I have to be carefull about certain things considering risky sports. I will need an international policy that will make a difference I guess, but are there policies that exclude skydiving? Anybody has a tip what company and plan I should go with or what to avoid? Money isn't really an issue since the US health insurance will be way cheaper than my Swiss one no matter what so I'll save money anyways. Btw: I'm 19, non smoker and healthy
