Understood. I generally limit myself to the example of the earliest Christians in the Bible....It limits the need to believe in mystical mumbo jumbo hocus pocus like transubstantiation and good ole fashion goddess worship that preys on the extreme guilt and lack of assurance of others. They're all just terms anyway...Ultimately, I don't have to call myself a Christian, I don't have to go to Church, I don't have to be baptised, I don't even need the Bible....even bibliology can become bibliolatry.(idolatry) Christainaity is rather simple. It has nothing to do with a complicated system of rituals. There is nothing wrong with customs, traditions and rituals, its just when they replace faith in Christ alone that they become a problem. Perhaps the Catholic Church had good intentions, but it has been perverted to the point that in cannot be justified by the Bible...in fact it is antithetical to it. If you are relying on anything other than Christ for your salvation, how can it be called Christianity.... The earliest Biblical Christians were not Catholics and weren't even called Christians. I have little regard for what happens outside the context of Scripture when it comes to spirituality. I find it hard to believe that the earliest Christians would prescibe to the Catholic belief system. I doubt Peter or Paul (the self proclaimed CHEIF of all sinners!)....whoever, to consider themselves as Infallible Holy Fathers. EDIT Sorry for laughing....I'm nocturnal and was over tired. It is an exceptional place to live...many things to do and places to go that are outside the eye of the law....lots of freedom from being bothered. I'm not suprised at this law however, it is indicative of something they would do. I know many people that can give personal testimony as to the prickishness of cops in that town. They will get you for anything and everything they can...including tickets for slowly rolling through stops signs that aren't there but "are supposed to be there." They even sent an 18 year old to jail for the whole summer (90 days-the max)for drinking underage. (first offense) But as I said...its a nice place to live and many people just don't care. IMO, the mentallity is just eff the police and try to avoid them...they seem to be indifferent of this law....perhaps they understand that people in their own town tend to cross the line every so often, especially with the overwhelming sense of freedom there combined with urban sprawl. EDIT I just wanted to add that many of the people in brighton can be even bigger pricks than the cops there...it is not surprising that they can be annoying for annoyance sake only...I think its like the obscenity law....you know it when you see it. I believe they have a new secret document...in it describes the birth of the "dark seed." Many in the Vatican have interpreted the document to say that if men can marry other men and those married men have sex, God will have to alter the"wife"male so that he may reproduce, thus giving the act of sexual intercourse a purpose other than personal fulfilment within the context of marriage. Ah....yes, Brighton! When I think of Brighton, I see images of 30ft foot blazing bonfire's, skinny dipping under the fireworks, lakeside Heavy Metal concerts, nude sledding and naked tubing....first kisses and cigarette wishes, the alpha and omega.....
