  1. Perhaps that's the disconnect. We're talking about the more permanent types of transition, not things like changing your name, hair color and clothing.
  2. That's so vague I don't even know where to begin. We've all been teenagers where everything and nothing is the end of the world, yet most us make it out alive to realize how foolish we were. Ya, some of us didn't make it and there are numerous reasons as to why that is - and in many cases it's probably not even the obvious one. Perhaps we can start by not pumping our kids up with hormones and psychotropic drugs. Really, comparing nose jobs and braces to teenage hysterectomies, mastectomies, orchiectomies, sphalloplasty, metoidioplasty, and vaginoplasty? Perhaps you've heard of Invisilign or newer alternatives to rhinoplasty? Regardless, at least the nose is still a nose and teeth still teeth. Even some acne medications are no longer considered suitable for children. You're barking up the wrong tree. I'm not about making laws. But seriously, if we can't find some common ground and a way to police ourselves more responsibly, then they're just going to draw the line right down the divide and keep shoving laws down our throat.
  3. It may be; it may not be. That decision ultimately lies with the child and their parents. The only one that should be making that decision is the person that's going to have to live with it for the rest of their life, when both their body and mind are mature enough to do so. Take Chloe Cole for example. She didn't do that to herself, her parents and the professionals they relied on did that to her. Probably wise to just wait several more years and let the child make the decision when they're an adult and responsible for their own choices.
  4. Right, and as I said earlier, people here tend to get a bit hyperbolic, usually in an attempt to bring attention to the more negative aspects of a particular practice that may be getting lost in all the hype. Ok, so you knew that he 'belongs' to a tribe. So given that, I'm sure you also knew he was an atheist and secular (non-practicing) Jew that often refers to that tribe (practically every time he brings it up) as a severely dysfunctional family suffering from mental malware. Probably not the best comparison to make your point. . . Always better to just tackle it head on, rather than taking the easy way out by attacking someone's religion, or by just calling them a bigot and avoiding the issue. (i.e that's akin to saying you hate black people!)
  5. Judge not, that ye be judged. For with what judgment, ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again Before you remove the mote from your brother's eye, see that you remove the beam from your own He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her Ok, so as a matter of public opinion, what does that have to do with discussing why transitioning your child may not be in their best interest? Given the multiple attempts at deflection, I'll take it that most people here would agree.
  6. How about not weaseling out of something that you wish to avoid addressing. We've discussed the excision of foreskins rather extensively in the past, and iirc many here wish their parents chose otherwise.
  7. Well that's an obvious case of deliberate child abuse. I'm sure parents that decided to send their kid through gender re-assignment surgery felt they were doing what's best in the interest of the child, just as parents that sent their kids to Jesus Camp felt they were doing what's best. People here tend to be a bit hyperbolic and have referred to both as "child abuse," and tho that may not necessarily be the case, it doesn't negate the underlying danger they're trying to point out.
  8. Lot of comments here about how Christianity is child abuse, is that also the same as "I hate blacks," or is there an underlying point to be made?
  9. Ah! So you figure if you make fun of rationality enough you can prove anything is dumb. Bravo! I will remember the next time you post anything numeric. Nah, can appreciate the rationality if you applied it equally.
  10. How about not expanding the area of offense taking for shits and giggles? Skydekkers point was on point. So when you said you'll be "traveling the world, seeing new things, meeting new people and just trying to enjoy my life" you meant that you'd be post whoring all day long within minutes of a post notification, without actually addressing arguments?
  11. Let's see here, skydekker was referring to race, color, sex, and/or national origin, yes? O.K., I suppose you might point out that Jews are a race but then it's not universal and blood is the color red so that fit's too and boys are a sex, I suppose, so you win there and all parties involved surely have some national origin so that's another hit for team butt sore about religion. Still, you have to agree that the practice of (icky to say) makes Hillary's basement pizza parlor offense seem tame. Oh, and unlike the pizza parlor lies, this is true. How about just addressing the argument that got us here.
  12. Thanks. I didn’t notice. Bad timing on my part. Bitcoin: ARKK: You'll see similar patterns with most other crypto and it'll likely continue this way. Who like's thrill rides?
  13. I so look forward to Winsor's learned reply. I was going to Google "who else sucks baby weenies" to get a head start, but maybe not. How about just addressing the argument rather than attacking someone's race, color, sex, religion, and/or national origin? Thought you guys understood how that all worked. . .
  14. Right - but only 55% of them are due to illegal (i.e. non-prescription) fentanyl, rather than legal fentanyl sources that are abused by patients/doctors/pharmacists. And an even smaller percentage of that is from drugs coming across the border vs illegally made in the US. So let's go with the 55% number to be conservative. That means that there are 38,000 US deaths a year due to illegal cross-border fentanyl. Let's compare that to gun deaths - 45,000 in 2021. Lmao, "but but with critical thinking, if you take the total amount of fentanyl deaths minus a dosey doe, multiply it by patients/doctors/pharamacists, divided by 3.14159265359 and multivided by the square root of the border vs the U.S, we see it's not really THAT bad. Compare that to the SHEER number of TOTAL Gun Deaths!" . . .and just to be clear here, my problem isn't with which one is worse. . .
  15. Alrighty, then, so the apocalyptic second coming is not a cause for gleeful anticipation in certain circles and a network of SHTF armed and stocked redoubts is just a way of providing a bit of needed security for retired RVer's. Got it. It's whatever you or other people want to make it out to be. I'm simply telling you where I see the value.
  16. "Cyber currencies" are supposed to be just that, currencies. Currencies are not investment vehicles, but they can be used for speculation. People are thinking of these as investments. So many are doing so people that emotions are the only thing driving the price. There is no underlying value. Again, this is beyond mere speculation in cryptocurrencies. I'm talking about investors and companies building/improving their businesses with a blockchain platform and how they respond to upcoming changes wrt PoS. It could be a make or break situation.
  17. Gleeful? Anticipation? I think you're reading a bit too much into this and allowing your bias to blind you from why I'd see value here, particularly for a single person or retired couple traveling the country extensively, likely in an RV or similar fashion. The fact that it can double as a shelter during a local emergency or natural disaster is just a bonus.
  18. No, not yet. It's a process, 15-20 years maybe. Perhaps even a bit longer. PoS is supposed to limit that risk even more. Obviously there are concerns with the switch as you've already noted up-thread, we'll see what happens. I'm sure new problems will arise along with new solutions. Will be interesting to see how investors will react. Speed and hacking - when has that never been a problem?
  19. Shit would've already hit the fan, your residence for whatever reason is no longer fit for survival, what do you do, where do you go? This is just but one of several options. Doubt it would be thousands for any particular ranch within this network, but still, it's a legitimate point that has to be considered, particularly in the long run. It's not hard to imagine, but thanks for keeping inline with the thread title. I'm always reminded of the North East Black out in 2003 when this stuff comes up. I was headed back to Detroit after a nice day at the beach and as soon as I reached downtown I was trapped in utter chaos - cars jammed packed, abandoned, people freaking out, nobody knowing wtf was going on, what to do nor where to go - and that was just the first couple hours. It lasted only a few days - could only imagine had it lasted for an extended period. Don't really care to be left that vulnerable again. Learned a big lesson that day. Perhaps one of the reasons it's attractive. Maybe you'd prefer the Superdome style of survival: https://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/trapped-in-the-superdome-refuge-becomes-a-hellhole/
  20. Dude, I know you can see that this has grown well beyond financial speculation. It's almost as if your head is so entrenched in sand that you can't even shout at the tide anymore. And I don't think it's just a coincidence that you happen to post this soon after Ron and I were talking about a conservative bug out ranch that developed it's own utility token. Please tell me you're not that shallow.
  21. Thanks Ron, sounds interesting. I might be in a position to check some of these out during my travels, God willing. I have family in many of these areas so it could turnout to be a decent network for us. Who knows what to expect at this point, especially if in fact the Vatican is legislating from the Bench, so to speak. I'll keep you posted and send a PM when I get a chance - been busy here packing up and getting ready to move on. . . Take care, God Bless.
  22. I can't even function socially in english - been here for decades and still don't know wtf anyone's talking about.
  23. I'm curious, are you pointing out that it's not quite universal yet or are you amongst the appalled? I posted a link to a reference that I felt was helpful and objective, but for the most part I'm just here to listen. I will say however that I honestly didn't think that this would happen, and perhaps even couldn't happen - so ya, I'm a bit concerned not only about this but how a variety of current issues are going to play out.

Deleted. Oh, Nevermind. I see what you're saying now. I initially thought you were referring to something else.
