  1. Any one know of any where I can go to learn how to fix a sewing machine??? I'm looking for a weekend or week long type of course. Thanks.
  2. I did a half assed search and found nothing..... Airtec keeps sending me letters with every Cypress I have gotten back from service stating that you can only use Cypress loops and washer with Cypress and no other AAD's. I don't see very many Vigil's so I haven't had to deal with this yet but I'm sure the time is coming where I will have to tell someone, yet again, that I can't pack their AAD into their rig. If I am interpreting this wrong please let me know. I have tried contactin Vigil with no response, yet. Just curious to see what other riggers are doing. Is there a Vigil loop and washer system that I don't know about ? Is Vigil working on a solution and how long will it take??
  3. Any one have a manual for this parachute or do you know if there is anything "special" I should know about packing it? Are there supposd to be rubber bands on the inboard steering lines??? Thanks
  4. Any one ever wash a canopy with water and a cap full of woolite??? I've seen where they say to use a mild soap and water. Is woolite mild??
  5. I'm actually looking to find out if there any instructors out there that have opened up with a "brake fire" or something similar, hence postin in the Instructors forum. One of our instructors said that he has been having brake fires and getting some pretty crazy openings. I have never heard of a brake fire on a tandem and don't really see how it could happen if everything was done correctly, so i was wondering if anyone else has experienced brake fires on Sigma tandems.
  6. Anyone ever experience brake fires on the Sigma Canopies with the Sigma risers????? If so do you know why??? Thanks
  7. During a normal inspection i noticed that the customer's reserve pin is slightly bent. It's not so bent that it's immediately noticelable but if you hold it up to a straight edge there is a slight bend in it. Is there a "tolerance" for how much it could be bent before it's no good??? Just wondering, thanks.
  8. How many turns of supertack would you use??
  9. The "Double Back" is on the end of the webbing to keep it from pulling through the hardware. If there is another name for it could you please let me know. thanks
  10. One of our tandem harnesses has a bad quick ejector. I have spare ones to replace it but I have to take out the double back on the webbing. Can I sew down the double back with E-thread????? Thanks
  11. I may be wrong but I think that they tested the magnetic slider keepers for cutaways and the magnets released everytime resulting in clean cutaways. This is just second hand information from some friends that live in DeLand. I'm very open to hear reasons why it is "death on a stick". I've been usin a magnetic slider holder for 3000 jumps or so with no problems....I also haven't had a cutaway after my slider has been stowed.
  12. I agree that that th one who holds the certificate holds the power and may do with it as he wishes and they can sell it to whoeve will buy it for whatever they are willing to pay for it. As was mentioned, it might not really be a good deal in the end anway. Personally....I would much rather see a more experienced jumper with no use for a 50% off coupon, pass it on to a newer jumper trying to get gear and doesn't have a lot of money to do so. No one is losing any money and you've helped someone get their first rig. Plus the Karma points you would earn are worth way more than $300........IMO
  13. One of our jumpers won a gift certificate for 50% off a container. He has offered to sell the gift certificate to one of our newer jumpers for $300. What do you think?? Is it right to sell something that he won? Please discuss.........
  14. It could be a dude named Patrick Van Hoy. He was around there around that time. MAybe this helps???
  15. Anyone know where I can find a manual for an original Swift Reserve????? Please and thanks Mike
  16. Anyone know of any good, downloadable test preps for the senior rigger's exam. Something that has answers with it. Thanks
  17. I have to strongly disagree with you. All of mine have opened beautifully.
  18. happens to us all the time. Gotta keep an eye on those and replace the baracks as soon as they start to show wear.
  19. we go by wing-loading and some common sense. Our Student gear ranges from 190 up to 288. All depends on student size and how switched on they are. Plus we can start downsizing them during AFF when they are ready so when they are done with student status they will be comfortable jumping the rental gear that we have for them. I guess what you are saying is that every student that does AFF should be jumping a 280, even the 95 pound little girl????? doesn't make sense
  20. Maybe bringing your rig in from the landing area in a tangled mess and having to disconnect one three ring to sort it out and you are on a call and rushing around to hook things up......maybe???? Tandems three rings get "twisted" sometimes when you lay the rig down, and if it's not fixed can cause riser failure. You would want to make sure that they are laying the way they are supposed to, could happen on regular sport rigs as well. It's just good practice to give your rig a good going over everytime you jump regardless of how well you take care of it in between jumps
  21. I haven't bothered to read further down the thread yet, so I might be repeating other people, but,...........WHY DIDNT YOU PULL YOUR RESERVE HANDLE??????????????? Who really cares whether or not the skyhook worked properly or not. What you should be asking yourself is why didn't you follow through with my emergency procedures and save your own life instead of waiting for something to save you????????? LAME
