He IS at fault. Pet owners are responsible for the actions of their animals. Period. The fact that she broke the leash law doesn't lessen the fact that his dog injured hers. If anything, that gives weakens his story even more. He should have been able to control his dog while they were rough housing before it got carried away. If it had been a child instead of a dog, would the OP still feel it wasn't his responsibility to pay? It's sad that this woman has to take time and effort to bring this to court for money that she is obviously owed.

Well that's a pretty terrible thing to say. I usually enjoy reading your posts. Usually you contribute your in depth knowledge in a positive way for the less experienced to learn. But this statement is extremely judgemental. If looking good (I'm assuming VB means matching gear) is important to some people, who cares? Newer jumpers are gonna fly like shit. It's a given. Some experienced are gonna fly like shit too. And you know what? That's OK!!! Not everybody will have the ability to fly at the average rate their peers do. But if they wanna look good doing it, more power to them.

Oh, shush you! Besides, I tried to get you to come out here last weekend for our boogie. I told you there would be cute girls here.
-
Great advice! And non snarky too! See VB, it's possible. I guess I am tainted with my only cutaway experience. I was ridiculed to death for cutting away so high. 2000 ft, which was my hard deck at the time. (Low jump numbers)

You're right, I don't. That's why I asked. Have anything to help me understand??

Several replies have indicated he was wrong for not chopping sooner. My question is why? It was stated that this was a fairly new wingsuit for him and the first jump on a new canopy. It appeared to have been a solo. (Have no idea on that) With the combo of a new canopy and relatively new suit, it's logical to conclude that he pulled high? If he did pull high, and was on a vampire, there wouldn't have been anyone anywhere near him. It was not a high speed mal. It only started spinning when he released the toggles. Now, it's quite clear from the video that this was unrecoverable. But what's the harm in trying if there is nobody else in the air and it's a slow speed mal. I wouldn't want to chop my canopy at 4000ft, especially somebody elses canopy, unless there was immediate danger. Am I missing something? Apparently though I'm in the minority. So educate me!

Actually, that is not true of Washington state. ".....That a person following a vehicle driving at less than the legal maximum speed and desiring to pass such vehicle may exceed the speed limit, subject to the provisions of RCW 46.61.120 on highways having only one lane of traffic in each direction, at only such a speed and for only such a distance as is necessary to complete the pass with a reasonable margin of safety." http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.61.425 edit: oops, that's only for a vehicle traveling less than the speed limit. But you still are legally allowed to exceed the posted limit.

Yep. That tree is full of shoes!

No worries. Nurses tend to get blamed for everything. I'm use to it.
-
Nurses do not prescribe medication. That order must come from the physician. The problem then lies with an inappropriate doctor handling a hospice pt. Many families choose to have the oncologist stay on as the primary because they have formed that relationship and trust that doctor. Although this is understandable from a family's perspective, it is ultimately devestating for the pt. It boils down to treatment vs comfort. Oncolgist only know how to treat. They can't fathom morphine 100mg/hr when they are use to prescribing 4mg/hr. It seems like it would be simple math; the pt is in pain = give more meds. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way with many doctors. The key is to sign on with a hopice physician. They allow the nurses much more autonomy with pain meds. (They prescibe a scale. Again, nurses do not prescribe) They are also much more liberal with robinol which is key to the last few hours of life. When asking an oncologist for this drug, the most likely response is, "what's robinol for again?" On a side note, Kevorkian died at my hospital. It would have been interesting to care for him.

I was worried going into it because shows and movies are never as good as the book. However, I have not been disappointed. This show rocks!! Slight differences from the book, but it actually follows it pretty closely. I highly recommend this show!

It wasn't so much your age as....well....errr.....you know what I said!

I'm quite suprised at all the replies that support purchasing the tires for him. While I understand your desire to protect your son, as a father you also have to learn to let go and hope your parenting techniques yielded a responsible adult. You can't protect him from his poor choices forever (not purchasing $40 tires). You did the right thing by bringing it to his attention, but now the ball is in his court. You've done your part. I agree that it is awful about your friend's son, but there are hundereds of ways for your own son to meet the same fate. You can't protect him from them all. It seems teaching responsibility is the bigger lesson. edit: spelling

Mmmmmmmmm!!!!!! Did I mention I like steak???

Says the man who just bought a crossbrace.

I'm glad you like your pts.
-
I'm confused?? Did you miss speak? You did edit your post so I can't read what you originally wrote. In a previous post, I insinuated that all health care workers CHOOSE to work with the public.
-
What do you mean you work with the public? I'm not quite sure what you're asking? http://www.thefreedictionary.com/public With that as the definition, my job would certainly entail working with the public. (I'm a nurse.)
-
No, I certainly don't want to jump your ass!! But your post did come across as quite cynical. I suppose I have a pet peeve with people who choose to work in the medical field and then don't have compassion. (Not saying you don't, but I only had the one post to go on.) I've never met anybody who blamed their issues from smoking on anybody other themselves. Yes, they are pissed for being sick, but not pissed at me. Trust me, in my line of I've seen (smellled!!) it all. But I not only choose to work in health care, I also choose to work with the public. Just comes with job. Again, NOT jumping your ass!! Just friendly debating. To iluvtofly: No. I don't see how any of my post could have been construed as sarcasm. I'm a HUGE pt advocate.
-
Wow! A little bitter?? If somebody doesn't want to shower, who are you to judge? And why the attitude about smoking? You think they don't deserve treatment because they caused their own issues? What about the obesity that leads to tons of comorbidity? What about sun worshippers who get skin cancer? I could go on too. And why in the world should anyone know their insurance? Shit, I went to school for 8 years and barely have an understanding of how the insurance works. Why should the paying customer have to know it. That's what his premiums are for. And not everybody wants to understand their health history and what meds they take. That's their choice. How is dealing with a pt who chooses not to take an interest in their medical health different than dealing with somebody who can't know (ie, dementia, brain injury, ect)? And you seem to have an issue with drug seekers. Why is that your business? The first thing you learn in school is, pain is what the pt says it is. You don't get to judge. I would suggest getting some compassion or finding a new line of work.

Agreed. But my post was to defend the nurse, not the doctor.
-
I bet according to that nurse, 45 min is just a few minutes.

Whoopsie! I thought for sure you said today! I will be in RO tomorrow night and of course boarding all day Sunday if you don't already have plans.
