you should send it over here to the uk as our cheapest aff courses costs the equivelent of $3000! my tandem alone the other day cost $450 (10k ft)! they still go for $400+ over here!

hey dude, i had a look at your previous posts and can totally relate. im new on here therefore not noticed by many, but ive been going through the same emotions recently. i heard a saying once... It will all be ok in the end. if its not ok, its not the end.

its the equivalent to $11 a gallon here in the uk... and if isnt bad enough our road tax is going up aswell to something stupid like $800 a year. and our cars are twice the price!
-
as bjjman said, each to their own. but as skymama also said, sensory overload! (i can so relate to that) best just to do it, either way!
-
well i suggest you take a look at the rest of the forum... when i first joined i had quite a few pm's sent over offering advice, part of the reason i want to get into skydiving is the people.

after doing a ton of research I was thinking of doing aff right away, but in the end decided to do a tandem first. im glad i did as now i know half what to expect. have a look at my newbie post for a description of what its like for someone whos not done it before :)

one other thing i forgot to ask, has anyone had any problems on your first few aff jumps in doing what you are supposed to be doing? before my tandem, i was expecting to be able to concentrate at least 95% of the journey down, but due to the overwhelming feeling of freefall for the first time, i was kind of like a passenger in my own body and im worried it may affect when it comes to checking altitude and practice pulls during aff

yeah due to work/money commitments and the english winter i had to put it on hold for a while, but im not one to give up!

I signed up a while ago but i thought id re-introduce myself now ive taken the plunge :) Done a tandem at the north london parachute center today, what an experience! Friendly staff and my instructor had 29 years experience (so he said) so i was confident i was in good hands. The anticipation on the way up was nerve racking, and when the door opened and i sat on the edge looking down, it was unreal. Then the feeling of leaving the plane was incredible in itself, but the freefall had me screaming with joy like a child! being under canopy was at first surreal after the huge rush, but i had a quick go of the toggles before i lost the bloodflow to my arms! the instructor done lots of tight turns over some low clouds on the way down (i was surprised how much G you can actually pull), saw our rainbow shadow, then came in for a perfect landing. For anyone thinking of doing it, i hope ive given you an idea what its like for a first timer. the feeling compares to nothing on this planet. I have subsequently broken my face from grinning all day! tunnel time and aff is next i guess... to be honest the thought of doing it again scares me, but its something i feel i just cant walk away from now

thanks for the replies guys, its given me a fair few other places to look at. I shall keep you all updated on where i choose! im soooo excited! I feel like a kid waiting for christmas again!

i really would love to! but last time i checked, a flight to the other side of the world cost more than the course! then there is accomodation and spending money etc...
-
I found that most places here in the uk charge about £1700 for an aff course and 10 consilidation jumps. but the freefall university in spain offer the same package with flights and accomodation included for around £1350. it sounds a bit too good to be true? If i went i would be going on my own. I really like travelling too. Have any of you guys opted to do the course abroad? if so how did you find it?

oh yes dont get me wrong, the jumping is the main reason ill be doing it! No doubt ill be needing a spare pair of underwear 1st time round though. the falling im not so scared about... i think when it comes to the point of jumping out of the plane for the 1st time, thats whats gonna get me scared! cant wait!

Hey guys, Always wanted to do skydiving, but never really been in the position to do it! Im not a stranger to adrenaline, being a biker and doing the odd bungee! When im back from holiday ill be booking an AFF course. Not just because jumping out of a plane seems like a good idea, but the people, and lifestyle really appeals to me! see ya around
