  1. Im pretty sure I wouldn't be disappointed with a pilot at all, I just wanna make sure, as well as test other "like" canopies just to see how they fly, and who knows I may change my mind once I get the chance to start jumping other stuff. Although I have to say, seein that brand new bitch out of the bag and puttin the first jump on it was pretty cool
  2. I am pretty new to skydiving, but I have started getting somewhat bored with the boat I have been flying (falcon-195). Its slow, not responsive at all. I test jumped a Pilot 168 yesterday, and was amazed at the difference. I think I could have had a better experience with it, but it was freakin' cold and I pulled at 7 grand, and didn't exactly dress properly. I had fun, but my mind was more focused on how bad my hands and face hurt. Anyways, what I am wondering is, what other canopies should I check out before purchase time. I am looking for a responsive canopy, good glide ratio, pleasant openings. All of these things I noticed while jumping the pilot, but I just would like some advice before I go and drop a couple grand on a canopy.
  3. Big fat goose egg for me... I hate this whole thing about bills and low funded checking accounts

    Odd Dreams

I had a dream the other night that my main failed and i went to my reserve and it blew apart and i smacked the ground pretty good.. I hope that's not "foreshadowing" anything....
  5. The first time this happened I pulled and was ready for deployment, but nothing happened. The actual deployment was way longer than normal, so I quickly moved my hand toward my reserve handle and out comes my main. I guess I disrupted the burble when I moved my arms? Im not sure, but I have noticed that this has happened about 3 or 4 times in my last 20 jumps or so. Honestly it scares the shit out of me.. Im going to let one of the experienced instructors or riggers look at my pilot chute, but I was wondering has anyone had this problem. Is it time for a new PC?
  6. Yeah, It seems that the pricing is pretty reasonable and they have the online color scheme thingy. So that helps as well. At the moment however, I have changed my mind and started looking into Tony freefly pants. Im in no real hurry, but it would be nice to look like I know what Im doing :) thanks for the input
  7. I am looking at getting a pair of FF pants. Does anyone own or know about kurupee? What is a good all around brand?
  8. Okay, I have read all the posts, and I must say that it all sounds pretty depressing. I mean, I started skydiving and really found whatever it was that I was looking for. And to hear what experienced people might be thinking is kind of dis-satisfying. But I can say that I feel like I have developed relationships at the DZ, whether it was an instructor telling me not to do anything stupid, or another fun jumper to BS with. I guess I should disregard this whole post, b/c I know for a fact (unless something really f-ed up happens) that I will continue to skydive and learn from people that have been in my shoes. But for the most part with my short-lived experience with skydiving, any time I had a newbie question, I always have gotten what I feel to be sincere and honest answers. I can't really say that anyone has turned their back on me(not yet anyway), and I truly appreciate what all the experienced people have told me or shown me, it makes it worthwhile. And if someone did turn their back on me b/c they have more jumps, I wouldn't think very highly of that person, becasuse after all, they were in my shoes once, and it is a shame to see people like that in a sport like this... That is all, I am done ranting..
  9. How bout someone who tells you the truth, however awful it is, in order for you to benefit from because they know that u will..
  10. Wow, that was...easy! Thanks a lot
  11. I have HP Photosmart, and it will only let me set the resolution so low, and even then its too big...
  12. I am trying to upload an image for my profile, but it seems the smallest I can get my photos is 60KB, I have my camera on the most economic setting, any thoughts?
  13. Okay, so It was my 16th jump. We had a different pilot that was flyig. He opens the door, and my un-experienced mind tells me that it is time to leave the plane... The first guy to go out didn't have much experience either. Neither one of us spotted and I landed a good mile and a half out. Landed okay in a field. I hopped a fence and started heading down a road, and a truck pulled up with two guys who asked if I needed a ride, I did... I learned an important lesson that day which was last weekend, trust only your eyes and not the person in front of you... It could have been worse, and on the rest of the loads that day I opened right over the DZ.
  14. Im sure you all will get tired of my pic posting once I get my own rig
  15. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I definetly want a used rig for starters, and I'm pretty sure im leaning towards a 200 main. Also, everything is sold seperatley, is it just too hard to find all the fixings for one price instead of buying 5 different pieces to make up a jumpable rig?
  16. I complered my first 3 AFF levels. It is a bit frustrating because I am not stable during most of the freefall, although I do find about a 5-10 second window where I am stabilized and more relaxed. With each jump I am focusing more on the skydive and how I need to be positioned. My coaches are great and give me clear signals when need be. Hopefully on fouur, I can be totally relaxed and do my 90's. It seems I have the biggest problem getting my legs out. I tend to keep them behind me, but when the instructor gives me the "legs out' symbol, I instantly become more stable. Anywyas, thus far I am truly astounded on how much fun skydiving is, even though I am not that good. Oh, and 2 of my 3 landings were stand ups!
  17. Thanks for the advice. In 12 hours I will be at the DZ receiving instructions. My friends, family, and co-workers think that I have lost my mind. I will definetly be posting my experience and look forward to this new hobby.
  18. I have a quick question, in the AFF course, I jump a total of 7 times? I see people on here with level A, B and so on.. After I complete the 7 jumps in AFF and asusuming there are no complications, What level will I be on and how many levels are there?
  19. Yeah I figured it would be pretty expensive, but I honestly think some part of me was born for this, however cliche or cheezy it may sound. But I am starting my level1 AFF this saturday and I don't think Ill be getting much sleep until then. Thanks for the input and Ill definetly be posting about my experience after level 1!
  20. I did my first jump when I was 18, and I am 22 now. About a month ago is when I really started thinking about getting into skydiving pretty seriously and trying to obtain my license. I have a couple of questions. How much money should I be looking at spending for all the rigging? Any input would be appreciated.
