all i know is that when i grew up, a lot of society had the view that spanking was normal and good. and there were no kids shooting other kids in schools, even though we could take them and keep them in the trunk so we could stop and hunt on the way home. discipline was there, and i don't care if you do call it fear, not respect, it worked. and it's just like a lawyer to sound out so loudly against it, just another example of the kind of society we have denigrated into. and i also know from experience that when i carved my own wooden paddle, i have had a lot less problems with my 10 year old, just the threat of it has been enough to turn him around for over two months now. you don't like it, don't want to do it, fine. but screw you if you're gonna call me a child abuser. eta: the last sentence wasn't directed toward you normiss, just a general statement. http://kitswv.com

the one i got for my son is a .22/.410 combo. not only is it stored in his mom's room with the ammo locked up separately, it has a key that goes with it on the hammer. he has had firearms safety training by me, like i used to do in the military. one time, back when i had to cock it for him, after i handed it back to him, as he turned to ask me a question, the barrel pointed toward my head. it was loaded and cocked, but luckily he was trained enough not to have his finger on the trigger. i snapped back into military mode and as i snatched it out of his hands, i almost butt stroked him in the head with it from instinct. i stopped myself about 2 inches from his forehead. gun safety is no joke, and kids need to be constantly supervised around them at all times. http://kitswv.com

i wasn't referring to her post alone, i was referring to the subject of the thread. it seems that soon after it started, it started veering off course. yes, satellites would be affected, and there are more of them than anything else up there, but i would like to think that no matter how expensive or vital they are, that human life would be worth more. and the solution could be as simple as orbiting electromagnets. and i do agree that the discussion is wonky, to say the least. http://kitswv.com

he's got me beat then, with that a license and shit... http://kitswv.com

the point isn't really a satellite hitting another one, it's a satellite (or 4 inch chunk of one) hitting either a spacecraft trying to go somewhere or an astronaut (or space station). that would cause some serious damage to a person, and could potentially either disable or destroy a spacecraft. at least that's what i got from reading about it last year sometime. http://kitswv.com

i agree with this. fewer guns would be good, but the point you made about tv is the real problem. just because we are allowed to keep, and in some cases carry, guns does not mean we should promote violence. this is the real problem. glorifying violence and bombarding our youth with it in the formative years removes all of the negative consequences. and to kallend above, read the specific plan i posted. would work and is a good compromise. and as i am sure you are aware of, a compromise is the best that can be achieved in anything which so greatly divides the masses. the goal is reducing violence with guns, but how do you do that when all you see is glorified hollywood violence everywhere. example: when i was in germany, most of the sex crimes were committed by american gi's. because germans were not prudes, they were not repressed, and it fostered more understanding of the opposite sex. when you restrict something, the thing becomes "forbidden fruit" if you will, and only realistic portrayal can have any hope to change that. and again, how does any of this gun control debate fit into the thread? typical of how divisive the topic is. americans using sound bites to try to show how the original poster was wrong. fucking pathetic, and sad to say, typical. http://kitswv.com

wow. this isn't math class, it's a thread on how foreigners view the us in terms of gun control, or lack thereof. at least it was on the first post. and i have figured out why there were no comments on my post a bit further up. you know, the one that everyone ignored...it was a perfectly reasonable solution to the problem about background checks for individual gun transfers and safety training of gun owners. i guess that people aren't really looking for a reasonable solution, they're just looking for a place to spout their "opinions". i do just wish that those opinions were clearly formed, with factual basis, rather than just spouting whatever misinformation and false ideals are coming from whichever political organization of their choosing. grow the hell up people. http://kitswv.com

since when does torturing animals constitute free speech?

re read the post. unless you're being sarcastic. the line above is exactly the point i was trying to make. the only reason i replied was so that people don't think i'm that cold hearted. http://kitswv.com -

sfzombie replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
that's a sign of where the country is headed. burning the flag was borderline, but it's allowed as an expression of free speech. does it piss me off? yes, but i fought in 2 wars so that someone could do it. this is fucking pathetic. http://kitswv.com -
nice article, it's a refreshing view on how other see us. but is it realistic? i think not. there are already background checks in place when you buy guns. and the limits on high capacity magazines did nothing to reduce any sort of gun violence, duh, like it could do anything. i think that common sense regulations are in order, to own a gun you should be trained in gun safety, this could be waived by producing a dd214 to prove military service, or something to prove ex-law enforcement. should be good for life. and there should be a national background check card available, for purchases from individuals and on the internet. should also be good for life, there should be a system in place like they already have, where you call in to check the number, and if the card is a forgery or a disqualifying conviction has invalidated it, the sale cannot proceed. you could get a confirmation number and put in on the receipt. not gonna happen though. too much money opposing it. i support common sense regulation, not infringement, of guns. as long as it's not stupid, which most proposed legislation is. http://kitswv.com

Explosions at the Boston Marathon finish line area today

no, i think that the misinformation should be stopped. the planned leaks that are put out by people at the top are usually not contradicting, but when you have multiple quotes from unnamed, unauthorized sources, there are many different versions of events reported as true, only to turn out later to be mere speculation. in a situation like this, other than the "leaks" from the top, anyone not authorized to make statements to the press should not make statements. kinda like what's his name that gave secrets to wikileaks...and if cnn is talking about it, i must not be alone on this one... http://kitswv.com -
that is cool. my cat runs and hides from the vacuum. the dog just barks at it, then runs. http://kitswv.com

that's what i heard from one source as well. but earlier, i heard it was a neighbor, an older woman, who noticed it and told the guy. after this reporting we had, i am not sure i know who to believe. http://kitswv.com

i believe that as long as you keep your mouth shut about this, nobody would offer to prosecute you, even if the laws exist, as they would not know about it. this is the one rule that anyone doing anything even slightly illegal usually ignores: tell noone. almost 90% of investigations get solve due to someone talking. http://kitswv.com

Explosions at the Boston Marathon finish line area today
sfzombie replied to BillyVance's topic in Speakers Corner
no, i mean he did a good investigative job with the conclusions he made with the available information. do you honestly think the fbi or anyone else would have come up with these two so quickly on their own? without the widespread information on the internet, we would still be looking. well, maybe not, these two weren't the brightest of bulbs. i do believe that if i were planning a bombing, if it were not a suicide bomb, i would have been out of the country at least a couple of hours later, before anyone knew i did it. and the truly shameful actions in this ordeal were the media. journalists my ass. they were all in such a hurry to get the scoop and be first to report something that they didn't have time to check the first fact before reporting. and i am getting so sick of the "unnamed official who has no authority to speak to the media". this means that they should not be talking, so they should not be quoted. http://kitswv.com -

one thing nobody has mentioned yet: robert's conclusions were pretty close, when you take the fact that he was using a little misinformation the media was reporting. two guys, foreigners raised here, residents of the area, some training in ieds. good work blevins...now how many people refuted all of these claims? i didn't feel like going back and counting. http://kitswv.com -
this is where i would normally point out that the boat was spotted because of a tear in the cover and some bloodstains around it to point out that he must have been wounded during the shootout the night before, but due to all the other misinformation, i am leaving it at speculation. http://kitswv.com

well, cars are designed to carry people and their things...engines are designed to turn gasoline into co2...just sayin'... http://kitswv.com

last one i read about that made the news was where a 4 year old got a cop's gun from the bed and shot his mom. 4 year olds cannot take the safety course and you would think the cop had safety training. so much for reducing anything... http://kitswv.com

like you posted, failing to provide a sample leads them to get a warrant to obtain a sample. they have magistrates on call to issue such warrants, and if not, then they should. no watering down of rights for any reason, under any circumstances. the protections are there for a reason. http://kitswv.com

if anything, he would stand by his ideals. i can deduce this by having read his letters and statements. sure it's a deduction, so it really should be thrown out. the only thing we can look back on is his words and actions. we, or anyone else, have no business making such deductions. the only thing we can and should do is read the words. unless he were around to ask, hell he could have been thinking anything when he wrote the words. could have been like, "gee, i wonder if anyone will believe this when i'm gone, will be the best joke in history" http://kitswv.com

wow. you really believe this shit you're spouting, don't you? i go to a gun range frequently and most of the targets used there are either circular or rectangular. i guess the circle can represent head shots, if you want to stretch it. when was the last time you went to a gun range? or do you just regurgitate whatever you hear that supports what you say, without fact checking? all guns were designed to propel a projectile farther than was possible before. that's all. if you really want to examine the effectiveness of killing, look to the ammunition, not the gun. the design of the gun is almost unchanged in over 100 years, with the notable exception of the addition of safety devices (handguns, not rifles). http://kitswv.com

first off, that's where tougher penalties come in. if you're out, you're rehabilitated, if you're not fit to be out, then stay in. second, i believe there are already laws removing the right to felons from owning arms, or are you that ignorant? responsibility means to follow laws or suffer consequences. too many dui's, you can't drive, etc. http://kitswv.com

i agree with you there, we need to control that situation. but the answer to controlling the situation is not to enact more laws when the ones on the books won't prevent these atrocities in school shootings or mass killings (i'm not counting gang or drug related shooting). the statistics of these kinds of killings are insanely small when taken in context. the odds of me getting killed in a shooting incident are almost nil. granted, i could venture to some places at some times and greatly increase my chances, but on average, they're non-existant. i'm thinking more along the lines that if it's not broke, don't fix it. there is absolutely no way to prevent shit like the ct school shootings by limiting law abiding citizens rights, http://kitswv.com
