  1. Holy crap look at all the junk he wears on his head… He’s got like 12 still cameras, 8 video cameras, a slide projector, VCR and Beta machine, laser beam, missiles, and a perfectly groomed Magnum P.I. mustache! Impressive to say the least. Life is good
  2. I’m one of those “Weight Lifty-Kinda People” so I figure I would chime in. You should refrain from working the same muscle group everyday. Your muscles grow when you are resting not while your working out. While you’re working out you break down the muscles, in order for you to benefit from that work you have to give them time to recover and grow. If you continue to stress the same muscle group your workouts and strength will plateau or decrease, a sign of over training, because you’re not getting enough muscle recovery rest. Doing the same exercise everyday may feel great to you, but your robbing yourself of your gains. Life is good
  3. There are a whole lot of unwritten unspoken rules in this sport!? In life (skydiving or otherwise) I say pipe up and say something otherwise I guess it wasn’t that important. I’m never sure what’s accomplished by giving the cold shoulder. What happens if they run in to you next time? Are you going to yell at them from not understanding your silent and subtle form of communication. Crap…I think I’m channeling my last fight with my significant other. Life is good
  4. The plan was to count a few seconds then pull but...I pitched so fast out the door....people callled it a POP & Hop Life is good
  5. Cheating death? What kind of skydiving are you doing? Life is good
  6. I have heard the "field of view" thing before from a few people. I don't understand that logic. If you can't see very well with a helmet on, then why does every motor sport racer (motorcycle or car) wear one? They are going at breakneck speeds with sharp turns and other racers trying to get in their way. If anybody needs to see well you think it would be these guys, yet they all wear them. And wearing a helmet depending on your destination seems odd. It's like your saying you can plan for when you are going to have an accident. But if you could do that, it wouldn't be called an accident...it would be called an on-purpose. Life is good
  7. I think the new name for Mr. Bill should be…”The slightly gay exit.” Life is good
  8. I don’t think I get complacent each part of the skydive has my complete and full attention. I was just wondering was there a time when you could say to yourself, “ok if I biff it in now, I really have my head up my ass.” Everyone progresses differently of course, so I was curious in general when you felt most comfortable with your landings. Jump 7, jump 150, jump 450? I laugh at myself because I think I can land in no wind, some wind, lots a wind, hot day cold day whatever…IF (and that’s a big if) the conditions stay the same all day. I’m like, “come one Earth pick a weather condition and stick with it buddy!” Life is good
  9. When were you confident about your landings? Just curious at what jump number you feel you had your landings dialed in. At what point were you reasonably sure you would be able to land on your feet and where you intended, no matter the conditions. And when where you sure you could go to any DZ and feel comfortable about how you would land? For myself I will have a good handful in a row then a real stinker of a landing, and feel like I’m back to square one. Life is good
  10. He only weighs 110lbs!? Are there any grown man size canopy pilots I can look up to? Life is good
  11. I would totally watch a movie called “Snatch Force!” Life is good
  12. Quote NO RSL. different rig than my first but same set up No RSL No AADQuote I have seen posts from camera guys why they don't use and RSL. But I was wondering why no AAD? Is it a swoop thing? Thanks for the good posts lots of good info. Life is good
  13. I don’t know what part is a “crock of shit.” I was simple sharing a real story about a Lodi/Skydance experience. I have no problems jumping anywhere, and I look forward to making it to Lodi one day. As would my friend, except the whole banning thing might pose a problem. I simple found the situation strange at first (since at the time I did not know how DZ worked) but know it’s amusing. First off my friend is a very experienced aviator to say the least, but what’s funny is he is about the most unassuming real nice guys around. He just really likes to talk shop, and for him that’s airplanes. And on that day, clearly the DZO adamantly did not. And that was officially his first banning from anything anywhere in his whole life. He is not a malicious person, heck he has given many people free flight lessons and has repaired more then a few planes for nothing more then a handshake. I look forward to jumping at Lodi for a new experience and the cheap tickets. My friend does not share my budgetary concerns, I think it’s just easier for him to fly there. I don’t know if that will work out because I joke with him he could be the only person to ever be banned from Lodi, so he might stick out like a sore thumb. Life is good
  14. I have jumped at Skydance but have yet to make it to Lodi for the cheap tickets. My good friend might be uniquely qualified on this subject. It's a great story that I can't do justice to in this post but... Long story short he started at Lodi (cheaper) and finished at Skydance. He is a pilot and mechanic who owns a few planes and basically loves talking about aviation. While at Lodi I guess he took notice of their planes, specifically certain dents, dings and their condition. He brought it up to his instructor who was also the owner of the DZ and was immediately banned from the place for life. So he finished at Skydance where he has jumped ever since. Although his version reenacting the incident and the DZO flipping out is absolutely hilarious. Life is good
  15. The term 'LOL' does not do justice to how much I just laughed out loud! That.Was.Funny. 10/10 FYI- I plan on stealing that joke as my own and using it every chance I get. Life is good
  16. I have a question... in the video of the Xaos 21 the canopy looked like it was in a steep dive most of the time. Was the pilot doing that on purpose to match the wingsuits, or is that just how a canopy that small flies? Life is good
  17. Yeah but they don't know if the pilot can stop the spin. We can see now it was just 23 seconds, but for all they knew at the time that plane could spin all the way to the ground. I'm sure looking at an open door in a out of control aircraft looked very tempting to them. Life is good
  18. This is sorta' off subject but may be of interest... I just came back from Dahab where this was shot. I was there for about a month diving the Blue Hole and the other hot spots. It's a beautiful place but it creeps you out walking in to the water and seeing all the plaques to dead divers, most of who are still at the bottom. Diving the Blue Hole and the Arch draws divers from all over the world, who want to test themselves. Some are prepared, others are not and that video shows the results. I believe this diver got narc'd and lost it completely. Aside from that Dahab, Egypt is a fantastic and really cheap place to dive and live. The only problem most people have there is finding a reason to leave. If you want to see someone doing almost the same dive with NO air check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrXQbucZUDA Life is good
  19. I'm sure some folks think I'm a moron because I elect to not eat most vegetables, nor do I work out every day. Now that's just plane CRAZY! Your playing with fire there. Life is good
  20. Would you consider your choice common among camera flyers? If you never jumped camera would you have an RSL? Just wondering. Life is good
  21. You couldn't pay me to jump with a Skyhook, nor an RSL. Yes, I've jumped with my Cypres off, as there are occasional reasons for that, too. May I ask what are your personal reasons for disliking any forms of RSL? Is that just for certain types of jumps or all jumps? Life is good
  22. I don't have your answer, but I was just wondering why disconnect it? Life is good
  23. I just saw the movie, it was pretty good. Although they made the tandems look like a terrifying and out of control experience. I would not jump a tandem ever, if I just watched that first! Life is good
