Who will win the election, I'll go with this.
livendive replied to b1jercat's topic in Speakers Corner
Easier question...who will lose in the election? Answer: most of us. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -
They are both elitist fuckwads who I would avoid if given the option. If I absolutely had to socialize with one of them though, I'd take Kerry because his plain vanilla pomposity is more tolerable than Bush's divinely-inspired, illiterate flavor of pomposity. Nope. Never had one and don't want one. I can understand the "love" comments made below, but those seem oddball. The only way I could imagine such a thing is if I was already in a serious relationship and the person contracted HIV through a blood transfusion or something. Such a risk would require a serious emotional attachment and I don't think I could develop an attachment like that with someone I wasn't already sleeping with. Having been cheated on in the past, I know how much it sucks. One of my two moral standards is essentially the golden rule, i.e. do unto others as I would want done to me. I don't want to be cheated on, so I will not cheat on a significant other in my life nor help someone else cheat on their significant other.. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" livendive replied to livendive's topic in Events & Places to Jump
It takes about 2-2.5 hours. We're almost an hour south of Vantage. Hope you make it over to play with us...we're gonna have some fun. Weather might be chilly enough to rate gloves, but usually stays nice till November. Feel free to drag some others with ya too! Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" Just bumping this to ask if there's any interest in this weekend among dz.com readers. Anyone hoping/planning on making it to Richland for the weekend of the 23rd-24th? Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -

Weenie! I'm driving over to Davenport Friday night...jumping Saturday morning...driving to Seattle for Edgar Martinez' retirement game Saturday afternoon (and hopefully seeing Ichiro break Sisler's record)...driving back to Davenport after the game Saturday night...jumping on Sunday and driving back to Richland Sunday night. Let's see...that's a little over 600 miles total, in ~52 hours...AND I'll be jumping, partying, and attending a Mariner's game. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" What do you normally do with the pictures...upload them to your computer or use the phone to send them to someone else. If the latter, are you limited to people who have the same carrier? I really like my US Cellular service plan, but don't have any friends who use it. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

I'm sick of my old cell phone and am going to get a new one. The camera phones look like a fun gimmick, but I'm wondering how useful they really are. The advertising says you can send photos to another US Cellular customer (e.g.), an email address, or an online photo album. I take that to mean that you *can't* send photos to another camera phone if the other person doesn't have the same carrier. So my questions for those of you who have camera phones are a) do you actually use it? (beyond the first couple weeks of owning it) and b) is sharing pictures with other camera phones relatively common and easy or uncommon due to others not using the same carrier? And that gets you a free breakfast??? Congrats. Do you work in that field? Well not a 'free' breakfast, but a meal nonetheless. It ought to get me a pretty good drunk tonight too. Yeah, I've worked in this field for ~11 years now...serious pay raise going into the system as of this morning.

Without cheating, how many posts do you think you have?

1100 & something, because I noticed a couple weeks ago that it won't be too much longer before I become one of the "more posts than jumps" type. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -

I are a collige gradeate. Started in 1993, took a break from 1995-2000, then hit it sporadically for the last 4 years. I think I'm gonna play hooky from work for the next hour & go treat myself to breakfast. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Absolutely not. I'm only concerned about how we treat innocent people who have been charged with a crime. You're trying to get me to say, "How do we know they're innocent until after the trial," so that you can say, "SEE?! We have to treat them as innocent because we don't know they're guilty yet!" and I'm not falling for it. Actually, I wasn't trying to get you to say anything. I was just answering your question. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

That's why I specified *wrongly* accused. Absolutely not. I'm only concerned about how we treat innocent people who have been charged with a crime. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Please answer this question. I understand your point and agree that there is no legal requirement that we treat others as innocent until proven guilty. In some cases, I think it would be reasonable to take certain precautions (e.g. the babysitting thing that keeps coming up despite its total lack of relevance to this discussion). Anyhow, I can see your point. I think if you consider the question above, you'll also be able to see mine. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

It might offend HIM if he's not guilty. If you were wrongly accused tomorrow of child molestation and immediately shunned by all skydivers would it bother you? We are supposed to treat the accused as innocent until proven guilty. To do otherwise is immoral because we don't have the ability to go back in time to change our treatment of them if they turn out to not be guilty. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" Unfortunately, I agree with your observations. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Low-pressure RW weekend - Richland, WA - Oct. 23 & 24
livendive replied to livendive's topic in Events & Places to Jump
A couple of us at Richland Skysports thought it would be fun to designate a weekend to invite Northwest jumpers in for some low-pressure RW before the cold weather arrives. Basically, we'd like to make some new friends in the 100-300 jump range (or so) and belly-fly with them. Folks who are not quite at 100 jumps yet but who have enough RW experience to stay with and safely track away from a 4-way are welcome, as are folks with more jumps provided they understand these jumps will be geared toward fun and basic skills, not block sequences or mega-points. We (Lee Silcox and I) intend to start with some relatively simple 4-ways and maybe increase the size or complexity of the jumps as appropriate for whoever shows up. This is not a coaching camp or geared toward competition, and there will be no boogie fee or specialty aircraft, just our normal 206 and Twin Bonanza. There will be plenty of fun to go around though, both in the air and in the evenings. When: October 23-24, 9 AM till sunset or beerlight, whichever comes first Where: Richland Skysports in Richland, WA You bring: Your own gear with in-date reserve Sufficient skills to safely play in 4-way formations (or larger) A positive attitude with priorities of safety first, fun second, and points third Proof of USPA membership Enough money to buy your own jump tickets, meals, etc (and your beer if you think you'll end up owing) We'll provide: A Cessna 206 and a Twin Bonanza Un-famous (possibly infamous) load organizing by Lee Silcox & Dave Todak, with others helping out as necessary A guarantee of great weather (guarantee limited to refund of the non-existent registration fee) Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!"
