Not everyone lives in the US and not everyone here jumps from 14k. your poll results will not be valid. Hey, keep the altitude comments in the other poll currently going ("What's average altitude at your home DZ?") Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -

Not everyone lives in the US Which is why I put "in the US" in my question. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -

Hopefully it was some Canadian who didn't convert to US dollars. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -
Yeah, but I kinda figured the distinction would be somewhat obvious, with a small distribution between 9,000 and 11,000, and a larger distribution between 12,000 and 15,000. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Just wondering what the average jump ticket costs these days at other DZ's (in the US). Not special rates, no bulk discounts, not a hop & pop or CRW altitude ticket. If you walk up to manifest, with cash, on a regular weekend, and want to go to the top, how much are they going to charge you? If it's not an even dollar amount, just round it up or down as appropriate. Edit to make the "in the US" bit a little more obvious. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" Just wondering what altitudes are most common these days, given current fuel prices (at least in the US). I'm referring to "normal" altitude, not "15,000 foot Fridays" or anything like that. If you have more than one home DZ, feel free to check multiple answers. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

But on the other hand, if you choose to store a large and flammable cache of explosives right next to your people in a warzone, aren't you the one subjected them to extra risk when they already have enough? Is there any defense for storing them in a mosque? I don't know about you, but if I'm in battle, I want my ammo to be accessible. Storing it in a depot 5 miles away from the conflict wouldn't be all that prudent. As for the mosque thing, it should be irrelevent...unless we're intentionally dropping bombs on mosques. Either someone is talking shit and making something up, or someone is selling out what should be a secret. I'd hope that if the latter were true, that someone is being questioned right now. EDIT- Just another example of the leeches in the media putting their "scoop" before the interests of their country. Despicable. You did catch this part, right? If I shoot your gun at someone and kill them, it's me that killed them, regardless of whose gun it was. If we detonate those RPGs and kill people with them, it's us who killed those people, not the owners of those RPGs. If someone shoots down one of our helicoptors and it explodes on impact in the middle of town, killing a bunch of civilians, is it our fault because it was our helicoptor? We don't really have a particular focus. CRW is less common now than it was a couple years ago, but freeflying, rw, student jumps, wingsuit jumps, tracking dives, etc...we pretty much do it all. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Are skydivers and base jumpers a hornier group than others?
livendive replied to ladyskydiver's topic in The Bonfire
You will NEVER see me say that. If skydiving is better than sex, you're doing it wrong. It depends on who's involved. I'd much rather skydive with most people than have sex with them. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -

House OKs flag desecration amendment... PASS IT!
livendive replied to rhino's topic in Speakers Corner
Flying a flag and burning a flag are simply two different forms of exercising freedom of expression. Wanting to ban one while protecting the other is the incongruous perspective. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -
Should the US Start Building More Nuclear Power Plants?
livendive replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
Funny in an odd sort of way, not a ha-ha sort of way. People seem to get so bent out of shape about the possible environmental effects of nuclear power without stopping to consider the un-sustainability or the very real environmental effects of natural gas and coal-fired utilities. Should the US Start Building More Nuclear Power Plants?
livendive replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
Absolutely. Nuclear energy has taken a beating in our culture ever since the comic strips and movies about mutant monsters in the 1950's. The general public just doesn't seem to understand how safe and clean it is. As much as I'd like to see us improve our nuclear energy production capability, I don't believe I will anytime soon. It may make for decent press for Bush to say he'd like to increase our production, but it doesn't ring all that true in my ears. For an example of why, the sodium was just recently drained at FFTF. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -
Where did he do that? If I say freeflying is alive and well at Perris am I saying that all jumpers at Perris are freeflyers? Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
