  3. Whattup Alex, good to hear your ticker has gotten over the licking and back to ticking. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  4. I like how most of the women report giving 4-7 a week, and the fewest men report receiving 4-7 a week...which begs the question, who are those women giving them to? BRB - gotta go close another rig. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  5. Not impossible, just difficult. I had to use two hands on a tandem break away last year (broken riser) and if that hadn't of worked I was going to have to risk putting a reserve past a trailing main. The funny thing is I rewrote that sentence like 3 times trying to work an "incredibly difficult" or "nearly impossible" in, and it just didn't sound right. Finally I decided the odds were slim anyone would call me on it and went without the qualifier. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  6. An out of sequence procedure occurs when someone pulls the reserve handle (step B) before pulling the cutaway handle (step A). Any person can make this mistake, thus it is equally POSSIBLE whether one uses one hand per handle or two. However, the closer steps A and B get to each other, the more PROBABLE it becomes that B will be performed before A, thus it will more commonly occur in those using one hand per handle. This is because the people using two hands per handle have a longer pause between A and B to realize A was unsuccessful before performing B. The majority of my jumps are on tandem rigs, on which a two-hands-per-handle procedure is impossible. I think there is value in having one procedure for all of the more common malfunctions, so my EPs from a baglock, spinner, lineover, etc will all be the same...pull right, pull left, arch. Also, I'd guess that one hand per handle is faster than two hands per handle, which may be significant when someone starts their EPs lower than advised. That said, I teach my students two hands per handle. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  7. I started on an SOS too, so my FJC instruction is irrelevent. Today, I teach two hands per handle, but I personally do one hand per handle (75% of my jumps are tandems, and my sport rig doesn't have an RSL). Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  8. OHHH you mean I should not bring my DIESEL genset???? its only a 10 K I know we can count on you to bring firearms as well...good thing, as you're going to need them when you fire up a diesel gennie right next door to my trailer. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  9. I cannot support this, but in my reasearch last night there was a link to some information that listed there were more people struck by lightning in LA than were deported for being illegally in this country. Man, I should buy stock in whatever burn cream is used for the victims of lightning strikes. X Here are some numbers from 2008. I couldn't find as detailed a breakdown for 2009, I just saw references to the number of returns & removals being higher in 2009 than 2008. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" 10. No, they didn't. The City of Los Angeles law says they may not initiate police action for the purpose of verifying immigration status. The state law says that they will verify the immigration status of arrestees whom they suspect of being in violation of immigration law, and cooperate with the INS as appropriate. These laws are not contradictory. Blues, Dave So, they are not allowed to ask wether they are legal or illegal. I get that. However 834B requires it - you really don't see the contradiction here? What Andy said. The city law prohibits them from walking up to someone on the street and demanding proof of legal immigration. The state law says they must verify the immigration status of arrestees if they suspect them of being here illegally. These are not contradictory. Blues, Dave It states that no policing action may be taken. Questioning is a policing action. No, it says "Officers shall not initiate police action with the objective of discovering the alien status of a person. Officers shall not arrest nor book persons for violation of title 8, section 1325 of the United States Immigration code (Illegal Entry)." Bold added by me for emphasis. A person under arrest has already had police action initiated against them. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

  12. None yet. Give that autority to the NIS and see I bet things change, and the INS would have more capital to spend enforcing the laws already in place. Couldn't California simply repeal the law in question to prevent being fined for failure to comply with it? Blues, Dave Anything is possible. Imean they created a special code that violates that law specifically, so why not. No, they didn't. 14. I think the law enforcement agencies should be federally fined if they DO NOT enforce the law. But......gah..... Perhaps you meant agencies that are federally funded to enforce federal laws should have those funds withheld if they don't enforce said laws? Blues, Dave Yes, that - and more . . . It has gotten to a point where drastic action is necessary. If it is the requirement of the law ((a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws.)to assist, then you better damn well assist, and not impede,(Special Order 40) or you should be penalized in some way. I never thought that a city code could supercede state law. Just enforce what is already in place! On what authority would the federal government fine a non-federal agency for failure to comply with a non-federal law? Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

  16. I can't get to the site in Clint's post, but your results sound a lot like mine the last time I took one of these tests (on www.politicalcompass.org). Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  17. :6:0 Six tandems out of a 182. Thankfully our Caravan comes home this week. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  18. For a while, sure. Long term, never. If the sex isn't "right on" there will be no long lasting bond. So you don't think paraplegics have any chance at rewarding, long-term relationships? I think sex is an important part of a relationship, but any relationship which relies on it first and foremost is likely to be shallow and short-lived. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  19. Have fun! We had one of these collection agencies filling up the voicemail for the school so prospective tandems couldn't leave messages. Erin called them and set them straight. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  20. Maybe in that picture, but she was topless while holding the squirting hose. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  21. Yep..(Blacks Beach, San Diego) Same as any beach ..... Same, Blacks Beach a bunch of times 20+ years ago. One of my most distinct memories ever involves a few minutes of swimming in close proximity to 3 dolphins there. Oh, and the naked guys riding bicycles up and down the beach selling drinks were a bit outside of what I normally see at beaches, but overall it was a very cool place. Anyone know if it still is? 22. Is this story not already all over the Bonfire? Topless Blonde Fitness Instructor Battles Blaze (subsquent links tell the story better) Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  23. Does this shed a different light on the discussion? Blues, Dave I don't know, but I think you and I could agree that your statement is not universal. The flames being fanned, such as, "Getting detained while on your way to get an ice-cream..."...certainly do not help the situation in terms of civil unrest. Legal gun-owners want current gun control laws enforced without our own rights being infringed, and take offense when people say we should tolerate some inconvenience for the greater good. As a legal gun-owner, I empathize with those legal immigrants who want their rights similarly uninfringed. On either subject, I have little respect for those who consider the legal rights of others as expendable or less important than their own. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" 25. It's not, so long as you don't impede on the rights of those here legally. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
